  1. Wow! Thanks for turning me on to Woods of Ypres. I am going to dig into their catalog for sure. Now...it is my duty as a card carrying metal head to post the following video. The new Cannibal Corpse album is awesome. It sounds just like...well...Cannibal Corpse. You know, like AC/DC. You always know what you are going to get. Here is a groove-tastic track: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wJIoVbcnOG8
  2. I envision a barricade on wheels rolling on a track and attached to the shooter via a belt harness. Area 8 had a cart on wheels rolling on a train track made of PVC pipes. Make it happen Attach a rolling barricade or wall with a port to a truck winch. The speed will be very consistent for each shooter.
  3. Wow, this is a great read! I relly enjoyed those old posts by Brian. One of the things that really helped me understand shot calling was the very first time that I shot a handgun in a dark house. We always talk about seeing the sights at the exact moment the gun fires, but it is hard to do sometimes. However, when shooting in low light, the muzzle flash creates this "snapshot" of that exact moment. I know this isn't available to everyone, but I feel that it is very helpful in learning what that "snapshot" sight picture looks like.
  4. Well, did I get in? Where is my number? (nervously bites nails)
  5. When I first read Brian's book, it didn't make much sense to me. After shooting for a few years, I read it again and if was easier to understand. Then after more shooting and a third read, it really started to click. I have gone back to his book many times throughout the years and each time I find something new. My advice is to read as many books as you can. Read them all the way through, even though some of the topics will make no sense to you at the time. Eventually, different things will "click" at different times. We often need only the simplest action to bring something very complex into focus. Good luck!
  6. Regarding discount codes... If you enter "unathorized code removed by Admin" at the e-rudy checkout, it will save you 40% as opposed to the 30% discount that most of us are used to seeing.
  7. I would like to apply for membership, please. Thank you for your consideration. ETA: Click Youtube link for video evidence of actual competition with 1911's.
  8. Welcome to the forum! What clubs do you currently shoot IDPA at?
  9. Hey, I read about those Rudy glasses on Facebook...about two dozen times today! I have mulitple pair of the Rydons, so they are my obvious favorites. They do tend to fit very close to your face which can be an issue if you have long eye lashes. Especially, if you are using the RX inserts. Although you didn't list them, the Zyon model is very nice too.
  10. Hmmmm....Wilson Combat must've made a new 4" 1911...
  11. But...but...that would...meh...nevermind.
  12. I had the same issue with my Trojan when it was new. The first thing I did was change the mag catch to a EGW to help hold the mag slightly higher in the gun. I hit the slide stop pin with a fine grit paper and then a drop of oil. I also sanded and then polished the living hell out of the rear of the of the slide stop where it contacts the plunger. I then removed the followers of my Wilson mags and lightly sanded the front of the followers and added a very small amount of oil. This seemed to do the trick. None of these issues are causing the entire problem, but together they can mess up the entire function of the gun. Honestly, the best thing to do is just lube the gun, dry fire it, cycle it, and shoot the crap out of it for a little while. It takes some time to get a Trojan broken in IMO. Good luck let me know how it goes.
  13. It may be a waste of time, but it is also one of the many competition rules in the sport. IDPA considers that a "speed reload" becasue the gun is not empty. If the gun is empty and the magazine is empty, then you may leave the empty mag behind.
  14. Perfect weather for the first IDPA match of the season at WCRHA. I had a decent match and my SA 45 ran great. The highlight of my day was on Stage 04 when I engaged a steel activator and pulled off a slide lock reload while "waiting" for the pop up target. I love the disaster factor sometimes....
  15. That.... and "Get some, BITCHES!"
  16. I enjoyed the awesome weather by doing my dry fire in the back yard. It really freaks my neighbors out when they see me doing this.
  17. Comp-Tac! Be sure to order the model for your specific gun!!! A 1911 holster will not fit a STI Trojan 5.0. There is a reason they make many models. Ask me how I know...
  18. Are you going to Indiana State Match? we are going and I think we are shooting with Mike B's squad... Who said we will let you into our squad? I hope you aren't bringing that JJ Cool L fellow....
  19. If you must change barrels, I would recommend a drop-in. A Glock barrel fits kinda sloppy by design and I see no advantage in a tightly fitted barrel for this game. KKM or Bar-Sto are good.
  20. I think it may have been those Ninja Assasins that I've been hearing about lately...
  21. Getting tuned up to dominate U-class at BITB3! As you can see...I have some tuning to do yet.
