  1. How does it fail? Upside down cases? Sideways in the funnel? I don't even OWN a small pistol casefeed plate anymore. I use the large pistol casefeed plate for 9, 40 and 45 all the time.
  2. Another "easiest" is to use the large pistol casefeed plate for both 9mm and 45.
  3. Dawsons uses the 1911 safety plunger and spring (yes, from your gun) as their basepad ball detents.
  4. rifle - Anshutz 1407 pistol - Browning Hi-Power shotgun - Rem 1100
  5. The RCBS swager is Midway part number 447022. On sale now. Ignore the part in the description that says "uses removable shell holder (sold separately)" You do not need a shell holder for this operation. I have both the RCBS Swager and Dillon Super Swager. I'll say that the absolutely best way to swage a case is a Dillon 1050. My next choice would be the RCBS Swager. I like this over the Super Swager because you load the case onto the swage punch itself. On the Super Swager, you load the case onto the support rod, then move the rod/case to the punch. If you don't align the case to the punch, you CAN destroy the primer socket. There is a lot of mechanical advantage. There probably is a trick to using the SS, but I don't want to play.
  6. Ranch Products Good products and good people, but their ordering system leaves something to be desired. I had to send them a fax with quantity and shipping address. A package showed up with an invoice for net30. 100 clips, for a 625, at $35. Wrote them a check and sent it off.
  7. I like a paddle, and I angle it upwards. I also grind down the section that touches your middle finger. This prevents the mags from "accidentally" falling out. You might also try thinning the grips
  8. Ahm jus sayin' Mid Pacific Pistol League has an IPSC match on June 5. No need to bring your gun, we can set you up. Just bring your rig and let us know what you want to shoot. Your job is to score some free time from the family. We won't feed you spam. Maybe. Raw fish probably.
  9. If you mean the casefeed loading plates, I just use the large pistol plate for 9mm, 40 and 45. But, YMMV.
  10. Go shoot the match. Be safe. And you have a hobby for life.
  11. I would call Dillon and request replacement parts for everything that is worn. If you send it in, request that they just rebuild it keeping the spring return otherwise they may replace it with the new ker-chunky powder measure. Of course if you don't mind the ker-chunky measure, then the above doesn't apply.
  12. I like a flashlight on my 650's station 3. When I first started loading major 9 with a powder checker, I would find powder on the shellplate. I took the powder checker off, modded a flashlight and now visually check the power level.
  13. Warren, I'd like to order 1- Classic, 1mm Fiber-Optic, .100 x .300, red. PayPal still good? Let me know. Thanks, Rob
  14. Hey, you found the Way Back machine.
  15. I like Genuine Ruger and Butler Creek Steel Lips
  16. When my Weigand mounted Tasco PDP3 went out, I picked up an un-drilled Quinn and drilled the mount holes myself. I really like the SideMore. Check with JT. He can probably pull one off the line before drilling. I kinda sorta remember that he once said that he could drill your pattern, although I don't know if he still does, or ever did this.
  17. Agree. You have the rig and accessories. She is familiar with the platform. All you gotta do is load 45 minor. Another point might be the "snappiness" and muzzle flip of the 9mm in a light handgun vs the "pushiness" of 45 minor in a full size handgun. But do have her try the different guns. Let us know how she does and what she chooses.
  18. I will be traveling to Albuquerque, NM with my son for the 2010 National Junior Air Rifle Championship. We are planning a free day, June 27, so what do you consider to be must do/see? Gun shops, museums, sightseeing, food? Thanks.
  19. Absolutely do go the the match. However, watch how other shooters do it, NOT how fast. Shoot your own game. Get your hits. I've seen too many new shooters watch the big dawgs, and try to run fast. Then their new friend Mike shows up. Even on close wide open targets. So, take it easy, don't get flustered, enjoy the experience, be safe.
  20. 33db plugs and Pro Ears when shooting and ROing open guns. Plugs alone otherwise.
  21. +1 on buying name brand batteries. Mine last between 8-12 months depending on whether or not I forget to turn it off. This is with 3 matches a month plus dryfire.
  22. I did some "back of the envelope figuring" and threw some numbers into excel. I came up with the formula arctan( scope height / zero distance) = DEGREES to depress scope to maintain equal adjustment range above and below POI. It seems that for an unrealistic case where you have a high mounted tube scope(2" scope center to bore) and short zeroing range(5yds), that the scope could be depressed .5 degree. But as you lower the scope height and/or lengthen the zeroing range, the angle is ~.1 degrees, which doesn't make too much difference. So, in light of all this, never mind...
