  1. Several folks can give you a 2 lbs trigger on an XD. I've done more than a few. As far as the mag catch goes, if it is fair to switch it out for the Glock it should be fair for the XD, there are enough people making them. Just like the trigger guard wear on a Glock or CZ is fair as an external mod As long as people are racing guns, they will mod them to the edge of the legal limits. I just finished mirror polishing some parts tonight. But the one thing about shooting, is no matter the gear, it still comes down the shooting.
  2. Not calling ALL the shots is just asking for trouble IMO. It looks like you have a myth in your belief structure. You do not have to "slow down" to call your shots, you just have to change your focus. I wish all my competitors had the mind set you described, it's the ones that call EVERY shot you need to worry about, they have skillz.
  3. If you are starting out you might be better served to take some training. There are several things I see, but depending on your body they may or may not help. Make your draw one action, pause, and then reload, pause relaod, pause reload. Reload from all the pouches, and make each action it's own event when practicing. Then, once you have the basics down pat, add them together and start speeding up. Don't be afraid to get the motion down perfect at half speed, then speed it up. Fast doesn't matter if the form sucks.
  4. Wasn't there a Rhino spotting recently? Rhino?
  5. Uncle Mikes or Bladtech 1911 holster. CR speed if you want a "race" holster. ps. It is not the holster that makes a fast draw.
  6. How it feels to think you can shoot and realize how far you have come and how much further there is to go.
  7. This show is a perferct example of the wisdom of the statement... ... Maku mozo
  8. Right on James. I got to be decent shooting open, I got to be better shooting limited. I fought for years against a pretty decent open shooter, it wasn't until I spent a few years with my limited gun that I closed the gap. It is easier to get decent with open (especially if you are comparing yourself to limited shooters), but harder to get to be great because the bar is so much higher. You learn the most from the best shooters. If you have a great limited shooter and no great open shooters I would still say shoot limited (sticking a dot on in practice sometimes would help you learn to see more) I've seen a ton of open shooters who can't do a decent draw/reload to save their life. If there are great open shooters, battle them. You can get away with a lot of bad technique in Open that you can't in Limited, and some people don't catch on to how to shoot Limited fast enough. I don't think one is better or worse than the other, they are just different in many ways. Shooting them both will teach you different things. With open you have less to deal with visually so you can focus on the other things, so it is easier because their is less to do. 40% easier to get better? That doesn't make sense to me. There is just less to do shooting open, everything else is the same, but I don't think there is 40% less to do, but everyone's experience is different. Just shoot, and look for something new in each shoot. (and make it fun)
  9. Looking at .50's today I found this discliamer: RESTRICTED SALES TO CALIFORNIA STATE GOVERNMENT We do not support COMMUNIST or FASCIST entities, either foreign or domestic, and therefore NO SALE OF ANY ALS PRODUCT will be made to any agency or department of the STATE OF CALIFORNIA, including any municipal government therein, while the states UNCONSTITUTIONAL gun ban on small arms and 50 bmg weapons remains in effect. Now if more gun manufactures and ammo companies would do the same it might do some good. Cops/Military with out guns or ammo, hmmm. I know it only a dream, but this as good of a way as any to "free" Kalifornians from thier ruling class (the Kali-ban.) Since it is Black History Month, "I have a dream..."
  10. Go where the best competition, it is all shooting.
  11. 1050, hands down. Canging calibers is a cinch with extra toolheads, changing primer type adds a few minutes, but it isn't really hard at all.
  12. Well said, trickery is seldom worth the reward. In a major match it is about ALL the stages added up, tanking one can really hurt. Nice to see you back Jack, great insight as always.
  13. I know a guy who did that for real, to top it off he added huge "cooling fans" directed right across the property line. And to top it off his name is Earl. 3 months later, the dispute was settled.
  14. Bevin is a mad scientist, not a slick business owner, what he lacks in customer response he makes up with in his integrity and quality of work. If he said he'll do, it will get done, eventually and done right.
  15. I tend to drop my head forward a tad when stand and shooting, and not sure why. When shooting on the move I don't do it as much. About the timer. You serious guys don't want one, it will really hurt your shooting game. If you thought shooting was expensive and time consuming... On a serious note, cheap doesn't mean slow if you focus on the skillz.
  16. Limp wristing it when it gets cold? ... a guy from Wyoming, shooting an open gun, hmmm. Do you live near Brokeback Mountain? (sorry a bad joke I know)
  17. Aim. It is the one thing that people forget to do when the heat is turned up.
  18. Ronin and The Professional (there is a follow-up with the same director and Jean Reno "Wassabi") Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels and if you want cheese the Governator in "Commando" is always entertaining
  19. kydex draw From another post there were some request to post a draw from kydex, 1911 SS and a $15 Uncle Mike Holser. Regardless, you have to love the timer beep The quality sucks but it should give you the general idea.
  20. You might consider naming it "El Toro" with those horns and all Nice blaster
  21. Ditto + 1. They look cool. 2. I got it free, and that is cheaper than the $15 for the Uncle Mikes. 3. My open gun is longer and the draw would be too hign from kydex. 4. I can use the one rig for both SV's with a 30 sec change. 5. Fat guys benefit from the adjustablity of race holsters (I was fatter then) 6. They look cool. Why do people run raceguns in the first place? Dave Sevigny is proof you can kick @ss with a stock Glock and Kydex. My CR rig fits good, I like the product a lot, but the other stuff works too, and I use with my ugly guns.
  22. I don't feel they have the same speed, thats what the timer says. I use them for Limited and Open because I have SVI's and they work good in the CR Speed. I have rigs for each gun that is not SVI, I just switch the Arredondo end for Open or Limited on the CR rigs.
  23. It should be acurate enough to hit a paster at 10 yards. If it can do that, it is good enough for me for IPSC type shooting.
