chuckbradley
Thanks to you guys here for informing me about the IDPA Nationals. I have succeeded in getting the match date changed. Mike Voigt has given approval along with Gary Stevens and Lee Leonard. The Area 5 will now be Sept 30th, Oct 1 & 2. Now I expect all of you to attend It actually wasnt that big of a deal since none of the applications have been done or printed yet. I think Rhino will be happy, should be a littel cooler and with it being different than IDPA maybe Julie will be back.
Bill Nesbitt
Is this going to be "revolver friendly" like last year? I know of several revolver shooters planning to attend. Bill Nesbitt
Carmoney
Crap--those are the same dates as the Missouri Fall Classic in Rolla (not exactly what you could call a revolver-friendly match, but a fun one nonetheless). Sure you want to pick that weekend with another major match going on just two states away? Many shooters who might attend both will be forced to pick. chuckbradley
I found out after we made the announcement. We looked on the USPSA web page calendar to see if there was anything else going on and we also have to get this date approved by USPSA President as well. I think it may be better to stick with what we had , how many would we really loose to IDPA Nationals anyway? Will let you know once we come to a decision? Is there anything going on the weekend of the 16th? If so do you think it will really take from our attendance? We really want the Area 5 to be a great match. Revolver freindly I am sure. Dont have the stages yet but I know Gary has final say over them and he is a 10 round type of guy. He likes arrays of 5 & 6.
Chuck Anderson
Chuck, the weekend of the 16th would conflict with the Steel Challenge and the Area 1 3-Gun match in Bend.
Carmoney
How about switching it to a weekend in August? There seems to be very little shooting going on around the midwest all throughout the month. Several of us from Iowa would certainly try our best to make it out for the match. Either way, thanks for trying to be flexible on this--it's never easy trying to pick a date that'll work for everyone.... Mike

I know of at least three people that frequent the IDPA Nationals that would like to shoot the Area 5 match this year. If you had five people and it cost $100 per person to shoot the Area 5 Match that is pretty simple math. I don't know about your club but most would be willing to do a lot for an additional $500-1000 for the club. Moving the date is a pain but might be cost effective to schedule it on a weekend with no other shooting events.
rhino
The change to 30SEP-02OCT05 worked better for me than the original dates. My August is booked pretty solid. If you need to move it to August, you're going to need someone else to do the scores.
Gary Stevens
Folks, if we do have to conflict with the Missouri match, I promise you that anyone who wants to shoot both matches will be able to shoot the Area 5 anytime they want to up to the closing shot. If I have to be on the range by flashlight, we will get you through the match. Chuck Bradley has assured me he will hold the flashlight Gary

chuckbradley
Ok, with all considered we have decided to stick with the original date of Sept 23-25th for the Area 5 match. We believe there will be less crossover from IDPA than from another IPSC match so close to ours. Anybody who wants to shoot Area 5 and the IDPA nationals we will try our best to work with you so it will be possible. Come out & play with us. You can count on fun stages. Nothing you will walk away from feeling you just survived or crashed your whole match because of an anal stage. We want you to walk away wishing you could shoot it again for fun. Not to say its going to be all up close in your face hoser match. You will have plenty of that along with some shots that test accuracy. It will be well balanced, fair and fun. If you know me you know i like good food. We will have some of the best Range food you have ever had. No hot dogs and soy patties. Last year we had Pork Chop sandwichs, Potatoe Salad, Chips, Sara lee Desert and drink. All for 5.00 Cant guarantee the same menu but it gives you an idea of what we try to do. The Louisville Area has many thngs to do. There is a Casino within 15 minutes. We have the Louisville slugger museum, a new Firearms museum that I am told is worth a look. Numerous tours to Horse farms and Bourbon distilleries. Mammoth Cave National Park is also about 90 minutes south. The match is a cash payback with plaques match. Last year we gave back over 50% back to the shooters.
redmist10
Can't see it working for crossover guys shooting the IDPA Nationals. I'd have to try to leave Saturday night after shooting then get up and shoot Area 5? Darn, see you some other year.... x3 of us.
chuckbradley
Sorry to hear that but if we had kept it on the 30, 1,2 we would have lost more than 3 and more importantly we would have possibly lost some workers. Maybe you can come down and shoot the Kentucky State match. Its in the same place as Area 5 just in May.

Thomas Moore
i don't understand, i guess i look at shooting in a finacial way. i.e. idpa nationals = a possible trophy area 5 = a possible trophy + $money$ idpa nationals = $$$$$ entry fee area 5 = $$$ entry fee i don't see the logic. plus i'm classified master in idpa which puts me up against the big dogs. idpa needs to adopt a grand master class or call it a professional class if they don't want it sounding too much like uspsa. just my $0.
redmist10
Thanks for the application! For some reason I couldn't find it earlier. I guess I don't play for the money as much as the experience of shooting in the biggest annual match of the sport. Money is a poor motivator, for me anyway. Work is for money, shooting is for fun. prh
Last year the range surface was mostly gravel, and in some cases LARGE gravel. pah
chuckbradley
The kind of range surface that can break your ankle Didnt David step in a hole that was getting dug out from everybody stopping there? Was it raining and muddy also?
