vixty
I would like to put the gold team safety on my stock 2 but I want to make sure its production legal before I drop the 120 bucks. the part number on the eaa website is 102111
haiedras
I'm interested too. can't imagine why it's not, I've currently got the limpro safety on both my st2s.
haiedras
Hmm...per production rules: safeties have to either be offered on the same production gun or another approved production gun. custom parts are only considered ofm if they're on a production approved gun. AFAIK, the gold team safeties are oem, but not offered on a production approved gun.
vixty
I think it might come on the witness limited pro which is on the approved list but im not sure if that gun has been replaced by the elite limited pro.
haiedras
The limpro only has a single sided giant wing safety. No idea on the elite limpro, I don't see it on either the uspsa or ipsc production lists.
vixty
it technically only needs to be on the one side because the gold ambi safety has the normal safety on the right side which is production legal. So I would think the gold safety should be legal
s0nny_g17
It is ipsc production legal here in the Philippines
vixty
Sweet! Now where can I find that in writing or on a gun so I have some proof in case anyone asks?
kneelingatlas
The Limited Pro has a left side safety which is identical to the Gold Team safety, the Stock II/III have a right side safety identical to the right side safety, but there isn't a Production legal pistol I'm aware of with both. vixty
Well since the limited pro has that style shouldn't it make the safety legal. Just like some put thin safeties on the rhs of their cz shadows
Yagi
Legal. It is a factory part. (It is the same logic as a glock 17 mag release using a glock 34 extended or a powder river precision trigger on an xdm) What you need to find out is when you place your pistol inside the uspsa box. You will find that it is tight or most cases it is too wide and the box wont close.
vixty
Good point yagi, I didn't even think about that. Hmmm
Garmil
Legal. It is a factory part. You will find that it is tight or most cases it is too wide and the box wont close. Not a good example, glock 17 and 34 are both on the production list so yes you can swap stock parts. The gold team is not on the list so you can not use its external parts (unless the same part is factory on a production list model)
s0nny_g17
The part doesnt have to be in production list it just have to be originally made by the manufacturer(tanfoglio) ang being used in one of their pistols
kneelingatlas
No need to argue, the rule book is pretty clear. Appendix D4, 21.6: "Any other components which are externally visible may ONLY be replaced with OFM parts which are offered on the specific model of gun or another approved gun from the same manufacturer except as specifically clarified below"
vixty
Its on the limited pro so as long as it fits in the box I think its good to go.
kneelingatlas
Its on the limited pro so as long as it fits in the box I think its good to go. The Limited Pro has a single sided safety, probably so it fits in the box.
vixty
Sonnyg-17 said they are ipsc legal, so don't they use the same box we do?
BeerBaron
They don't use a box for ipsc production. Yes the safeties are ipsc legal as they are an option from the oem. But uspsa have some rule differences. Particularly around production division. It 'should' be legal as offered on the lim pro.
vixty
Sonny sent me a measurement of the safeties on his ipsc gun and they in fact are 4mm to wide for the production box
haiedras
Doh. Oh well, guess I'll continue to play with the limpro safety. That definitely fits in the box, it did at nationals.
vixty
Is that just the one sided safety? I wouldn't mind using that with my stock 2 if it will work.
haiedras
It is, basically like having one big ass 1911 safety to rest your strong side thumb on.

No it doesn't. Mine was ambi with the gold team on the left side and something similar to the stock 2 on the right brand new right out of the box. Either way, it sucked and kept my grip to low for my liking. I kept bumping it and that got really old really quick. I went to flat witness style and could not be happier.
