God forbid people shoot at cardboard with "heads"... that and some connections to using a firearm as a weapon. Good for us I say. JFlowers Posted April 16, 2009 Share Posted April 16, 2009 Actually, almost every country has its own Practical Shooting Association, and each is just the national organization that represents IPSC in that country. USPSA is just larger and a bit more independent that most. When matches are described offically as USPSA matches or IPSC matches, its just a matter of which rulebook, the base IPSC one or the USPSA version, is being followed. Why are we not part of IPSC (like the rest of the world)? We are part of IPSC. Last time I checked we are still an IPSC Region. Yes, a french man has won the last 3 world shoots, but without the USA presence they would have been hollow victories. And the USA does not have as many shooters as the rest of IPSC, we have MORE. We were assured both targets were separate but equal, and there was no intent to eliminate the original target. Boudrie predicted this would be the next step. IPSC defenders stated he was wrong. IPSC encouraged regions holding World Shoots to use ONLY the PC target. IPSC moved the PC target to "second" in the rulebook to make it easier for regions that wished to hide the heritage of our sport from readers of their copy of the book by simply removing one illustration IPSC removed the PC target from the book The IPSC GA voted to remove the non-PC target as an authorized target As a semi-related act of PC, the World Shoot in Cebu was asked (not ordered) to remove their very nicely done stage diagrams since their presence on the web made it harder for some region's competitors to hide the nature of their sport from their overlords. The needs of the US and non-US regions differ, and are walking different paths. The US region has not chosen to walk the path of political correctness, and is not interested in playing the game of "let's see if the anti-gunners will hate us just a little bit less if we water down our sport. Actually, the little french man has won the last 4 world shoots all the way back to 1999. And without the US presence the only competition he would have would be Saul Kirsch.
