So one thing struck me as odd about this 9x19 gunbroker listing that Snowgun told us about - what's the deal with the font of CAL 9X19? This is nothing like I've seen. So what do y'all think? No way to call and check the serial with EAA as the seller has blurred everything.

Gunbroker listing:

Every other Stock 3 I have seen has very simple text. I present 2 other 9x19s and one 40. I will concede that the font on the 40 does look a bit different than the 9s but it is much closer than the 9s here than the 9 in the listing.

If you would like to know the serial number, feel free to email me at Kate.Arnzen@arnzenarms.com

I would also be happy to provide any other photos requested. My best guess is that they changed the style of the markings since the last batch was imported?

I blur the serial numbers on most of our Gunbroker auctions because some people are picky about the serial number of their future gun being visible on the web. Not something that I worry about personally, but it's a common practice on Gunbroker.

Thanks,

Technical question, slide has only "Stock" not "Stock III" written on it. Is it production legal?

I'm not an expert, but I would assume so, because the product code/UPC associated with this gun is 600595/ 741566601309 (as marked on the box, with the serial # on there as well), which matches EAA Stock III listing on their website: http://eaacorp.com/portfolio-item/stock-iii-tanfoglio/

I'm guessing that association with a certain product code is likely more important than what is actually stamped on the gun, as far as production legality goes. There are definitely other instances where you can see that happening - for example, the CZ 75 SP-01 Accu-Shadow or SP-01 Shadow Target on USPSA's production list don't have "Accu-Shadow" or "Shadow Target" stamped on them anywhere - just CZ 75 SP-01 Shadow.

Otherwise, that would be a big problem for this latest batch of Stock 2's and Stock 3's getting imported - the Stock 2 that we had on our hands briefly was similarly marked. Instead of "Stock II 919" on the right side of the slide, it just had "Cal 9x19" like the Stock 3's we received. It had the nice new grip style though! For whatever reason, the Stock 3's didn't.

What is this new grip style you refer to?

I'm not sure about the witness/EAA branded stuff if you have seen guns marked stock II or stock III on the slide but the tanfoglio branded guns I've seen all just say "stock" on the slide regardless of whether it's a stock II or stock III. in fact the aus issue tanfoglio stock II's say "stock" on one side and "Limited 38" (in the case of 38 super guns) on the other.

The marking on the slide doesn't impact it's eligibility as long as it's the right model. and there is no reason to question these, they have all the right specs. don't get too hung up on slide markings. :)

I've always heard there is no large framed stock 3's in America. Unless you smuggled it in somehow. It sure seems like these are legit to me. Can someone just say that the thought that there aren't any is a myth with no basis whatsoever. Or did it have basis that just changed, because they are now shipping them to us here in the US.

They are engraved tanfoglio...I can't imagine EAA has anything to do with the production of these grips but I could be wrong. Tanfoglio doesn't list them on their site at all.

KArnzen> Can you let us know where that pic came from? I tried searching but can't find those grips anywere, even on EAA's site.

oh boy here we go again.

Its been illegal in Production forever to change a G20 out to a .40 barrel. Why would it be legal to change a 38 Super out to 9mm? That's changing the caliber.

And fwiw, aftermarket barrels are legal in USPSA.

Check 21.3
