rtr
Saw this little bugger in my yard today, never seen him before. We have regular ground squirrels, chipmunks, mice, and cotton tail rabbits, but don't know what this is. He looked a little like a squirrel, but had a tail longer than his actual body, total length of 2-3ft I would say, looked like he weighs only a few pounds. Grey color with white and dark gray spots. Any ideas? (Hint he's in the middle of the picture on top of the rock.) I live in Colorado Springs, CO near the foothills at about 6,200 feet. HSMITH
Looks almost like a chinchilla from the picture, but I have never seen a chinchilla with a tail that long........ From your location it could be a pine marten, but I have not seen a marten in that coloration...... They should be a dark chocolate to almost black this time of year. A marten looks a lot more like a weasel or a ferret than a squirrel, a chinchilla looks more like a rabbit than a squirrel. I would bet it is just a big squirrel. Norad irradiated extra big squirrel.....

D.Hayden
I think his name is Bob.. (sorry, couldn't resist) Without seing the face, looks like a common ground squirel with 'tail extendtions'.
rtr
Haven't tasted it, could barely get a picture of it let alone shoot it. Folks on another board think its a squirrel of some sort, but I can't find a picture of anything that looks like it anywhere on the net.
