cbrussell
What is everyone’s input on the Sprinco and DPM recoil reduction systems? Do they any impact on accuracy or ease of racking slide? What are the pros and cons of each? Thanks
TONY BARONE
Tune the springs and the firing pin stop with your load and the rest is up to you. Muzzle flip is controlled by grip and upper body strength.
bokbok_05
Currently using the DPM with my 1911 double stack .40cal pistol. Compared with the DPM and a 11lbs recoil spring on a tungsten guide rod with 180grs major load (171pf), my shot groups are much tighter with the DPM system. Honestly, I did not notice any much difference in recoil with DPM and the standard setup.
GBertolet
Newton's law is in effect here. Unless the recoil energy is converted to heat, it is going to be there. The recoil reducing gadgets, often spread the recoil impulse over a longer time, giving the illusion of softer recoil. One aspect of recoil, to consider, not associated with PF or muzzle energy, is the jet action of the escaping gasses. Higher pressures at the muzzle, add to the physical recoil. Faster burning powders, will have lower gas pressure at the muzzle, contribute less to overall recoil. Not a whole lot, but noticeable. That's why Clays, and other similar powders are so popular in noncompensated guns.
Jim Watson
I tried a Sprinco. It seemed to moderate the FELT recoil a bit but I could not use it in IDPA because the secondary spring rammed the slide against the slide stop so hard as to make a slide lock reload difficult. cbrussell
RIt seems I will stick with my current Cominolli Guide Rod System instead of chasing a red herring. Thanks for all the input.
Prange
I tried the Sprinco and didn't notice any meaningful difference. However, Sprinco is a good company that supports the shooting sports.
MuayThaiJJ
Sprinco has worked well for me, STI Recoil Master was a bit of pain and not as effective, DPM I still need to try
MuayThaiJJ
I just ordered a DPM to try on my CZ Tac Sport, I also might try a STI with the STI RM soon, it probably works better on STI pistols. Will report back
Silver_Surfer
I've got one. Makes locking the slide open a little more pita compared to the standard rod. Edited December 7, 2020 by Silver_Surfer
