  1. In my opinion, the safety system is the best thing about a 1911 for carry. In the unfortunate event someone takes your gun from you, they have to disengage the safety before they can shoot you.......no so much for the other pistols mentioned.
  2. I started carrying 1911s in 2004 when I made Ranger and did so most everyday since, up until about 8 months ago when I purchased a ZEV G17. While my Infinity 1911 are ultra accurate and reliable, they are heavy and very expensive. So, for daily carry/abuse I've pretty much converted to Glocks (for work only). I still carry the single stack Infinity when I need to dress up and I shoot nothing but Infinitys in competition. But to answer your question about keeping them reliable.......monthly cleaning, very regular mag maintenance.
  3. Please keep in mind there is a difference between work and personal guns.
  4. Good stuff....please keep it coming...
  5. Sorry guys, I know the answer probably already lies somewhere on this Forum, but I'm pressed for time. I'm a lefty and our Suppressed Bushmaster AR's nearly choke me out with the gas. They do not have an adjustable gas block. A company has offered to build me a lefty upper that will accept the can. Someone told me the majority of the gas come through the charging handle rather than the ejection port. Is that true? While I appreciate these guys trying to help me, if the left side ejection really won't help, then I don't want them to waste their time. On another note, do any of you know if a suppressed 9mm AR puts out enough gas to matter which side it effects from? Thanks for the help!! Trace

    Sig P320

Just take my money already!! That is a great looking Sig......
  7. Sounds like you know what a good sight picture is. Perfect the group shooting on the rest, then shoot slow fire, free style with the same sight picture until you get that perfect. Then gradually speed up......
  8. Since this forum is about competition, and not shooting from a bench, you need to start with the fundamentals: stance, grip, sight picture and trigger control. I suggest you get going with shooting lessons from a Grand Master USPSA shooter and buy Brian Enos's book. While this is true, group shooting is something that Brian used often. If you can't shoot nice groups from a rested position, you will never be able to shoot a nice group free style.
  9. What gun are you shooting? Can the chamber accept long ammo? If so, for 40 major in a 1911, I loaded 4.7 grains of Clays under a 180 grain Montana Gold JHP to 1.22. So, you could start with 4.0 to the same dimensions. If you have to load for a Glock I have no idea, but I'd bet there are lots of folks on here that do........
  10. Welcome to the forums. Where do you do your cuffing and stuffing?
  11. It all depends on what a person likes. Personally, I didn't care for the SSVI stuff.........I like the look of Salient's stuff, but don't want to pay an additional 500-1000 bucks...
  12. This is what I ended up doing for my G19 build. Rather than send them my pistol, I went with a full G19 build with a Trilobite Slide and ZEV match grade barrel.
  13. Y'all rank pretty high in tornados too I think.........
  14. Apparently Accusport is a huge distributor for ZEV modified Glocks and their web skills suck.
  15. Once you get on the Infinity band wagon, you don't need other gun stores unless you buy your reloading supplies there, or the occasional Glock.......
  16. Yes, I learned a long time ago not to sweat little variances in lead time. They are the best and are extremely busy, period. Sometimes large international orders have to bump local builds. I get that. Doesn't mean I like it, but I understand it's a business with a high demand product.
  17. She turned out really nice. I love the new scope mount. Congratulations!
  18. If you shoot enough to get your pistol extremely hot, they will fall out.
  19. If they are so good why would somebody sell it in two years when it takes a year to get it in the first place? To keep new pistols coming in. Thats what I used to do when I shot a lot more. Put 10-15 K through one and sell it to pay for the one being built.
  20. I agree with most of what everybody has said and will add this.....Infinity pistols are so well built, well thought of and in such demand, that you can shoot one for a couple of years and sell it on here for for just a few hundred less than you paid for it.
  21. Scott Stockton has done one of the best jobs I've ever seen teaching a kid to shoot at a very young age. If I were you, I'd friend him on here and on FB and pick his brain. He's a GM and loves to coach. I think he would really enjoy getting to help you....
