  1. Well, I don't know if the responses have helped you but they have helped me. I have been shooting L-10 and SS with a .45 for two years now and recently got hot for a single stack in .40. Maybe not.
  2. Buy the Beretta and never look back. I shoot a 686 in .12 and .20. About twice a year I have to talk myself out of buying the .410.

Congratulations on your commitment and being blessed with the support of your wife. I am looking forward to reports of your progress. Go get em.
  4. Unless this will the one and only time all in your group will ever shoot clays, take ALL of the "nice peoples advice". Why not give everyone their best opportunity to be properly intoduced to a new shooting sport? There are no rules against taking both a .20 and .12 ga. shotgun. If one of your group is potentially recoil sensitive a .20 ga. auto with some type of recoil mgmt. system may make the experience more pleasurable.
  5. Offshore boat, RUN-OFF Inshore skiff, STREETGANG After a friend, Willy, sunk his boat while fishing a tournament he bought a new boat. Boat name, you guessed it, WET WILLY.
  6. I am a bottom feeder and plan to shoot the NC Sectional in October. The last time I checked there were 16 shooters signed up in the revolver dividion. My hats off to the revo shooters. I feel like a spas just watching you guys shoot.
  7. I was surprised to find a new classifier score that I do not recall shooting.
  8. A close friend with a wife and three small children lost his life that day in the WTC. I promise you those he left behind will never forget. We all have an obligation to never forget.
  9. Going through a bit of the same with my mom right now. Your mom is fortunate to have a loving and caring family. Prayers sent.
  10. Dead on. Now I better understand what I had thought was performance anxiety. Somehow I new my extremely competitive nature was getting in the way of just shooting well.
  11. Your story is refreshing and gives one hope.
  12. Under the heading of it could be worse I will share my tale of woe. Was separated from the now ex wife for a couple of months and still working toward what is euphemistically called "equitable distribution". No hostility and everyone appears reasonable. I take off to Costa Rica to fish for a couple of weeks with friends and return to find every gun I own except two are missing. The ex claims immediately that they were stolen. I call the police and they meet me at the house to investigate the "robbery". Long story short, the police assure me that there was no robbery. A couple of the guns were family heirlooms and obviously can not be replaced. After getting the back story from her friends it seems that she took exception to the idea that I was enjoying my reprieve from a living hell. I was supposed to be miserable even though the separation was her idea. That aside two years later I am still single, happier than ever and prefer the company of my dog.
  13. Been there and you have my deepest sympathies. After my back surgery my surgeon asked me which was worse, kidney stones or back surgery. I told him that compared to kidney stones back surgery was a day at the beach. BTW, my urologist told me that the minerals in our water was the #1 cause of kidney stones. It seems they occur more frequently in fairly distinct geographical areas. The doctors at Duke said I live in the "kidney stone belt" of eastern NC.
  14. I want to become the person my dog thinks I am. Unknown
  15. If they fly over an impoundment in eastern NC this fall we will let you know what they taste like.
  16. My ex wife tried to redeem her points as part of the "equitable distribution agreement". Now there is a contradiction in terms. Really now, is our fault we are not fully evolved?
  17. Say it ain't so. I feel a rant coming on so I may just back away for the computer now. My resentment of the the tail wagging the dog as regards my business software and Microsoft is barely tolerable. Somewhere right now someone sees the opportunity to sell software that will defeat the advert invasion.
  18. I have used Northstar, Furuno, Sci-Tex, Garmin and a few others. Most of my use is for salt water and the units are hardmounted. I bought a Garmin hand held unit a few years ago for backup and I can't say enough good things about it. Charts are available for mine for just about any location. With the newer technology accuracy within 50' is readily available as well. I am using Garmin chart plotter on my boat now and several of my friends in the charter fleet are as well. To date I have heard zero complaints with any of the Garmin product.
  19. Very impressive. Of course it does not hurt to have Robert and Chuck collaborate on your 1911 project. Is that a S&A magwell?

    before and after

Let'see, cheating, beating, lying..... I like to think I have a warped sense of humor in a mostly healthy kind of way, but I am not so sure about this one. Weird, definately. Funny? Not so sure.
  21. I live on the coast and deal with vacationers three months out of the year. There is no way that these people drive like this at home the other 51 weeks of the year. They would not survive 24 hours. Traffic lanes are completely ignored as half of all turns made on the five lane streets are made from the extreme outside lane. This decision to turn is made a nanosecond prior beginning the turn. As the tourist crosses four lanes of traffic without signalling, they slow down to the speed of smell. I believe they are having some sort of out of body experience and are completely oblivious to the mayhem they are causing. While they cause plenty of accidents they never seem to be involved in the carnage. The locals have identified the drivers from two states in particular as the absolute worst. It is truly a phenomena to be reckoned with. When I am driving and see a vehicle with plates from one of these two states I never take my eyes off of them. Watch them for more than 5 minutes and you will see either an accident or near accident. As near as I can figure when their body goes on vacation their minds go on one at a different location. How else can you explain people literally driving like they are the only, and I mean only driver on the road.
  22. Trust me, it is funny. And true.
  23. I sent my letter today. Bet the proposed regs get plenty of support from the antis.
