Looks for Target

Looks for Target (4/11)

  1. I want to count rounds on my Decapper. A counter on either the Decapper or the case feeder will do the job. Don't suggest a Armanov counter. It could be adapted if the damn thing worked. It worked for a short while and then would not program. Just before the warranty ran out I emailed Rmanov, they responded a couple of time and then went silent. Since it is no longer available I assume they reliability issues. Sorry for the rant. If I do not get any recommendations, Ill fabricate something similar to what I did on my 1100. Thanks
  2. I bought one about a week ago. $599 less 10% veterans discount. I had it at the range twice and very pleased with it. I was the only person on the bay, so I can't say what it would be like with shooters on both sides. By far the easiest chronograph I have ever used. One thing I noticed. When you start a session you have to select either 600 - 1700 FPS or 1700 - 5000 FPS.Don't know how that would work if you had a load at 1700 FPS. 1700 FPS loads.
  3. Just got rid of it. Here I am, using a little body english to pull a wheelie on it.They are available from https://cruzincooler.com,
  4. Saw this this morning, looks very interesting, but requires a total commitment. You have to send your press for modification and they machine it to work with their drive. Looks pretty nice. Has anyone used one? https://tacticaldefenseusa.com/index.php/2022/10/08/the-fast-and-friendly-brass-auto-drive-solution-for-the-dillon-rl1100/
  5. Just stumbled across the Aluminum Adapter, it is available from https://www.davincimachining.com/flared-bushing-adapter
  6. Cost $14.95 from Amazon. Not very elegant, but it works. Link below picture. The magnet that came with it, I put on the tool head (Top Arrow). I bent the bracket that came with it and had to drill the holes a little bigger and attached to existing bolts on the press (Bottom Arrow). I originally used velcro to position the counter in a different place, but it had too much glare to read, so I moved it to it's current position. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01DNLRAUA?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details
  7. I bought the my 650 after the 750 came out to get the rotary primer system. Since I have never used a 750, I don't know if this applies or not. I used a 550 for twenty plus years, occasionally I would have a grain of powder get in the primer seating cup, that would put a dimple in the primer. I would put the loaded rounds with the dimpled primers in my practice ammo and they all went bang, but it was annoying. I did not have that occur on my 650.
  8. I currently have two newer casefeeders, both variable speed, one came with my 1100 and works well. The other was for a 650/750 and has a DAA plate, I don't recall, but likely it did not work as well as my other feeder so I added the Double Alpha plate. The two speed case feeder I bought with my 650 in March of 2019 was a piece of crap. I would quit if it had more than 200 pieces of 9mm brass. Adjusted clutch many time and no help. I contacted Dillon several times and eventually they replaced the tray, but that did not help. I bought a DAA plate and it improved, but was still way sub par to either of my newer casefeeders. I sold my 650 and the buyer wanted the casefeeder, I told of the issues and basically gave him the feeder. When breaking it down, I noticed a deep groove worn around about 1/3 the circumference of the bowl. I told the buyer to contact Dillon, but he probably will not as he is satisfied with the DAA performace. I have used Dillon since the late 80s or early 90s and have found them very responsive an generous in their warranty parts. With the exception of my original 650 casefeeder have been more than happy with their products. My theory is that there are variations in the molded bowls, which results in inconsistent fit causing added friction in places causing a wide variation in the number of cases a casefeeder will handle.
  9. Thanks for posting the picture. After looking at your picture, I had a couple of 1/2 inch diameter rare earth magnets in my shop that I used and they work great.
  10. Would you mind posting a picture of your magnet set up. Sounds like a worthwhile addition for my case feeders. Thanks.
  11. I was looking at the DaVinci manual and it looked like replacing a broken pin took a lot of steps. Have you replaced any decapping pins yet? How long does it take?
  12. That is a totally different. I would agree that the Rollsizer Decapper is not the appropriate tool for a commercial brass processor, it is not near fast enough. Also, while you don't have to watch the Decapper, but you should be nearby to hear it in case it jams.
  13. What are the reliability issues? In my experience, the reliability of the Decapper depends on what you feed it. If you have lots of upside down cases, Berdan primers, wrong size cases mixed in, etc. you likely will have issues with a Decapper. Every jam does not break a decapping pin, depends on the jam. Most of my jams were when I first started using it and most are easy to clear. I am more careful in sorting my brass now, and my casefeeder very seldom throws an upside down case, so my only concern is Berdan primers. If you encounter lots of Berdan primers, a Decapper may not be for you. I only have something over 15K 9mm and 45acp cases through my Decapper and am very happy with it. The count would be higher, but due to health reasons, I have not been shooting for the last month or so. I have had some jams and broke several decapping pins early on and will likely break some more due to Berdan primers.
  14. That looks like a super nice set up you have.
  15. The 1" pipe is snug, but the casefeeder will turn easily enough that I had to put in the bolt to prevent it from turning and not aligning with the Dillon feed tube. Rather than reposting, either tubing or the spring to feed brass are both are addressed in the link below. Includes McMaster-Carr part number for the spring.
