wixthedog
I received the new rifle from the fine folks at MBX shortly before Christmas but since I was out of town I had to wait a couple weeks to get it on the range. I ordered the standard PCC with the 14.5" ultra lightweight barrel with the pinned/welded MBX brake. The only other addition was the extended mag release. This thing shoots! It was purchased for my wife so that she can come out and play with me at range days and matches and we both love it. We had two range days and two local matches so far and it has been a pleasure to shoot and very accurate. I've only run Orr Tactical 115 grain in it and I see no need to move from there. I may play with their 147's after a while but I am in no rush. I did a 10 yard supported group and a 10 yard unsupported group, then repeated at 25 yards using a 6 MOA C-More sight. This is my first time messing with a PCC but I dont think I could be more pleased with it aside from bring filthy at the end of the day. The best part is my wife loves it and now we can spend some more time together. Win win I say. Link to comment
TNREDNECK
I would recommend starting from a bench to make sure you get it dialed in ,and then move to other positions, the PCC is a lot of fun , enjoy . Also I am using the holosun 510c as optic the battery life is awesome ,and the sight size is very nice . Link to comment
TNREDNECK
When we set ours up we start at 25 from a bench supported by sand bags and shoot 5 shoot groups, and adjust as needed till we get it where we want it . Link to comment
phoenixsomd
I have enjoyed mine as well. No matches shot but, plenty of time working up loads and testing. I'm settling on a 135gr Berry's plated RN running on 3.0gr of e3. Link to comment
TNREDNECK
We like the 135 also but are running the blue bullets, we did a lot of testing and are thinking about 124 to see if we can get a little more out of the comp . Link to comment
TNREDNECK
We found the hollow point freedom munitions to be be extremely accurate in 124 and 135 . Link to comment
TNREDNECK
How do you test your Ammo different loads 5 shot groups , at 25 yds ? Link to comment
Aircooled6racer
Hello: Shoot off hand at 25 yards and see how well it groups since that is how you will be shooting it in a match. The 124 grain bullets work the best for me in a AR9 setup. Accurate and work well even out to 100. Thanks, Eric Link to comment
NinerRider
Put it on sandbags and zero for 25yrds, it will hold 1" high or low out to 80-90 yards on most loads. I load a 147 plated with cafe powder and it is plenty accurate for the gun games. Link to comment
wixthedog
Thanks for the advice but she is dialed in pretty well, currently at 25 yards. By supported I was referring to shooting off a bench, and unsupported referring to standing and delivering on my own - like in a match setting. My wife is only interested in USPSA and maybe IDPA so I don’t see much of a reason to do much further. If I decide to do a 2x4 UML match or something I’ll just learn the holds for 100yd stuff. Another range day this morning and she ran like a sewing machine and held zero like a champ. Link to comment
TNREDNECK
She also might like steel Challenge it a lot of fun . Link to comment
wixthedog
She may give that a go if it pops up. I’ve never been a big fan of SC but I appreciate it for what it offers. Link to comment
MoRivera
Ever done any knockdown/walls of steel? That's always a lot of fun. Link to comment
TNREDNECK
It’s a really good way to get comfortable with the gun and learn how to clear misfires ,load mags and become familiar with how the gun functions . Also learn how to shoot fast , and accurate. Link to comment
Posvar
Falling Steel with a loaded up PCC is a ton of fun! She may love that. Link to comment
wixthedog
No kidding! I have a large amount of steel and she hasn't stopped shooting yet. This is getting expensive. Link to comment
ABQautoxer
Any update to this? We're considering one now that we sold another PCC. The ULW version seems ideal for my GF. Link to comment
Bwillis
I have over 8k rounds thru mine without a single malfunction. I know a guy that has 17k rounds thru his. The buffer system is easily tuned to your load. Imo it’s race ready out of the box at a very good price. Their customer service is also good, they’ve answered all my questions within 24 hours. I keep debating another JP but it's fun to try other things and weight would be even more critical for her enjoyment and JP's lightweight ETA was late summer last I knew. Thanks for the update. TNREDNECK
I would disagree with the customer service, the lightweight barrel is ok if you shoot handloads not consistent if you shoot factory ammo. I recommend you stay with JP Link to comment
ABQautoxer
I've read that whole discussion including videos about the barrels, I'd like to leave that out of this if people can restrain themselves, it's been covered in multiple threads. Link to comment
TNREDNECK
No problem just sharing, I believe the gun is fine the midweight barrel shoots nice my son has one . Link to comment

wixthedog
We are a little over 3000 rounds into this one and she still hasn’t had a single failure of any kind, as expected. Accuracy has held without issue and other than cleaning we haven’t done anything. I use Orr Tactical 115gr because it still shoots incredibly soft and I have a ton of it (almost literally). I went woth the ULW barrel because it was a fun for my wife and I knew she would appreciate the few saved ounces over time. Not that we have had any issue with it I would get the midweight if I were getting one for me, but that is more of a personal preference thing. JP makes a great rifle, no doubt. I think either way you will be satisfied but I can confidently say the MBX is a great buy. Link to comment
