mickd1
no mention from the OP that its a uspsa competition like some have said he could place it in his front pocket to clear a double feed if its a ipsc comp,
JAFO
5.2.10 says you can't have something like a magazine forward of your hip bone in Production. It doesn't specific as long as you don't use it it's ok to be there ... so you have a magazine in a front pocket and although it's not visible it's pretty obvious you have a mag in there. You actually have no intention of using it, it's just where you carry a spare mag. Are you going to get bumped to open for this? Not in USPSA, per this part of 5.2.4: Should the division restrict the location of the magazines or speed loading devices, carrying them in apparel pocket(s) forward of the restriction point will be allowed providing they are not removed from the apparel pocket(s) between the “standby” command and the command “ if clear, hammer down and holster”. Once you pull that mag to use it during the COF, you are bumped to Open. Edited August 31, 2015 by JAFO

Gary Stevens
Boy if someone would invent some form of cloth enclosure that could be attached to the back of a pair of pants.
kcobean
Boy if someone would invent some form of cloth enclosure that could be attached to the back of a pair of pants. Almost like a front pocket, but in the back? They could call it a 'back pocket'!

Boy, if someone would actually try to stick something in that mythical enclosure when there's a row of mag carriers on the belt blocking access to it....... teros135
How about putting the thing into an empty "mag holder" device? That's what they're made for...
Nimitz
He used the magnet comment in relation to being able to put the mags anywhere after the start signalStill can't use magnets after the beep in USPSA Production and SS. welcome to open ..... PatJones
How about dropping the offending magazine on the ground and grabbing a fresh one off your belt? Seems faster to me. Edited September 1, 2015 by PatJones
slavex
If the timer has gone beep you can stuff mags anywhere you want, that's why we can use magnets for mags on tables. you can't use magnets in uspsa production (or SS). Not sure your analogy works. and that's why I mention USPSA might do things differently than IPSC. So can we clear this up once and for all? In IPSC what is being asked is totally legal as the event (stuffing the mag in the pocket and then reusing it) takes place after the start signal. But I will admit to being confused on the USPSA answer.

This Unless you only have two mags left, why bother? Just dump it and go
