  1. I had to cut off another couple of coils, down to 69 or 70, it was so tight that it was binding, and the shell wasn't feeding. I think it's around 16" past the muzzle, not entirely sure. I may have to cut again if I encounter issues with reliability.
  2. Just FYI, I cut off 7 coils to bring me down to 71 coils and the 9 rounds barely fit. I hope that with time, it will set and be a perfect fit. I would rather end up on the side of too much than too little, I can always cut off more later.
  3. I got the +5 Nordic tube which brought me to 9 rounds total capacity. It came with a spring with 78 coils which makes loading 9 rounds impossible, at least until it sets. Do I need to cut off any coils? The stock spring that came with it has 67 coils. I figure one more round should result in more coils?
  4. Sounds right. +8 extension gives you 12 rounds. To get 9, you want +5.
  5. It might be the most cost-effective solution. I cannot figure out which extension will get me to 9 rounds in the tube, plus 1 ghost-loaded and 1 in the chamber.
  6. I checked the VMT, it does not appear to have the clamp recess in the tube. It's 2+ years old, so maybe that's the reason. It's not the latest "competition" model they came out with recently.
  7. Thank you for the pic. Pros / cons of Nordic extension vs Shooter's choice extensions?
  8. Makes sense. Looks good. Any pics of VMT with +2? Or +1?
  9. The original Versa Max uses older Nordic tubes, not MXT but you can upgrade to MXT. This is in my understanding.
  10. I did, but the price is kind of not cost-efficient at $200. I can get an XL Nordic extension for $19.99 and end up with the same thing. I am aware that the one-piece Carbon Arms extension will make slugs a little more accurate and make it easier to take apart to clean, etc.
  11. I already have 8 in the tube. I want to get 9. I don't shoot matches that allow 10 rounds, nor interested in having the magazine tube stick beyond the 22" barrel.
  12. Same here. Getting the same groups as you get. They are more patterns than groups. I think the max safe range with slugs is about 80 meters. Which is really not that bad considering buckshot is maxed out at 40 meters with Flite Control Wad ammo.
  13. Want to make VMT 9-shot tube versus 8-shot that's default. Pros / cons of getting the entire longer Nordic +9 extension or just the XL end cap? They both give you 9-round capacity.
  14. How exactly do you remove the shell latch? Where is the pin and which way do you drive it out? Any close-up pics of the shell latch and the area to polish?
  15. I am almost done with the Re-nelli M4 PG conversion. Some notes: M4 stock needs to be modified a little. It is pretty close but no cigar, not a simple plug and play. There is no way to remove the bolt from stock, I tried everything, red loctite, easy-out, even took to a machine shop. They could not do it. The bolt does not appear to be removable. The correct solution is the Dremel tool - with the flex extension and the cutting kit. Just cut out all the insides minus the sling plate and the plastic tube that the bolt goes through. That should take an hour. Then the bolt and all the unneeded junk just falls out. I wish I had realized this before wasting much time with dead-ends. Then just have to file in the PG area for the perfect fit. I got both 1.25" and 1.5" bolts, either one fits. 1/4x28. A PG stock is what Remington should have included in the "tactical" 22" model, the M4 stock is the best mod one can make to the Versa Max. Ghost-loaded it holds 10 total, and the recoil is surprisingly light.
  16. Do I have to disassemble the M4 stock via the buttplate to install it on Versa Max? It twists off Benelli but does it also twist on the Remington? A little more detail would be appreciated.
