Ultimo-Hombre
So I understand that STI and SVI mags are fundamentally interchangeable but there are some subtle differences. If a guy was considering picking up a new infinity 2011 would he be good to run his relatively new STI mags in it or would the infinity always long for OEM big dent svi mags? dapribek
The STI mags should run just as well as SV mags. Hope this helps.
pjb45
Nope I think there might be some issues. The geometries might be different in the location of the holes in the mags and their relationship to the mag release. Are you looking at a steel or plastic grip? Ultimo-Hombre
So that's one yes and one no.... Looking at the steel.
Maksim
I have had most sti mags run just fine in my svi, except 3 126mm mags. Mag catch is slightly off iirc. Sent from my SGH-T889 using Tapatalk
titandriver
None of my STI mags would fit in my SV steel grip. They would only insert about 3/5ths of the way into the grip before becoming stuck. Had nothing to do with the mag release. All of my SV mags - new and old - worked flawlessly! RangerTrace
I used to use STI mags for dry fire in my steel gripped Infinity and they worked fine for that application. Not sure about feeding, etc...
LINC
What SV COP said, the ones I used fit fine and would run about 80%. Get the sv mags if you want something reliable. I had grams followers, new springs, adjusted feed lips, polished, you name it and I tried it to get them to work. This was with the steel signature grip. SLM
My experience is that older STI mags work just fine in the SV steel grip, newer don't. I run a Grams built STI 170 with 100% reliability in my SV steel grip. Some newer ones won't go in the grip. The only to know for sure is try them. If you're getting a new SV, just get mags with it and be happy. MHO.
