dsatchell
I keep reading posts about how the Stock 3 is overweight for IDPA which is 43oz. so I went and got a lightened guide rod from Patriot Defense, a fiber front sight from Dawson, and some G10 Thin Grips by LOK Grips, and a digital scale. Mine is a 10mm and was actually under 43oz stock at 42.6oz https://austincs-my.sharepoint.com/:i:/g/personal/david_satchell_austincs_net/EbL-KFQa-pdImcARp0q0fm8Brma22GAMs4OfPMWffo8NIQ?e=LBSvvi The magazine is an extra 3.35oz https://austincs-my.sharepoint.com/:i:/g/personal/david_satchell_austincs_net/Ear9HrOeZGBLk4Jw0_QwiukBzIwfSyDTCjJwaxlGGQwBnA?e=4pmQCg The G10 Thin Grips by LOK Grips actually weigh more than the stock grips but have much better grip. https://austincs-my.sharepoint.com/:i:/g/personal/david_satchell_austincs_net/EbL-KFQa-pdImcARp0q0fm8Brma22GAMs4OfPMWffo8NIQ?e=l7fKT7 https://austincs-my.sharepoint.com/:i:/g/personal/david_satchell_austincs_net/EQM6jxuxqz5JkScKIM8bH04BIqKHOI-9B8G9JSfTq5N9LA?e=c2d2fc and the new total weight comes in at 42.60oz. https://austincs-my.sharepoint.com/:i:/g/personal/david_satchell_austincs_net/EU1jCaGUBdhLvGl4DPyH-lcBB1COXL5gnDmaKm-KQasQuQ?e=JQ7qLu The only thing i can figure is that when the Stock 3 is 9mm then it is overweight. Dazhi
10mm barrel may be lighter than 9mm, but I do believe you can make 9mm Stock 3 legal for IDPA.
johnbu
The OD of the 9, 40, 10mm, 45acp are the same. so bigger hole means less weight.

David. Well done! Glad to hear you can make weight with the 10mm. I'm curious if your 10mm mag is lighter than my .40. I believe mine and 9mm mags have an extra metal spacer in there for shorter rounds which would add a little weight. A very quick calculation makes me think the weight difference is going to be around 2.1 ounces (heavier) for the 9mm. Not exact but should be in the right neighborhood. A 40 stock 3 shooting 160 grains at around 135 power factor could be a really fun IDPA gun, assuming it fits in the box and their scale agrees with the o.p.'s scale. Brophy-J
Anyone confirm that it fits in the IDPA box? If it does, then the stock 3 extreme would be SSP legal. Thus what ever hammer the s3 extreme uses would be an allowable modification for any other SSP legal Tanfo like the Lim Pro. Does anyone know for sure what hammer the s3 extreme uses? Delta, Titan?? Thank you @dsatchell You my have gotten us a hammer upgrade.
MemphisMechanic
That’s a Titan hammer... (99% of the photos Google Images dredged up appeared to have a Delta installed) https://goo.gl/images/kzuk3X
himurax13
The last time I weighed a 9mm Stock 3, with the stock grips and an empty magazine inserted, it weighed just north of 45 ounces. It should fit in the box since the Match Elite does.
FALAR
My 9mm Stock III 100% stock without a magazine is 41.6oz compared to Stock II at 39.7. Edited January 14, 2019 by FALAR
Localizer
You guys are killing me...does the stock III weight 45oz without a mag as the description says? Anxiously awaiting confirmation & an IDPA box test fit.
FALAR
Read my post above---I just weighed a brand new 100% untouched 9mm Stock III last week before I boxed it up and shipped it to PD.

I did see your post, and if that were very common, people would shoot IDPA with StockIIIs. There are videos on YouTube of folks weighing it at least talking about the weight...pits it out of IDPA. FALAR
I've never shot IDPA but someone else posted the magazine is 3.5oz. 41.6 + 3.5 = 45.1 oz and thus illegal. Lighter grips and a lighter guide rod could probably get it under 43 again. I'm sure there is a bit of variance in this from the factory though. I just bought this Accuteck scale just for weighing guns, slides, barrels, etc because it seems to enter discussions on various message boards all the time. V2plus25
Yeah you've got to get a good scale... or at least the same one they use at major matches to weigh guns. My Lim Pro comes in at 42.6-42.7 with the PD guide rod, Henning grips and Henning basepads. If I had a full-length dust cover I'd have to go with much lighter grips and basepads to have a prayer of squeezing in under the weight limit. Oh and probably swap the super sight with a lighter fixed rear sight.
himurax13
Here is my Stock III. Somehow I doubt that I could get below 43 ounces with a mag unless some slide milling was involved as well.Sent from my VS987 using Tapatalk
