  1. Texas Single Stack Championships match results: http://www.bullethole.com/scores/bpsc/2013/TSSC_13.htm
  2. Many, many thanks to the shooters who traveled to San Antonio for the 2013 Texas Single Stack Championships! Congratulations to 2013's Texas Single Stack Champion Jeremy Reid. Jeremy won stages 1, 4, 5, 7, and 8 showing once again his strength in the Single Stack Division. Jeremy took home a nice trophy, a cash prize and the traditional bottle of tequilla in the special glass bottle shaped like a 1911. Last year's Champion, Tanner Larsson finished second overall and took home his share of the cash awards and the 1st Master Class trophy. Jacob Daude rounded out the top three. A Class Shooter Carlos Guzman finished 5th overall B Class saw 7 competitors with Zeb Pomerenke taking first place and earning a trophy and cash prize. Brian Quick and Steve Jolly finished 2nd and 3rd B Class. Mr. Quick took how the High LE trophy. C Class had enough shooters to warrant three trophies and cash awards to the top two shooters. Jerome Hansen earned the 3rd place trophy, Michael McKinney the 2nd place trophy and Michael Fiorenze the 1st place trophy and finished in the top 10. Unclassified was the largest field and J. G. Garza, with "Pend" by his name took home the Cliff Watson Honorarium "Unclassified Yet Still Classified" trophy... and a refund of his match fee to boot. High Senior (which include a few of the Super Seniors as well) was won by Ted Bonney who also finished 6th overall. We we able to give back over $1000 in cash prizes and trophies. Thanks to VERY generous donations from Suppressed Tactical Solutions and SOS of Texas we also gave away over $2000 in prizes from the random drawing at the prize table and we saw those prizes spread across the State. Seriously, look to give SOS of Texas and Suppressed Tactical Solutions some business for VOLUNTEERING to provide product for the prize table and nice product at that. (I just signed on a FFA trust and will be getting a suppressor soon, you know it will be from Suppressed Tactical Solutions. The kids need some cool shades from SOS of Texas. http://www.suppressedtacticalsolutions.com/ www.soseyewear.com It got hot and I appreciate the cool tempers as we struggle through the troublesome stage 1 and the bottle neck at Stages 6/7. I heard lots of feedback, overwhelming positive and suggestions for improvement which have been taken to heart. We need to start earlier and we will. A few less movers and those will be used simply to avoid prop problems. And we will shoot this earlier next year in the cooler months as people are ramping up for the Single Stack Nationals. While I was the faceman for this shindig, the real work was done by Jason Miwa, Chris Gourley, Cliff Watson, Tom Pirtle, Boyd Blansett, Kat Sigler, and Keith Sigler. Without their efforts on Thursday and Friday evening and ALL day Saturday there would not have been a match. They looked full on cooked and worn out. I'm buying the drinks, let's make the date.
  3. A local church smokes BBQ and sells it at the range to fund their mission work (feeding the homeless). BBQ plates with drinks will be available for $10.00. Please RSVP with me right away so I can place an order. I promised the Pastor a rough count this weekend and a tally by Friday, 8/23/2013. IF you do not place your order I will not garauntee you will have a plate. RSVP to deadeyeshooters@yahoo.com
  4. Hey y'all. We have a prize table. SOS of Texas forked over 10 sets of eyewear! I just opened the box and checked 'em out- very nice, $40 - $150 in value, $750 total. Remember Ski and SOS of Texas! Damn skippy! https://www.facebook.com/SOSofTexas Also, Mark Jackson of Suppressed Tactical Solutions, LLC, called up out of the blue to make sure he was registered and... ponied up prizes. He sent me a picture of the loot he is hauling up her for the match. SWEET!!! Then I made certain he understood I wasn't giving up sexual favors for all those treats. Some of those prizes are labeled Benchmade, Luminox, has reference to GPS and a bunch of magazines! Mark! Way to come through. Thanks for supporting the sport! http://www.suppressedtacticalsolutions.com/ Man, I am happy we aren't sending shooters home with just a watch under their belt. I'm waiting to hear from a few more...

  9. I only trust my 1911 friends to give good advice on guns.
  10. Why would it get you in trouble? I just googled that up... looks like a S&W M&P- please tell me the trigger is better than the M&P.
  11. I'm thinking of shooting a little production. Looking for a gun recommendation. I don't want a CZ- nothing wrong with 'em, but like a Glock, EVERYONE is shooting them- Glock or CZ, CZ or Glock. I'm not a big Sig fan either, too civy SEAL-fan boyish. H&K- not sure they could pay me. I'd prefer something proven to win so what's left? ETA: A friend who shoots an XDm recommended them- not just no, but hell no- because he shoots it. Tangfolio, a frenchman shoots one- not just no- but hell no (ok Eric G is a hellagood shooter, I just don't swing like that so Beretta's are out as well, besides, who can find an Elite anymore?)
  12. I agree. Doomed. No posterboy status for me.
  13. Heard today at 12:55 pm in Dury's in San Antonio: "My 1911 is a Colt series 70 and with it at 25 yards I can hit a golf ball." While walking past him on the way out I overheard: "With a 1911 anyone can shoot tight groups."
  14. Via the Texas IPSC email communications an observation was made: Our contact at MADD responded: How ya like them apples? MADD has stood up to political pressure and said this is not about gun control or Sandy Hook. They deserve our thanks and support for that. Please consider coming and shooting. If not, send a dontation to MADD at the address Caitlin provided.
  15. UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE The Bullet Hole Practical Shooters will host a fund raiser match for Mothers Against Drunk Drivers. There will be trophies for USPSA HOA, and Top Open, Limited, and Production shooters. All divisions recognized, but only trophies for O, L, and P. Registration will start at 8:00 am, Match starts as soon as all are registered (or 9:00 am, whichever comes first). There are two matches happening- $35 to shoot one, or $50 to shoot both There is an accuracy only match called the LEO/MIL-PER match and a USPSA match. If you shoot both you shoot the LEO/MIL-PER accuracy match first and when finished, rotate through the stages and shoot 'em again by USPSA rules: Each member of the squad shoots the stage once then rotates. When finished, those who paid for both, "matches" rotate through again and shoot the stages again by USPSA rules. Yes- if you paid only for the USPSA match, then during the first rotation you are shooting by USPSA rules with your squad. The LEO/MIL-PER trophies are reserved for the LEO/MIL-PER shooters and team. There is also over $1000 on the prize table. You need not be present to win. We will run some random drawings on the names of all entrants so that not all prizes go to the top shooters. Everyone gets a chance to win. Minimum round count for USPSA is 83; lots of movers and no-shoots. Maximum round count for the LEO/MIL-PER match is 141. For $50 you can shoot 8 stages, almost 200 rounds, donate to a worthy cause, and possibly win a trophy and a prize. What better way to end the year?!
  16. The match will now start at 9:00 am FOR EVERYONE. (or when everyone is registered, which ever comes first) Regsitration will start at 8:00 am. Hope to see ya there!
  17. Since I learned from MADD there will be some non-LEOs shooting the LEO/MIL-PER match I opened to everyone. Same fee structure- $35 to shoot one (either LEO/MIL-PER or USPSA) and $50 to shoot both. Since there is no time component in the LEO/MIL-PER match your holster won't matter. If you shoot the USPSA match then you register in the appropriate Division for your equipment to be legal. I don't want this to turn into a rules match. It's a fun match- donate some money to MADD, shoot some, maybe bring home a trophy and a small prize.

  19. Ladies and Gentlment (and the rest of you shooters): The local representatives of MADD approached the Bullet Hole Shooting Range and asked that we host a fund-raising shooting event. The range agreed and I have been tasked with directing the match. On December 29, 2012, the Bullet Hole Shooting Complex will hold a match to held raise funds for Mother's Against Drunk Drivers. All match proceeds will be donated to MADD. MADD initially thought they'd hold an LEO only match. I talked her out of it as I did not think that we could raise the $1000 they hoped to generate on LEO only. If you are LEO, don't be insulted, just show up and prove me wrong. Here is what will happen. We will have 4 stages of 20-30 required rounds. Expect to shoot a bit more than 100 rounds but not more than 150. Essentially 4 field courses. The LEO and Mil-Per will shoot starting at 9:00 am. Their courses of fire will be accuracy only, but with many moving and disappering targets (swingers, drop turners, clamshells) the challenge will be substantial. There will be a traveling trophy for the agency which fields a team of 3 shooters which scores the highest points. There will be recognition of the LEO/Mil-Per who scores the highest. MADD is seeking donation of prizes. Contact me for a set of the rules if you are interested. At 11:00 am, the USPSA match will start. Standard USPSA rules, divisions, classes. MADD is also seeking prizes for the top finishers at the USPSA match. If anyone cares to help us round up some nice prizes, please do so. The match fee will be $35 if you shoot the LEO/Mil-Per Only match, $35 if you shoot the USPSA match, or $50 if you shoot both. The LEO/Mil-Per match is for LEO/Mil-Per only. But they are welcome to shoot the USPSA match. This is about raising funds for MADD. Please consider joining us on Saturday, December 29, 2012.
