  1. So this might sound a little silly...but are any of those other brands not silver colored? I was thinking about it and I would prefer my small pistol primers and my small pistol magnum primers to be visibly different I guess you mean when they're seated right? So you can tell the difference between made rounds? I've used Federal SPM and SP exclusively for a period of 10+ years. Never had a misfire due to a bad primer. The Federals are silver in colour. 2. Thanks mate. You think!? In the great words of chief inspector Closseu - "I know that, I know that..." If it's as fun with open as my former standard shooting pal says, the gun might never come close to a complience box again.
  3. Nicely done Russ. I like the thumb safety - where did U get it?
  4. The carbon fibre mount for my Nikko Stirling scope is almost finished. It needs clear coating and perhaps some decorative holes usually done for reducing weight. I don't need it for weight reduction though - the mount only weighs 10 grams. As a comparison the aluminum prototype weighed 16 grams. A couple of see-through holes could be cool though.
  5. I try not to brag. Maybe this petit one is a little more you... Guess you'll have to try out a couple to find what works for you. DVC BulM5 Is that like bailing wire holding the handle onto the dovetail insert? Bailing wire... good one... The racker is actually secured with a metal paper clip bent 90 degrees into a hole on top of the insert. Bend the clip upwards a bit, pull it out and...viola...the racker comes off the slide. Easy no tools required disassembling the gun for cleaning. DVC BulM5

  7. Hi Soaring, seen this? http://www.sps-dc.com/catalog/index.php?cPath=38&osCsid=d8aa6b17c963d37a096f818ac39d6e90 BulM5
  8. Hi Loki, Not that I have any extensive experience of slide rackers(being a standard division shooter), but I'm building a racegun of my BulM5 and I wanted one for clearing jams and pick up support at table start positions. I put some thought into it. The racker had to come off easily so disassembling the gun for cleaning could be done without using any tools. Hearing of guys having their thumbs battered made me consider a healthy clearance margin. This is the prototype I came up with. As you can see there's plenty of room for my thumb and I have rather long fingers. I will probably make a couple of different models so this rudimentary prototype may not be used in the end, but it's still a good example of a way to go if you want to have the support and keeping your thumb out of harms way . 9. For those of you wanting to know the difference in line of sight between iron sight and a red dot scope mounted really low may want to see this. When I had mounted the scope I took my normal position(shooting standard div.). I found the dot really easy. It seemed like I was at the same position with the gun as with iron sights. I placed the gun in a reference spot and compared the two. As you can see from the pictures there's not that big a difference in LOS. This was my aim from the beginning. The dot can be seen blurred at the very bottom of the scope. DVC BulM5
  10. I got you major. Good to know. I will mount the scope parallel with the barrel. However, it won't be as far back as I planned from the beginning. I totally forgot about the slide racker . Mounting the scope were the Bomar sight is located will not leave any room for the slide racker to extend to the left side of the slide. Two options then: a/ Raise the scope to let the racker come out under or b/ move the scope forward. I want the scope low, so I'm moving the scope forward a bit. The slide racker issue presented another irritating fact. Since I have the scope mount on the left side the racker is gonna have to come off when I dismantle the gun for cleaning. And that means unscrewing and knocking the slide racker in and out every time. That would have driven me bananas down the line. I had to solve that one. So, I made my own slide racker prototype today. It's not that bad. I'm going to take off the Bomar sight and try it out tomorrow. Got word from the shop - barrel could arrive end of next week. Hope I can find the time to finish the rear scope mount prototype this weekend. Then all that's left is the fitting of the barrel. But then again, all this prototype designing might make me wanna go for a new mag well . DVC BulM5
  11. Given the metric system over here, inch related stuff surely is harder to get, but certainly not impossible. Furthermore, I don't think the stores you're mentioning are represented over here. So I went the easy route... Major, I looked at the video and although it seems to be a .45 cal you pointed at something I did not think of, so thanks. Placing my scope in the rear position were I want it, shows that the ejection will be more or less at the center of the tube. So any gas or flame coming out the rear will hit the middle of the tube and hopefully not the rear lens. However, with the scope in the front position, the rear lens is almost flush with the ejection. That can be a problem. I could place the scope a bit more forward in the front position, but not without removing the front sight. You could say there would be a sight conflict and the front sight would beat the shit out of the scope. Modifying the slide was never in the plans. I want to be able to switch back to standard division if open doesn't work out for me. Later on I might get a second slide in order to switch between divisions. Did you have the scope mounted low or was it relatively high i position, like a regular C-more? and what distance was used at zero? Mounting the scope high over the barrel would mean a low point of impact at close range. Not good when large parts of the targets are covered by PT:s. I was planning on mounting the scope parallel to the barrel, but now I'm not sure. But considering my scope is positioned low, I don't think that 1 degree will make that much difference to me. What do you think? DVC BulM5
  12. Thanks major! The scope is now on the gun! I have done my first prototype mount. I know...but before you go ballistic on me, remember it's only a prototype so it's ok if it looks crappy at this stage. I only wanted to find out screw locations and scope position. The end product will be fondled with and in carbon fibre - hey it's supposed to be a racegun, right? I'm making 2 mounts, one for the position in the photo and one for a rear position just where my Bomar is now. I want the scope as far back on the gun as possible. This will enable the largest field of view and it will also balance the extra weight of the comp. The closer I can get to my normal feeling the better. The scope is also protected from powder and mantle residues from the comp in the rear position. The reason for the front position mount is really just in case of brass ejection problems should occur with the rear mount. It's right on top of the ejection area. This is why I took away material at the right side of the scope. I didn't want the weaver guide base to interfere with the ejection. I used 3mm screws for the frame. I think 5 of them in stainless should hold. The weak point is the frame - its polymer. So all holes are threaded through the polymer. I'm not too worried though. If the threads should give I've got plenty of room for Helicoils. Next, I'll fix the rear mount prototype. DVC BulM5
  13. Thanks for the input, guys! >Matt -Nice but no. I've got the NS MRS model and I'm mounting it in the position it was made for. I don't want to mount it on a rail though, hence the modification. I want it really low and the mod will make that possible as you can see in the photo. >Cletus -Thats just what I needed. Thanks a lot, pal. I'll probably drill and tap the holes in the frame tomorrow. Oh by the way, what kind of screws do C-more use? I was thinking of using 4mm diameter screws.
  14. Hi fellow gunners and greetings from Scandinavia! I just picked up IPSC after a long break. I'm putting together an Open div. major gun based on my old Standard BulM5. So far I've decided on a STI Trubor 9x19 and a Nikko Stirling scope. I'm in the process of modifying the Nikko Stirling reflex one sight which I'm mounting with my own designed plate. As I haven't drilled the mounting holes in the frame yet, I thought I'd use the same hole pattern as a C-more Serendipity. That way I could easily change optics later or slapping on a thumbrest without too much hassle. Anybody out there got the C-C measurement of a 3-hole and 5-hole C-more mount pattern? Preferably in mm:s. Appreciate it. DVC BulM5
