Match Hotel for Handgun Nationals

I called today because it wouldn't let me reserve the room for the 8 days I needed. She said it originally looked like they were full on the 13th but it was a glitch. She said they have rooms available. I'll be there. The only hitch during the Multigun were the restaraunts didn't open till 7 which made it a bit of a push to get to the range in time. I'm hoping they worked something out with the hotel. Otherwise I'll be eating a lot of Burger King breakfasts.

The Suncoast has an all night restaurant that serves breakfast, almost identical layout to the Orleans since owned by same company, 10 min from range with lots of area restaurants near by with out the high cost of the Strip.

It only allows a 7 night booking with the USPSA code. I guess we all have to call them if we are there for both matches.

I just searched on this and we had the same problem 2 years ago at the Orleans. Back then I just booked the 7 days and then when the electronic receipt arrived I requested the additional days at the same rate.

There is close to 200 places to eat between Suncoast and DSRPC. I have always liked Suncoast, except for the diner. Your call though. Bunches of local bar and grill type places all around that area that do 24 hr breakfast that for the most part you can't go wrong with. Another place to stay in the same area would be Silverton. They have more choices for food but I am clueless as to the price of rooms there compared to suncoast. With a little research, you might be able to find several smaller Hotels on LV blvd. located between Suncoast, about as far south as you want to go, and Silverton, which is just before center strip and the bigger resort locations starting with Mandalay and Luxor.

Almost anywhere you stay in Vegas will be close in transit time out to DSRPC. Unless you get lost, cross town travel is usually fairly quick. The 15 gets messy sometimes but really no reason to get on the 15 unless you are leaving or entering town. Even staying somewhere like Fiesta in Henderson would only add 10-15 minutes travel time to the range. Cannery on Boulder hwy would add maybe 20-25 min. Vegas is small and surface streets can get you nearly everywhere you may need to go.

My only concern reading the reviews of Suncoast is the smoked out place. =) I hate the smell of smoke, and last year had a tough time at the Riviera... although the remodeled rooms were pretty nice.

The Silverton seems quite nice. How far is that to the range?

If you're worried about air or room quality, compared to Riviera or the Orleans this place is much higher end.

Not necessarily just the room, but the overall hotel/casino. I think I am leaning towards the Silverton... $59 rates and seems great... or just go the La Quinta or other route.

Silverton is 'far' compared with the SunCoast ... far is a relative term .. is all highway. Silverton is in the corner of 160 with the I-15, probably about 20 minutes drive to the range.

Haven't been at the SunCoast for a while but they changed the management company recently, they may have done a good clean up already. I may stop by and report back.

I stayed at the Silverton last year and I liked it. About 20 mins to the range. Room was nice, plain, but nice and clean. Was easy to get in and out of the hotel if you park in the rear where most of the employees parked. Exercise room was decent and free internet in Charbucks in the lobby. Best of all, it is attached to Bass Pro :D

I would have stayed there again this year but will try the match hotel instead. Didn't care for the Riviera. If the South Pointe had great rates, I would stay there.

FYI:

I just booked a room with 2 beds for myself and another shooter at the Silverton.

I did it through Kayak/vegas.com and used the vegas.com facebook page promocode sign up for an extra 50 bucks off.

Total for Saturday through Wed was $234.67. Not bad at all splitting it with other folks.
