  1. I'm with J1B the best investment there is for reloading, it takes some getting used to, but the time saved and quality of ammo produced is well worth the learning curve. I've taken it down all the way a few times and it isn't that hard to put back together. Go 4 it and enjoy years of easy reloading.
  2. Yea Jim, time to break out the ballerina shoes for Duane to balance out all those manly tactical shooting classes
  3. Duane, Athena did ok against Lisa, oh wait she beat her, besides, after watching the gals shoot together, it looks like they were having a lot of fun together. I would assume since they are competing against each other for the Ladies National Championship (not the men's title) they can keep tabs on each other, although I wouldn't object to random squading one bit either.
  4. Skywalker, I'm sure there are a ton more Tangfolio's too, with frames that better accomodate 9mm better than .38, but here in the State there were a tone of people saying what a big deal making 9mm legal in open again would be, but the 9mm's have made a wimper, not a roar from what I've seen.
  5. The big problem I see with 9mm major is not the cost of people "feeling" like they have to switch equiptment. I shoot SV's, so if I want to switch caliber it is a new breachface, extractor and barrel, big deal, my .38 super mags work for 9mm. Gun cost is minor in shooting, the ammo cost is the bigest factor for people who want to be competetive. That being said, I wouldn't shoot 9mm or 38 super in limited because I don't like like the way they handle in major without a comp, I think you would find a lot of shooters to agree that .38 supers aren't as easy to shoot as 40's sure you get 3 more rounds, but in most courses of fire that doesn't matter. I would HATE to reload as many rounds as I do having to load 9mm cases to the rim with powder, my workstation would be a mess! The BIG reason I wouldn't advocate 9mm major in limited is because you would most likely get new shooters trying to take Glocks with unsupported barrels and little reloading experience and the combo of the two would be ripe for BOOM BOOM'ing perfectly good paperweights I would hate to see people getting hurt trying to make their stock guns major in 9mm. How many poeple are geniunely shooting 9mm in open? Not many that I've seen, I have seen more than a couple guns for sale, hardly used 9mm major in limited making .40's less competetive, I think not.
  6. Steve, Thanks for the observations, this is my favorite part about the forum. I would hate to go up against you on El Prez. I was taking with a GM who just moved to town yesterday (I am totally stoked about that), and he repeated something TGO told him once, it was something to the effect of, "after you get to M you won't have to try to shoot fast enough, you can't help but shoot fast enough. Now getting the points you need is what really matters." I had my best practice EVER last night after focusing on that. Not worrying about the speed and just getting the points and I had my fastest, most consistant times ever.
  7. J1B You mean you DON'T "have to" have a toolhead for each caliber I would hate to set it up from scratch
  8. That doesn't sound unusual, getting laughed at anyways, and if your girl thinks you are a bit nuts, you are probably on the right track I don't use the muffs because I have electronic ones and my hearing increases, but because I have special glasses, I generally use them.
  9. It works great for .38 super so I can't see why it wouldn't with 9mm also.
  10. Just a general comment about being competive. Most people who aren't "competive" in a match don't have their equiptment to blame, but more their lack of dedication and practice. This being said, (I shot a $2600 limited gun in L10 once I got it built in April to finish off the points series) I didn't score significantly higher with it against my competion than my single stack .45. http://www.oregonipsc.com/eps/reportipsc20...0standings.html So for someone who has BTDT I think it means squat on 98% of the stages, but I would shoot the SV given the choice because I am now focused on Limited. I practice with it every day. When I was shooting my .45 every day I would rather have used it. As far as the cost of race guns, I have spent money more $$$ on bullets, powder, primers and brass than guns, mags, reloaders etc.
  11. John, once again, I don't mind a debate, I don't like someone to say I said something that I did not or would not say. I said nothing about factory guns being produced to compete against RACE guns I just wanted to clarify your FALSE statement about what I said.
  12. Mark, did you know you can load 7 if you only shoot 6?
  13. I NEVER said that!!! I was taking Production/L10, and HK, Glock, and Berretta have already come out with new products designed to be competetive with the type of 1911 I WAS talking about. "ie single stack, bushing barrel, standard guide rod, 5lb trigger, no mag well." Get your facts strait before you flame someone please.
  14. Well, Bruce I am M L10 and A Limited, go figure, I must shoot better with 10 round mags I agree THAT should be changed.
  15. Mad Mark, Read the rules, you can use your revolver if you only shoots 6, pull the trigger 7 times and you are in open class.
  16. This entire idea is based upon a flawed presumption... L10 and Production are no where near each other in equipment type. What flawed pressumtion? ie single stack, bushing barrel, standard guide rod, 5lb trigger, no mag well. This is dang close to a production gun's performance and at a similiar cost and mag capacity. Most of the gun used in L10 around here are SS 1911's and a few Glocks.
  17. My 2 cents, Limited should stay the way it is. If we could make rules to change L10 (ie single stack, bushing barrel, standard guide rod, 5lb trigger, no mag well) and we could let SA single stack pistols play in production, I think that would make the most sense to me.
  18. Just to clarify what I said. I said I agree with MV in: "Voigt: I believe we may need to reduce the number of divisions we have currently" I do believe this would be better from a cost standpoint on the local club level and quality of competition. With Open, Limited, L10, Prod and M, A, B, C, D classes there is seldom more than 3 competitors in each class/division outside of "C class" except very large matches. I wouldn't be against combining Limited and Open either if enough people wanted it. I DO NOT know how MV would do this. I would do this by combining L10 and Production as they are the closest in equiptment type. I would get rid of minor only scoring, if you want to shoot a .40 or .45 then you get the score. I disagree with Vince in that WE ARE NOT here to support the manufactures. I disagree with Vince's statement that nothing is gained. I would say that this might force manufactures to give us better products (ie. if they don't have a product that can shoot fast and accurately enough, they maybe they would improve it.) I see a ton of Glocks in Limited and Open already so why coddle them in production? That you can't be competitive with the gun of your choice is a lame excuse in my book. If you shoot classifiers with your gun the you should be grouped with people of a similiar skill level, and pandering to manufacturers is Un-American in my book. Freedom of competition I say, let the best man/product win. To stay on topic, I think MV is the best candidate.
  19. I have one o fthese with a few extra holes in the comp, hardchomed, and Scott type grip and I like it very much, it feels a lot closer to a limited gun's ballance, but it is not for those who are afraid of noise.
  20. I agree with MV in that. I think it would be better to combine L10 and Production. I also think he has done a good job. My 2 cents
  21. Luckily, no one was in THAT part of the office. They are fire and rescue.
  22. Yea it ruined two trees also, at least the building can be fixed.
  23. I hate starting off on Friday to find a truck in my office The guy driving supposedly blacked out, came off a two foot embankment, and missed a truck by about 6" went between the two trees and smashed the building. I don't think someone could have hit the building if they had tried, making it between the trees was incredible, especially after jumping off the embankment.
