Wow, guess Sig is really trying hard to push their new P320.... I can already hear the P320 fan boys stirring.... Max is a great dude though. Doesn't matter what you puts in his hand. He'll shoot it and have a positive attitude about it. The guy is a driven winner. You could give the him a high point with a red dot sight from a nerf gun, throw him in open, and he'd still win with a 10% lead over the 2nd place guy.

Max shooting an actual Sig firearm in competition makes more sense than shooting a custom Open gun with Sig logo etched in the slide. I am actually kind of surprised how he was able to shoot a non-Sig firearm in competition for so long in the first place. He dabbled with Single Stack using a Sig 1911 just before the Single Stack Nationals but that really doesn't count for much either.

Who really knows what goes on at that level of sponsored shooting/marketing. Us in the peanut gallery sure as hell don't and won't know the whole story. Maybe he simply wants to shoot with something different after achieving his goal of winning the world shoot in Open?

As many others have already said, regardless of what pistol or division he chooses to compete in, there will be a significant beat down given to his competition on a regular basis. He is a phenomenal shooter regardless of the firearm he is tasked with shooting.

Yep! Well said

............if water pistols were a division, I am sure Max would be a winner..........

If Sig wanted to sell more P320's, Max shooting one would do it. If he won the nationals with one they would sell out. I sent him an email asking him if he is switching to production!

True. Most shooters are sheep. Tanfo's would be up for sale everywhere and p320's would have a waiting list.

In the meantime, most people still wouldn't dryfire regularly, lol.

I am not sure that the "Win on Sunday, Sell on Monday" marketing strategy actually works too much any more. If it did everyone shooting Production would have dumped their XD's, Glock's, or CZ's to for a Beretta 92 when Ben won the nationals with it.

The vast majority of shooters are going to use whatever they like or are familiar with regardless of what the top dogs are winning matches with.

Anyone shoot it yet? Reviews?

There are a few review. It's surprisingly good. Here is my stock P320 at the range the other day. I was hoping that you get some video documenting what type of muzzle flip I would get with it but unfortunately didn't get the slide in frame. It's very accurate out of the box and the trigger travel is short for a striker fired gun with a short and tactile reset. Trigger pull weight around 6-7 lb. Bruce Gray and a few others are hard at work perfecting trigger and other competition modifications for the P320.

I appreciate Alma's comment!

At this time I can only say that SIG Sauer is putting forth a substantial initiative to develop and promote the P320 Modular Handgun System platform for competition. Our company is heavily involved in this initiative, and other specialists in our industry are lending us support and input. We are already seeing an intense amount of interest in this pistol from Production shooters. The full scope of what we're doing will be made public as we go along next year.

I am also to understand that the incomparable Max Michel is indeed planning to run some Production next season with two pistols set up for him by Robert Burke. I literally cannot wait to see him shred with the new SIG striker gun. I predict it will be nothing short of epic.

If the world of practical shooting to which I have devoted my professional life still holds an earthly purpose for me to fulfill, such that my physical being should be recalled to my bench from the shadowy clutches of Death, working with the P320 is it.

We know the P320 intimately and have been working with it intently to divine it's last secrets and tease out of it every last bit of it's immense potential. As it stands, it represents a degree of innovation that sets it apart from everything else, and is a superb, bravely conceived duty weapon. (I plan to switch to a stock P320C9 for duty / carry myself.) I truly believe the P320 is going places. In a big way. And we are deeply humbled to be invited along for the ride. There will be room on the bus for everybody.

(I apologize to the Moderators if my comments appear unduly commercial. It's a decade past time I bought a page here; send me the bill!)

First off, SIG supports the shooting sports in a big way. I give them complete kudos for that. When we ran A7 at the SIG Sauer Academy they ate a TON of money putting on the match. Closing their school for an entire week was a drop in the bucket. Second, we have a JR shooter, Mason Lane, in NH shooting Master with a stock P320. It's really not a bad gun for the money. The only thing holding the P320 back is the lack of aftermarket support. I'm hoping they update the gun so it doesn't have the cutout's from the 250 and a more aggressive checkering would be nice.

On the checkering front one really nice thing is that the grip frame modules (basically everything that would be considered the frame on a Glock minus the serial number slide and rails) not only replaceable but run about $40 each. I have seen some nice aftermarket stippling jobs and having a cheap part to work on that doesn't have any special requirements for shipping should make it pretty easy to have grips customized. Also, at $40 you can have multiple grips for the same gun with various levels of aggressive stippling, skate tape, or none of the above.

That's pretty much what I had in mind for my p320. I just need to shop around and find a good stipple shop. However, if Sig comes out with a texture to rival the Gen4 glock it would be IDPA legal. Not to mention, Sig could sell a ''ax Edition' frame. Personally I think the P320 frame should be considered the same as a removable blackstrap and therefore stiplable in SSP but that's life.
