Liebetrau88
Put pretty simply, I'm doing some info gathering on manufacturing aftermarket slides for the XD/XDM lines. My questions for you guys are: Would you buy one? If so, what options would you be looking for? How much would you pay for one?(slide only) These would be available in stainless steel at first. These wouldn't be cheap factory replacements per se, they would be simliar to a ZevTech slide for a glock. Higher end, better tolerances. Maybe in the future we would be looking at less expensive factory replacements. Also potentially looking into making a 6" model if we can get cooperation from a barrel manufacturer. Give me any input you can.
DRichardson
I would be interested. It would be nice if 5.25 and 4.5 models were introduced. Pre-done slide lightening would be cool too. Tighter slide to frame tolerances would definitely be a plus ( mine would be going on a 4.5 xdm open gun so the lighter the better). I have no idea what pricing would be for something like this I guess it would really depend on fit, finish, and overall quality.
Liebetrau88
Tighter tolerances will be a mandatory thing as they are necessary. Prices for comparable stripped slides are stating around $200-$250, so we are hoping to be around that price point.
Avezorak
The biggest problem I see is the lack of other parts needed I.E. extractor, striker, etc. Springfield doesnt seem to be willing to sell these parts in any great quantity and no one else makes them as far as I know... Liebetrau88
This is true, although you would be able to swap over the original parts. As well as that option, there are various sources of these parts. This is all stuff that will be figured out in the near future.

ummm
Yes -- a complete slide / barrel / mags so I could swap out for .22LR! Edited October 22, 2012 by ummm
shabodah
I'd be interested in a 6" slide and barrel for my XD 45 Tactical. I think that would be a lot of fun. Especially if Rich and Canyon Creek got involved with you.
bobert1
I do like to see more aftermarket parts being made. Sadly there ARE key parts not available except from Springfield. They have to install them too. Edited October 23, 2012 by bobert1

Mberry
I would love to be able to put a 40 cal slide on my 9mm frame. The ability to be able to switch from 40 for limited to 9 for 3-gun would make a good gun great.
Liebetrau88
Another reason for doing this. The current way to switch back and forth isn't the safest or most reliable as the rounds are completely different sizes. Also toying with the idea of a 10mm conversion. bobert1
Just out of curiousity what are these parts? Not at my desktop PC so I don't have my drawing. I do know that the extractor is an important part that's not available.

Now the 10mm part has my complete attention. Would love to see someone bring something out like that. Def interested in an aftermarket slide Sent from my DROID BIONIC using Tapatalk
Reshoot
Watching this thread with great interest myself. The only concern I have is the fact my striker would have to be installed in the other slide. This according to the firm that did my trigger job. And, of course as already mentioned, there will have to be an aftermarket extractor available.
ClaytonWelch
I have a 4.5" 9mm xdm and would love to have an option to buy a longer slide(barrel) for it in 9/40 without getting the 5.25. You could even make it longer than 5.25 if that's feasible to you.
Landeeno
Half the price of a new or used gun I think would be a good price point. If it gets close to the price of a new gun then I think a lot of ppl would just rather get a new gun. I'd be very interested in a new slide
WidowsSon683
If you can make it happen cap'n ill buy. I wouldnt mind havin one slide for limited and one for open.
DJCAREY
If you could do a 22lr conversion. I'd be interested. Sent from my SCH-R530U using Tapatalk
GMB
I like the idea of a 6in slide!!! I would buy a 5.25 slide for sure if I had other options for the slide cuts. I hate the huge hole in the top of the slide!!! What kind of time frame are you looking at???
Desmo412
I would be in for a 6" slide and barrel for my 4.5" gun. That would make for one interesting limited gun!
VTSEAL
Here is another vote for a .22LR trainer slide/mag setup. Absolutely would be interested in that..
turkishroy
I'd definitely buy a. 22 conversion slide.
DFinan
I would be interested in a .22 lr for my xdm 5.25 .40 along with a barrel and slide for 10mm. Is this project still being worked on looked into?
szhttm
I would love to have a spare slide that grants me the option to easily install a small red dot. Like the new M&Ps that have a plate that can be removed to install the optics. Good Luck And Be Safe!!!
