DOUBLE TAP CHAMPIONSHIP 2010

Recommended Posts

Well, Josh and I got into Kansas City at about 2:00 last night (this morning). Now I'm up to go to work. Sucks.

It's amazing the number of conditions we saw while shooting Saturday/Sunday. We had cold/windy/rainy, cold/windy/dry, cold/windy/sleety, cold/windy/snowing and that was just Saturday. The ground was all types, too. Sticky mud when we got there Saturday and it would go back and forth from sticky mud to slick as hell mud to frozen solid mud. And then back and forth again.

Of course on Sunday morning I took a big nose dive on stage two trying to make the 90 degree turn quickly and my feet went out from under me. The guys on my squad said I actually slid when I hit the mud flat and face down. Luckily I didn't sweep myself or blow the 180 or squeeze a round off. I hopped up and finished the stage. But, my CR Speed broke at some point of my gymnastics and I had to borrow a belt rig to finish the match. Then I won a Speedsec holster off the prize table to replace my holster. Woo Hoo!!

The worst part of the weather is that it was so draining. I could see my performance just going down, down and down as the weekend went on. Still a fun match, though.

Chris

Believe it or not, not all of the class winners shot on Friday. Maybe only half of the first place in each division shot on days other than this weekend.

Maybe not the class winners... But the vast majority of the division winners... I don't know when the L-10 div winner shot, otherwise I'd say "all" instead of "vast majority" ;)

Match results will be up when they're up. Chill out. If you want to see the match results sooner, show up at the match...

What I remember is:

HOA - Max

1st Open - Paul Clark, Jr. (2nd overall)

2nd Open - William Drummond (3rd overall)

3rd Open - Dave Re (4th overall)

Limited - Manny

Production - Phil Strader

L-10 - ??

Single Stack - Jacob Daude

Revo - ?? (was there a revo division winner?)

And, yeah, Phil... Tammy Sharp said her score on stage 1 (which was listed as a high 7 second run) was a mistake and it was being fixed in stats. I never saw the updated score, though :)

I never saw a broken down by division set of scores. ...I didn't hear of anyone blowing out knees or breaking bones while shooting in the terrible mud.

Can't wait for next year!

MLM

Division scores were posted on the wall to the left of the overalls, at some point after the overalls went up.

And lets not forget the lady R.O. who fell at the hotel, went to the hospital, and then showed up to work her stage all weekend with a broken collarbone.

My appreciation to all those squads who hustled so hard to tape and reset Stage 4 - Drive In Movie to help us keep things rolling. You guys were a pleasure to work with and made all the effort worthwhile.

Yah, Texas weather can be fickle and at time's on Saturday, I had to flick up my outer shields on my shooting glasses to see the holes to score...Rudy Project, have you guys ever considered lenses with a de-icer :roflol:

But the stages were exceptional fun and, no matter what the conditions, Double Tap is an amazing experience because Robert really puts his heart and soul into this match. And congrats to Steve on a great first outing as Range Master...it can't get too much tougher than this, buddy

Cool, thanks for the update! Wish I could've stuck around for the full results on Sunday...no, not really. Too cold for this warm natured fella!

we only shot 6 stages yesterday instead of 8, and that took until 3:30 or so. So i'm guessing they'll be shooting till about 5:30 or so, then awards and prize table.

After yesterday, I called it quits and left out for home this morning, just got in about 30 min ago. Glad to hear it will be in May next year, cuz i vowed to myself that I wont be miserable for a 4th DT in a row.

+1, That is the main reason I didn't go this year.

Pretty sad when it is warmer up here in Minnesota than it is 1,000 miles south of me.

Congratulations Dave on 4th overall. That can't be easy to slip and slide into and out of a shooting box but you managed to still shoot well regardless. Congrats to all the winners and also to all of you who completed the match.

You know we are an impatient group waiting for the results...mostly because of the Internet and we are accustomed to instant access to information. But you know that... :)

This was my first major match and I had a great time. We were fortunate enough to shoot Friday while the weather was perfect. Great stages and staff and tons of shooting, everything I love in a match. I will be looking forward to the next one!

I had a great time at the match! It's always good to see old faces and meet some new ones.

Thank you to the staff and Ro's. That was some tough weather for you guys and gals.

Nice shooting, especially for shooting Sat and Sun.

PS I watched videos of the match and my hats off to whomever did all that prop work! Very sweet looking props there people. I have a job for you! Call me, we'll do lunch. :goof:

The props were AWESOME. Everything worked smoothly too. My squad didn't have a single re-shoot from stage failure. My compliments to everyone who helped build the stages and put them together. I can't wait to see the scores. I shot friday and, from what I could tell when I left, I had a pretty good match going.

Dude, the props were over the top! The car on the drive-in stage was spot on, as was the dino-crane!

We had some issues with the drop turner first thing on Sunday morning on the bowling stage - something was borked up with it, so that it wasn't activating consistently at all. We had several reshoots there due to that. Other than that, it was smooth sailing for us, too.

Steve's trophies were really cool again, too :)

The Props were great! I had some trouble with the bowling stage but it wasn't from the props!

That must have been taken before the dino took a round across the right side of the neck!
