  1. Yes, Production or SSP you shoot DA, safety off, from the holster. Smoothest, safest way to decock that I've tried personally: Conventional wisdom says that the Tanfo fits guys with average to large hand sizes better, while the CZ is supposed to be easier to get a truly amazing trigger on. More than a few guys on either side will choose to debate that. I chose a Stock III over a SP-01 due to its ergonomics. It just fits me better.
  2. Why not rock a Lim Pro and really have a sick advantage... and shoot in SSP? Single action first shot & magwells are the huge things that put you in ESP, and a Lim Pro is SSP legal. I think a Tanfo would be a lot more fun against Glocks and M&Ps than against the 9mm 1911s found in ESP.
  3. Has to be. I wish I'd known that on the front end... I'd have copied and pasted the UBB code for the first post and just created another post in this thread further down with the additional info. Kept the ball rolling. Once we got it reasonably complete it would be simple for a Mod to come in and kill all the duplicate posts. That's the best way I can think of to create something like this as a non-moderator. Damn.
  4. Bladetech body on a BOSS hanger. The holster body is good. The rigidity / improvement made by the BOSS hanger is absolutely stellar.
  5. Thank you for coming back with a resolution to your problem. It drives me nuts when people don't bother to do that.
  6. So there's a problem here... I no longer seem to be able to edit any post in this thread except for the one above this which states that I added information from kneelinatlas, etc. Anyone know why that is? I can't add to the initial post!
  7. I read elsewhere in this forum that someone else had an issue with FTFs or FTEs partially due to a burr on the outside of the breechface at the firing pin hole. Check the breechface for smoothness too. (Although I believe that caused a failure to feed, it cannot hurt to check!)
  8. kneelingatlas, robport, and dogtired: I've added your contributions. Thanks! Tonyscomputery: I appreciate it. This is for my benefit as much as anyone else's. The only difference is that while I'm picking the Tanfo section apart with various searches for information on tuning my Stock 3 for Producton, I'm saving it where all of you can find it, instead of pasting the links and posts into a Word .doc on my own hard drive.
  9. I was hoping you'd chime in, Atlas. Your posts have certainly helped a lot of others do their own work. I botched the formatting copying your Open links into the first post from my phone. I'll fix it in the morning from my laptop. Keep the info coming. What is missing? What should be there?
  10. Added, along with Candice Juliano's comparison vid on youtube which mentions these.
  11. I'm well aware this is VERY lacking in information. As I begin to understand more about the gun, I'd like to actually put a few pages of text up here explaining the basic differences between models, the things to consider when tuning the trigger, springs, mags, and sights for competition, and things like that. Please post any thread you've found incredibly useful - I'd love to add it here!
  12. <This thread is under construction - it's just beginning, actually> I've quickly discovered that there is a LOT of good information on this forum pertaining to triggers and springs and dozens of other topics. Even moreso than for other brands... perhaps it's because these guns are still Unicorns to some extent. We only have each other to rely on to help set the gun up as best as possible. Unless I'm missing something, there isn't one centralized location on the forum to find all of the most important posts easily and quickly. So here goes... If you have a link to a vendor, youtube tutorial, or BEnos post which really helped you when building your gun, please post it in here so that I can add it! I'd really appreciate (and will fully credit) additions to the Tanfo bible. 13. I may have just sent in a sizable down payment on a Stock 3 in order to get one coming this way. You know. Hypothetically.
  14. Okay. I've always heard the II is phenomenally accurate. As long as the III is still 2" or so at 25yd, it's going to be vastly more accurate than I. I would imagine the II is preferable for someone who doesn't like a muzzle-heavy weapon. Obviously, the rail moves weight from, er, somewhere on the II and puts it up front on the III. Does ring vs heart hammer affect geometry and pull weight? Or did they literally change only the external shape of the hammer and leave the mechanical aspects unchanged?
  15. Yeah, I have read that. Twice, actually. But it says almost nothing about the differences between the 2 and 3...
  16. I ran 3,800 rounds through my SDI'd 9L when Ben Stoeger did 4 days of classes here, last month. No cleaning. 3 malfunctions. All of those were rounds loaded with the primer inserted backward. (I don't do any quality control on practice ammo) ... That adds up to zero malfunctions caused by the firearm. I've posted in a very recent thread here about the accuracy improvement. It's now more accurate than I am. I can't shoot smaller than a 2-3" group at 25yd to be honest, but the gun will do that easily when I don't pull a flyer. Wouldn't group under 7-8 inches beforehand with the exact same ammo. I swapped barrels and shot groups back to back. Shocking improvement. Easy to install. Took three hours of slow and careful fitting and testing.
  17. I run a Blade tech body on a BOSS Hanger for the 9PRO with my 9L. As mentioned, I had to take a heat gun to the muzzle of the holster to let my gun drop in and fully latch with a 'click,
  18. One of them will be my next firearm purchase, most likely. I know the 3 has a rail, obviously... The 2 is more accurate due to a cone barrel that the 3 doesn't have? Which one is the better purchase? ...Understanding that I'll strip it down and go through the trigger myself very patiently, then blast and cerakote the gun, most likely. Finish, trigger work, and cosmetic issues aren't factors in which one I choose.
  19. That was the second thing I was going to touch on, but forgot. Call your shot and go: See the sight lift, and get to the next position like your ass is on fire... and don't look back.
  20. For Production I use... factory ones. I just dremel the duckbill off the front and leave it with a squarish profile. Hard to beat free, and they come off as easily as anything else, really.
  21. Load more aggressively, so you can move more aggressively. Ditch the hodge podge of "different heights and different angles" mag pouches and buy five matching ones, a 2-piece belt, and a quality DOH holster. As someone who alternated between IDPA and USPSA for three years (and thus used mixed mag pouches and an IDPA compliant holster in USPSA) I promise you it's holding you back more than you know. Biggest low hanging fruit for you is movement. As I said, the harder and faster you load, the harder and faster you can move during that load.
  22. Crush the gun with your weak hand and relax your strong one so it can better manipulate the trigger. (This is my greatest personal hurdle which became blindingly obvious after 3 days of classes with Ben Stoeger) Grip as hard as your forearm will allow with the weak hand and give it the job of controlling recoil. Right now it's doing... nothing. Watch your gun in recoil. The weak hand's thumb is obviously not tracking with the frame.
  23. Is it supposed to? I'm not aware of any chrono that works with a 60hZ flicker gumming up the works. I always position a bright incandescent light next to the chrono body LOWER than the windows so it can shine up on the bottom of the screens, and have very good results with a Pro Chrono along with one or two other brands.
  24. MTM 100-rd cases for 9mm/380 here, and I load "bullets down" in them. I've only once seen a guy fill it with bullets facing up, and he was a brand new reloader. Of all of the 100 round plastic cases, MTMs are superior to Dillon and everyone else's. Because they have an actual pin-style hinge instead of that cheap strip of plastic that just kinda fold double. So they actually lie flat on a table when open. Everyone else's tries to spring back shut unless you weight the lid down.
  25. Two posts down in this same forum:http://www.brianenos.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=232941#entry2597432
