Tcon260
Does anyone make STI Dummy Magazines for dry firing?
Biloxi23
I use a regular magazine with dummy rounds in it.
diver60540
Yep. Brownells has them. Problem is they are made of a softish plastic and filled with shot for the weight. Sooner or later a hole will be worn, and you get a shotty mess. Biloxi's idea is better
a matt
Does anyone make STI Dummy Magazines for dry firing? I had a set, I didn't care for them as much as dummy rounds in my mags...
echotango
That is what I do. I shoot MG's. So for dummy rounds I use reg colored copper bullets and also dunk my brass in cold blue so it turns black. Then I have a visual and know I am using dummy rounds. Aircooled6racer
Hello: You can reload them leaving the spent primer in there. Use measured sand as the powder charge and seat the bullet like normal. As an added measure you can file a ring on the bullet or file a piece of the rim out. I use regular mags as well and should really practice dry firing. Thanks, Eric
Pat Miles
When you practice reloads, do it over the foot of a bed, then it's not a trip to the floor to retrieve your mags. A little easier on the base pads also.
Aircooled6racer
Hello: I know a guy who uses a dog bed to catch his mags so they don't hit the floor. The dog doesn't like it much. Ever seen a mag a big dog has chewed on. Thanks, Eric

Sarge
Yep. Drop them on an ottoman ,bed, etc. When I made dummy rounds I used nickel cases since I never reload those
vtecpaoche
Thanks, I'll have to consider the dog bed catcher. I've been dropping it on a padded bath mat but I think the dog bed may provide better padding.
