tha1000
Someone has altered the sear spring or grip safety to render it inoperable. Or the assembly monkeys at colt accidentally did it. Edited July 14, 2019 by tha1000
Sarge
Need more info. New factory gun? Used gun you bought? Competition shooters typically deactivate grip safeties.

ClayBuster
Bend the leg on the far right out so it pushes the grip safety outwards. If that doesn’t do it call Colt and send it back. Edited July 15, 2019 by ClayBuster
lgh
Gosh, sorry to bring this up but some people inactivate it on purpose. There are a bunch of ways to do it. Kinda make it like a 45 Hi Power. But shoudn't do it if it breaks the rules.

Cherokeewind
Possibly the nose on the grip safety isn't stopping the trigger from moving rearward, sometimes happens on a poorly fitted GS.

If all you did was change springs(ie: if it was working, then you changed springs, now it isn't), adding a little more tension to the grip safety leg should solve it. Otherwise you may need to peen the nose of the stop-bar(for lack of a better term) or replace the grip safety. If the gun is new enough, or came that way, warranty should cover the repair. I doubt that even in a Competition model they would disable the Grip Safety, but can't hurt to talk to them. I like most USPSA shooters disable the Grip Safety, but keep spring tension on it. So the gun feels like normal, but your grip can be a little off and it will still fire. Please let us know what you find out?
