zhunter
'cause it's out in the middle of nowhere and they (conveniently for movies) have a very flammable & fragile fuel/power source apparently in each room that provides energy for the hotel. How odd...Rich Looked like Hydrogen, that is odd

shootingchef
Sadly this movie made me miss Roger Moore, who at least had fun playing Bond. I was also saddened by the lackluster introduction of S. Fields, a afterthought splice into the middle for no purpose other than they remembered that Bond likes Women. mpeltier
For me it was so-so. Opening music score was absolutely awful, whoever approved it must be tone deff. I have all 21 approved Bond movies in my collection and this was by far the worst music score of them all. The artistic nature of the video/graphics was good and very much in tune with classic Bond movies. Opening action scene was great. I still have a hard time with "Quantum of solice" and "Casino Royale" portraying James Bond with less poise and sophistication. He seems more Americanized to me in these latest versions of 007. The touch screen computer table was amazing, I want one....to go along with my Jet-pack and Lotus esprit submarine. It will make it into my collection. XD Niner
I give it a two of five stars. I was very disappointed. Although I fully realize it was intended to be an action fick, there was no plot at all. And for Pete's sake when is he going to start carrying a real pistol instead of that pea shooter? oddjob
Saw it today..........not close to Casino Royale (which I thought was great). Pleasant movie though..............At least the PPK made it back and that "rope" from Casino Royale didn't!!!
carinab
Quantom isn't a "stand alone" film, it's a direct sequel - with the story literally taking place hours after the last scene in Casino Royale. Which is partly why it doesn't stand well on it's own in comparison. I think a summary or some sort of monologue by M in the beginning could have made the connection more clear and thus made the plot more cohesive. Flash blacks would have also helped. Because I hadn't watched Casino Royale just before seeing Quantom, some touches were too subtle to easily pick up... Like Bond not sleeping; he hadn't slept since he lost Vesper. Various character were telling him he looked tired but I didn't pick up on that until well into the scene between Bond and Mathis on the plane. I have to agree that Fields and Leiter weren't given enough screen time. But as for this grittier, less refined interpretation of Bond, I re-read the novel Casino Royale and I find this iteration to be more in sync with the written character. norbs007
I actually like it. As carinab mentioned, it started where they left off from Casino Royale and cannot be judged on its own. Although cinematography wasn't all that great, I find James Bond's character was reflected the way it was intended. No high tech gadgetry, just a fancy cellular phone, some fancy telecom and computer interface. It's more like an introduction to the James Bond world all over again; Quantum is the new Spectre. I do agree that the story could have been played out much better.
3quartertime
Just got to see this finally... Agreed it was nothing like 'Casino Royale', but it was good. This new bond is incredible. The wrinkles in his face. The way his eyes are basically just glassed over the whole time. Incredible. This gives me an insight to the original Bond character that none of the others ever got close to. Like most my favorite has always been Connery. This is different. WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY different and I like it alot. I'm hooked... EDIT; After typing that I was thinking why this bond is so different to me. What I thought was this... If I saw James Bond in a bar what would I think? All of the other Bond's I would probably think this guy is out of place. This guy I would maybe think he is out of place, but I would be worried about what he will do next!!! lol...
