etcetera
Want to make VMT 9-shot tube versus 8-shot that's default. Pros / cons of getting the entire longer Nordic +9 extension or just the XL end cap? They both give you 9-round capacity.
roxymajor
XL end cap would let you shoot a couple of matches that only let you have eight in the tube (take back off). I suggest you get a 10 round extension if you are a two- or quad loader. You can then load two after the beep and start shooting with 11 in the gun when appropriate. etcetera
I already have 8 in the tube. I want to get 9. I don't shoot matches that allow 10 rounds, nor interested in having the magazine tube stick beyond the 22" barrel.
Bergy24
Look at the carbon arms versatube. I have one and love it. They sell different size extensions to meet your needs.
etcetera
I did, but the price is kind of not cost-efficient at $200. I can get an XL Nordic extension for $19.99 and end up with the same thing. I am aware that the one-piece Carbon Arms extension will make slugs a little more accurate and make it easier to take apart to clean, etc.
Iowashooter
Someone correct me if I am wrong but I believe the xl end cap is for the old Nordic tube station and the VMT uses a MXT tube. My reccomend action is to not stop at 9 but get 12 round capacity. You will not regret it. You can accomplish this by getting the coupler and another +4 tube. Then you can keep the flush 8 round tube should a match require 8 round limit or go all out with the 12. Iowashooter
I personally run a 12 round tube on my VM and would never go less than that, unless I was forced to. It allows so many more loading options. Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk
TonytheTiger
Iowashooter is correct, a 12 round tube gives a lot more options for load strategies. I know this is true because I'm running a 10 round tube and I quad load. Its not optimal.

etcetera
The original Versa Max uses older Nordic tubes, not MXT but you can upgrade to MXT. This is in my understanding.
gunther
I shoot tacOps, only allow 8+1 in gun. But run a 12rd tube on the gun. It's just makes sense when u can add 2-4rds before you even start shooting (after the buzzer).
StealthyBlagga
VM Tactical uses the MXT tube (the one with the clamp recess). You could also consider the Shooters Source extensions.
factory2nds
I used the+2 end cap that stealthyblagga just linked you to. Replaces the stock end cap and you should be able to use the same length spring. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G920A using Tapatalk

StealthyBlagga
VM Tactical uses the MXT tube (the one with the clamp recess). You could also consider the Shooters Source extensions. Makes sense. Looks good. Any pics of VMT with +2? Or +1? Here you go: Versa Max Tactical with Benelli PG stock, extended choke tube and a Roulette Tactical +2 magazine extension. Below the +2 extension is a Roulette Tactical +1 extension. Unfortunately, Roulette is no longer in the gun parts business, but I understand the Shooter's Source extensions are strongly inspired by the original Roulette design. StealthyBlagga
Thank you for the pic. Pros / cons of Nordic extension vs Shooter's choice extensions? Dunno - they all seem to work. I have never used the SS extension, but I and several friends have run the Roulette +1s and +2s with total success. I also have an older Nordic tube with XL cap, and it also runs 100%. I don't think you can go too far wrong with either. Probably comes down to cost and which color you want. etcetera
I checked the VMT, it does not appear to have the clamp recess in the tube. It's 2+ years old, so maybe that's the reason. It's not the latest "competition" model they came out with recently.
Wild Gene
If you only want 9 in the tube, why don't you just blind load it? Or am I missing something?

etcetera
It might be the most cost-effective solution. I cannot figure out which extension will get me to 9 rounds in the tube, plus 1 ghost-loaded and 1 in the chamber. adamge
I think you want the +5 extension. Seems like the built-in tube holds 4. I know my +8 gives me 12 total in the tube.
etcetera
Sounds right. +8 extension gives you 12 rounds. To get 9, you want +5.
MedicAJ
When I first got my Versamax, everybody was sold out of the +8 Nordic tubes, so I got a +7 and put a Roulette Tactical +1 cap on it to give me 12+1. the 12 shot tube gives you SO much versatility in stage planning. I couldn't imagine going to anything less.
adamge
I wonder how much time it costs us every time we dump or pick up the shotgun with these +8 extensions on the clock, vs a smaller extension.
