Powder check buzzer - can this be made quieter?

Recommended Posts

I live in an apartment and the powder check buzzer is quite loud. I don't have much ambient noise in my place, so I'd hear the buzzer even if it were turned down a bit. Is there any way to attenuate the volume of the buzzer?

I realize I could remove the powder check die altogether, but since I've got it, I'd like to use it.

I put two layers of blue painters tape over the speaker grill and trimmed it with a razor. Looks like it was made that way and it is 59% quieter.

Tried this same thing and was only able to get to 57.9% quieter. :goof:

Seriously though, I love solutions like this... simple, inexpensive and the results look professional. Nice Tip!

Perfect, thanks! Maybe if I put a third layer, I'll get it to 66% quieter.

Well it's not like it buzzzzz all the time. What once during a loading session.

I'm in the setup phase, so there's a whole lot of beeping going on.

If your concern is buzzing during setup, just remove the powder check rod. To set up the powder check rod, that should only be 2 or 3 beeps at the most.

I do like the idea of the painters tape too! Simple, cheap and effective!

I wired directly into both the PC die and low primer alarm on this machine.

Just using the switches now, no batteries or buzzer.

you are an amazing man with your contraptions. I wish I had the time to play with and design things like that.
