Dave and his crew put on one heck of a match. Great stages and extremely well run. Not to mention you get to see a true American Hero, Lee Leonard, who makes a mean biscuits and gravy. :bow:

105 lb German Shepherd (and the 35 lb cocker spaniel) and 12 rnd .45 with light, followed by a 16" AR with 62 Gr Soft Points and Surefire Light attached. And before you all jump all over me about over penetration, I am the only one here AND I have personally done the ballistic testing with a .223. It penetrates less than 12ga Buckshot. I keep everything I am not willing to part with in the room I'm in. Keys, etc. I also have my cell and regular phone in the bedroom so I can call the working police to come get the burglar's dead body. I simply secure all firearms I'm not taking with me in my main safe before I leave in the morning and get them out when I return.

Shooters Connection stocks the Trojan in hard chrome with fiber optic front sight and ambi saftey. IMO there is not a better finish even today than HC. Corrosion and wear resistant plus super easy to clean!

Thanks Fellas. I have never had a HC'd gun before. Now I am thinking about sending my 6" Limited gun out to Metaloy for chroming. Much easier to clean and maintain in addition to the good looks! I am up around 500 rounds through her without a hiccup yet...lets hope she runs that good at tomorrows Classifier Match down at BGSL.

So I decided that rather than shooting Limited this season with a smattering of Production thrown in, I would shoot Limited with a smattering of SS. To that end, I picked up a new Trojan from Shooters Connection. Finally got the SS rig completely set up last night as well as the gun, except for some trigger work which I will get done here shortly. The pistol is a .40 Trojan which came from STI (again via Shooters Connection) Hard Chromed, with Ambi Saftey and a F/O front sight. I then: Pinned the grip safety Replaced the stock trigger with an SVI Added a D/T mag release and and old school Shooters Connection mag button put on some VZ Operator II grips and a Dawson SS Ice magwell. I am running Wilson 47 DE mags (thank you Bobby Keigans for that tip) CR Speed mag pouches (6) with Power Factor Shooting's awesome SS spacers and a Bladetech holster. I took it to the range this past Monday and was shooting one ragged hole 5 shot groups at 15 yards using the 180 CMJ pulled bullets I have been getting from Power Factor Shooting. I know .40 1911's can be finicky so I was a little worried about getting it to run 100%. Hopefully this won't jinx me but I have put about 300 rounds through it with out the first hiccup!

You can ship directly to gunsmith. Though when you ship it, it has to go overnight so it cost more to ship it. FFL to FFL the shipping is less.

STI has redesigned their aluminum grip, they just aren't available yet. I have a couple of the first generation STI aluminum grips and haven't had any problems...yet. The knock on aluminum is that it work hardens and becomes brittle...which is why you get cracking. This is likely to occur in any aluminum grip framed gun at some point...doesn't mean it has to but it most likely will eventually. IMO, If you can afford the extra $, get the SVI steel...you will not be disapointed.

That's exactly why I picked it up, my 650 is setup for .40.

Shot Miamisburg local match yesterday. I had a couple mikes but still managed to win Limited. It was another well designed and run match by the guys at Miamisburg. After shooting much less the last 2 or 3 months, I feel like my speed is still there but my accuracy has dropped off. I think I am going to the range today and do some distance group work.

Had no idea! Thanks for the heads up! There are sooooooo many things I still need to learn. Your idea of placing the hand not being used across your chest is a good one and done by many when they are shooting one handed...just ball up your hand into a fist and put the unused hand on your upper chest without touching your other arm or shoulder. The video of the first string of the classifier looked very good and smooth. As I do the same thing, I noticed and would suggest keeping the gun a little higher while performing your reload. But again, overall, that string looked very very good.

It was good to see and shoot with you. I could see your rustiness (is that a word?) wearing off as we shot more. With a few more matches you will be back in tip top shooting form in no time!
