  1. I guess I don't know the difference. I thought that was a "sling shot" method ? I share your confusion, Flexmoney. The slingshot method is "The over the top and gripping the rear portion of the slide". I personally use the "Henning" method if anyone is keeping track of this stuff.
  2. Leam - Not necessarily. Using hot powders (Bullseye, Titegroup, others) will cause smoke with coated bullets, though not quite as much. Single-base powders (Solo 1000 or 1250, the VV powders) burn cooler and tend to smoke less. I've just finished off the last box of 1000 rounds of 147 Precision Moly Coated Bullets with Tite Group and they smoked like crazy. Like others have said, stick with jacketed bullets when using a little bit of fast hot powders. My $0.02
  3. This match worked out perfect for me. I just joined USPSA on Friday evening. I was told that I will be classified with the four stages that I shot today. Is this true? Great match! The Texas F'ing Star was "interesting". I think that the reloading component people designed that one. I heard one gentleman say that he gave up after firing 63 rounds. IIRC, there were only 25 rounds required. I think I managed to complete the stage with about 35 rounds. Those two plate racks did not like me today. Actually, it was just one plate in particular that was a pain in the ass. Too bad not all of Team SSF could be there.
  4. I say this is the Glock Forum, so let's talk about Glocks.
  5. That's one option sure - but I bet if you ask around you'll find that most of the upper end glock shooters are running fairly close to stock set ups. There isnt a need to throw high end trigger parts on the glock to make it shootable. Just ask Dave S or Robert Vogel or Flex or a few others. I agree. I wouldn't exactly place myself in the company of the great Glock shooters that you mentioned, but I prefer a fairly "stock" trigger. The only mod that I've done is a Ghost Rocket connector. I've had too many issues when I've tried light FP springs and other bull$hit. I've handled Bob Vogel's Glock. Other than having the $hit shot out of it, it was pretty much just like mine.
  6. Can be a member??? I want a shirt!! I will have to talk to SIRVEYR about voting you in but I will wait until after he gets back from vacation. Seems that his wifey wouldn't let him hang out with team SSF this weekend and made him take her on a weekend retreat !!! We see who wears the pants in that house !!! We missed you today at TCSL Chad !!!! I am back from my tactical retreat. It was awesome. The wife and I had a great time. I hear that the stages at TCSL were "interesting". I'll be back next month, so will my stages. Originally, I was going to keep the SSF an organization that consisted only of my immediate friends. Upon further review, I feel that the entire shooting community are my "Stupid Shooty Friends." Therefore, the SSF is accepting applications. However, all members must be approved by SWMBO (She Who Must Be Obeyed). I will ask if you may be included in this exclusive group. It will require a PM so that I may assign you a SSF number. Thank you for your interest in the SSF.
  7. I have a great group of friends that my lovely wife affectionately refers to as my "stupid shooty friends". Well, Team SSF stopped over at my house this afternoon after an IDPA match to help me set up my brand new 650 with case feeder. The entire operation works awesome. I can't believe that I beat myself up loading nearly 100,000 rounds on a Lee Turret press for the last few years. Lee makes great equipment, but I just needed to upgrade due to the volume that I'm loading. Anyway, they donated some primer tubes to my cause and all it cost me was a couple of brats and hot dogs. I think it worked out quite well for everyone. So thanks for all your help guys I really appreciate it. Team SSF will dominate the IDPA Nationals come October! Screw the Super Squad, all eyes will be on the Stupid Squad!
  8. Your children are absolutely adorable. They must take after their mother. Will you be attending the MI IDPA Championship this year?
  9. Jim, I'm intrigued about this 54 round test. What did it involve?
  10. I've heard that it may be better to "dump" a round, in the middle of an array as opposed to doing it on the last target. This method is highly illegal and I would never do this. Ever. I've only read about this kind of despicable behavior on the internet.
  11. Sirveyr, Watching you, Ric and Greg have pushed me more than you can realize. Also, doesn't hurt to pick up a thing or two for Bob V. !! At one time, I didn't think that making Master would even be possible but now I realize it is just a matter of time. See you Saturday, I hope the weather is nice enough to wear my gamer pants and extra medium shirt !! Nick You'll definately make Master! It would be awesome to take an entire squad of Michigan Masters to the National. We just need to work on getting Mike to Master! I'll be there and I'll be wearing my big boy gamer pants and extra medium synthetic teflon carbon fiber non-bio-degradable sweat inducing yet wicking gamer shirt too. L8R.
  12. Yes the match was very fun. It was an SSP paradise! You gotta love those 11 round engagements! There were also ample opportunities to utilize tac reloads, both required and optional. It was a very challenging match. I think the major MI matches are by far some of the most challenging and creative collections of stages that I've ever shot.
  13. Congratulations! It was fun watching you shoot. You had a fantastic match. Now quit bringing up the fact that you beat three Masters. I took my defeat quite well. I had a good therapy session on the ride home with our buddy. I just had an all around bad day. I thought I was calling my shots, but a -0 head shot and one -3 to the lower groin area is NOT calling your shots! Oh well, those ten "matches" are over. No excuses, just plain old poor excecution on my part. I'll get ya next year, since I'm positive that we'll be in the same class by then. On to the Postal Match...
  14. DO NOT USE THE BRASS! I REPEAT, DO NOT USE THE BRASS! Very carefully, place it into a box, place my address on the box, and get it to the nearest FED EX outlet. That stuff sounds way to dangerous to be sitting around your house.
  15. Who was the "evil genius" that came up with that stage? I have mixed feelings about the "novelty" stages. One one hand, yes they can be kinda silly at times. On the other hand, they can also make shooters think, too. I think a lot of times we just go into "auto-pilot hoser mode" when the buzzer goes. Making the shooters think about what they are shooting instead of "if it's brown, it's down", can make things quite interesting. Also, as a stage designer, it gets to be a real pain trying to come up with new and exciting stages for every practice and match. Sometimes you just reach into the bottom of the idea bucket and pull out a stinker. There is a finite amount of three target configurations in the universe that can be used on a stage. Everyone likes to b1tch about "your" stage, but no one ever really offers up any one "their" designs. Oh well, life goes on.
  16. I bet you could have made CDP EX if you would have worn your big boy gamer pants and your extra medium shirt !! wasn't the SSP bump right before nationals too ? I think that the "proper outfit" would have helped push me over the top. I think they were in the wash that day. Yes, the "bump" was right before nationals. I think I enjoyed the Nats much more that way. It felt like some of the pressure was off. If you look at my scores...it is quite obvious that I was feeling no pressure! I look forward to going back this year and helping you carry all of your plaques.
