your tube is out of spec then, mine fits in every mil-spec tube I have.

That may be, but at .994" OD I'm surprised it goes into a mil-spec tube.  Next time I have it off I'll measure.

As I remember the early slug was a little bit oversize...  They came out with a second slug that was a bit smaller in diameter and had flat spots on the circumference to let air pass through...  Similar to the buffer piston.

The one you described, that is the one I have.

What hydraulic buffer / spring do you recommend for 13" radial delayed blowback PCC with carbine buffer tube?

On Blitzkrieg product page it says:

This buffer is also an excellent choice for the CMMG radially delayed blowback 9mm guns.

I'm having hard time deciding between PCC HD buffer RB5015HD and carbine buffer RB5000.

Do you reload?

No, just 124gr factory ammo.

Keep in mind, even though you are Radial Delayed, you are still a PCC, not a .223/5.56, so pressures will be higher. I would recommend the HD or SD Buffer, probably the HD but a search might yield you better results on this forum.

Ok guys, I have made some changes to my PCC and I love the changes.

Changes

  • A5 Buffer Tube (ditched the AR15 Carbine buffer tube)
  • Blitz 5020SS (ditched the Blitz 5015HD w/ 2.5oz Weight/Spacer)
  • Removed .49" Nylon Spacer
  • Re-tuned Load to 129PF
  • Stern Defense 9mm NiB BCG (ditched the Taccom ESSB - still a great BCG though)
  • JP Tuned & Polished Extra Power Carbine 308/9MM Spring (JP-S-OSC-308)(ditched the Sprinco Orange 308 Spring) (I also tried the Sprinco Red Spring with this setup, it was too light causing unburned powder).

The PCC is recoiling much softer and smoother. At 25 yards I can consistently split .17-.20 in the A-zone. I can also consistently split .14-.16 in the Head A-Zone at 11 yards. Groups are significantly tighter as well. Between 0-10 yards, I can consistently split .12-.15 in the A-zone. I even tested plate racks both inline and horizontal and poppers with no issues.

Overall I am extremely happy with these changes and the way the rifle is running. I ran 500 rounds flawlessly.

I have a LIKE NEW Taccom ESSB for sale if anyone is interested, has roughly 100-200 rounds through it.

You use Federal SPP primers with your PCC! why?

No, free country but just throwing good Federal primers away on something not calling for it.

"Free country" is an illusion and "Freedom of Will" is almost entirely gone.

I mainly use CCI, but if/when I don't have any, I use Federal. I try to keep the Federal for my CO rig.

Do you attribute that to any particular change?  You shed 1.5 oz. by swapping the standard buffer and weight.  Your short stroke is about the same with the A5 tube.  So why?

I made changes that were recommended to me buy a PCC guy. I made too many at the same time to know what did what, but its significantly better.

The BCG is actually 1.5oz heavier (weighed with scale) than the Taccom, but lost 1oz in the Buffer, so that is close to sixes. With the A5 tube, it has a fuller stroke about 1/2" more than the other setup. However, leaving everything as is, only making 1 change, that being AR15 Carbine Tube vs A5 Tube, with the same Spring, it charges so much easier and smoother in an S5 tube.

God, maybe its all placebo lol, who knows. I am not an engineer or physicist myself lol.

I'm not surprised.  They recommend a rifle length spring in the A5.  You are using a carbine spring.  I'm using the same buffer and weight you were using in a carbine tube with either the JP .308 or 5.56 spring.  I get no dot bounce at 144 PF, but I do when I drop down to 132.  I'd like to get rid of it.

I'm having hard time deciding between PCC HD buffer RB5015HD and carbine buffer RB5000.

I run a CMMG RDB with the following set up. It is very smooth with very little dot movement.

  • A5 Buffer Tube
  • Blitz 9mm buffer 5015HD with blitz spacer weight
  • Tubbs flat wire spring
  • 124gr reloads running 136 PF

With an A5 tube the spacer/HD buffer short strokes the system to the perfect length since the bolt length is the same as a 5.56 AR.
