  1. CR SPEED 2001 Here is the CR Model Safariland Here is the Safariland Both are good products.
  2. Why is it worth the extra cost? You can buy 10 holsters for the price of one? The single stack rules explicitely state "NO RACE TYPE HOLSTERS." so the CR and Safariland holsters are out. ps. I have measured the draw times to know they are identical in speed. I use the CR for my limited and open guns, but for the SS 1911, Sig 226, XD I use an Uncle Mikes.
  3. Of you are shooting a SS Uncle Mikes makes one for $15-20 that is just as fast as a race holster. The CR speed wears the gun finish less and works well also. It just depends on how much you want to spend.
  4. +1 on Bruce's sights and if you send Him your gun, he does a GREAT trigger too. Personally I just took a black sharpie to the damn white dots, since it is my "truck" gun and they work pretty good.
  5. Beat me to the punch, not as many years but same experience. If you get 19, good enough, seen way to many people have problems trying to get one more round in. Reloads aren't that hard if you actually practice them. True story, I had an RO ask how I got 25 rounds in my mag (140mm .40 cal) at the end of a COF. I replied I didn't see look over there (mag lying on the ground) I had reloaded where he couldn't see (static reload, big swing between targets.) Just happened to be a perfect load that took about the time that it took me to make the big swing. Good reload technique is way better than relying on more rounds "'cause you might miss a few times." Polish them up and set the dimensions per specs and the should work perfect. Beven makes cool holes so you can count your rounds and uses a jig to expand them a bit. He does a good job, if you tinker might not be worth it, if you want it done the first time there more than a few folks that can take your money and deliver a good mag.
  6. Actually it was about TRIPLE!!! If we had an impeachment in our bylaws I would do everything in my power to get it moving forward. Time to get a good candidate ready for the next election, to say he is not a fan of action pistol is a huge understatement. Instead of having Nats, we will be builiding a range for about 6-10 shooters. Albany (and PDX folks) will do a great job and although they don't have the scenery or brew pubs, the guys over there know how to put on a match.
  7. Thanks Chuck, I have nothing possitive to say about the situation as far as I know it from Bend's end. Time to overthrow the COSSA board IMO. Maybe I'll build my own range now on my property 10 miles up the road... Mouth shut, because I'm pissed and this is the only range I have to shoot, for now. I'm sure the guys in Albany and PDX will make it a great match!
  8. If you don't have an MBA in Dremelogy I would stick with the file, sandpaper, and stone approach.
  9. Too funny, yea Joe criminal is gonna have the edge over a guy with $20K + of rounds downrange.
  10. Casey Birchwood sight black, or just burn the FO and it will turn balck.
  11. Then you don't have the right trigger on your XD Mine is about the same as my 1911's and as for sights, the Dawson sights make nice sights if you black out the FO. Having the same trigger and sights make switching easier.
  12. ROFL. I never thought of cutting it out, but I remember the first time I spent hours searching for the same part. You are not alone.
  13. You shoot targets, move, and reload in both. The more you shoot the better you can get, I don't see a downside.
  14. If you want tactical, get grenades, they are seriously tactical. You will find playing pistols games much more enjoyable it you play it for your own enjoyment.
  15. ... or you might learn something different with each pistol you shoot. It's all about the fundamentals, and beyond
  16. Does that mean you forgot about the STI frame and pile of mags sitting in the back corner of your closet that have no markings as to date of manufacture?
  17. There are 24 colors of sharpies making a unique color combo is pretty easy.
  18. Must be since the guy says he HAS a G23 and is looking for a 1911 model
  19. Another thought, some badazzes say you should shoot what you carry, I tend to disagree. If it has a trigger and sights and you know how to shoot, you can shoot anything. I like to carry a Keltec .380, because it is small and not a pain in the azz to carry anywhere (1st rule of a gunfight, bring a gun) and I generally a have a bigger gun nearby anyways. Second, I wouldn't have a carry gun that has a manual safety, although I carried a 1911 for a long time, I like draw and shoot, just in case someone other than myself had to use it. There are a lot of great 1911's out there and they are great for competition, you might consider a .40 just because you could shoot it major, you could always download for minor. Good luck!
  20. Hmmm. After watching the Discovery Channel's show about the handful of "air traffic controlers" the Airfarce put in country to invade Afganastan, I would say give me 2 teams of those guys and THEIR "guns" any day over ANY other 2 teams out there
  21. Yep, just put in your ftp server info in the site info, and the learning curve shouldn't be that steep, no matter what they say about you
  22. Which one? It's my birthday and maybe time to replace my old one. Hmmm maybe I should get one and send it to Tripp and get it hardchromed, then polish the heck out of it. A PiMP AK sounds fun
