Texas Multigun Championship

Recommended Posts

For the rest of the unfortunate shooters that were not at the event, and for some that may not know that were at the event. My friend Sheldon C was smart enough that starting last year to ask for help. Sheldon's real skill was in the orchestration of finding who was good at what and creating an environment that that could happen.

Kyle & Kevin were both right hand men for Sheldon, + several others that built on ideas and plans.

I am 100 miles South of the event and they never asked me to waist my time with a silly trip, I only had to build a few things and bring them up the week before the RO event. All the real work was completed before I arrived on the 6th

Most of the Sand Bag bunkers you saw at the match was stacked and moved for placement at lest twice some times three times. Non of the "Thats close enough" if it made the stage better to move the bunker 3 feet or 10 feet it was moved.

& Man am I glad we did not have to throw a base ball grenade

And now to finish shoveling the sand and dust out of my camper

My first major match and I had a blast! Maybe I can get an RO slot next year.

Thanks again, Sheldon Carruth for loaning me your rifle on Friday after I jammed mine but good!

And thanks LaRue Tactical for removing the stuck cartridge and getting my non-LaRue upper back before 5 PM on Friday.

Btw, don't shoot a popper with a slug on stage 4......

:(

That sucks dude, hate to hear it, you had a good run going otherwise.

I really enjoyed meeting you and the rest of squad 14, I am going to try to make the match next year if I can, I had a great time.

Great match, I enjoyed shooting and RO'n (Stage 1). The competitors were great, and it was good to meet so many people. I'm really looking forward to next year!!

This was the first major 3 gun match that I have shot and the first major match that I have worked. I was asked by Sheldon to be the Range Medic and was excited for the opportunity to work the match. When I emailed my list of safety requirements to him he said no problem we will get you what you need.

In the two weekends that I shot, RO'd and worked as the medic we had 2 minor injuries from the grenade launcher, one cut leg on a tent stake a few dusty eyeballs that had to be flushed out and a lot of minor thumb and hand cuts from shotgun loading gates and such.

I am very happy that there was not anything more serious than that. Sheldon told me that he tried to make the stages as safe as possible and challenging for the shooters and it showed. The shooters had fun and no one had to be taken away by ambulance.

Sheldon, Kyle, Kevin, John, Marcie and the rest of the RO staff were great to work with and professional. I will judge all the future matches that I work off of this one. This is the standard. I can't wait for next years match. Thanks to all the shooters and sponsers and especially Mark Larue, Paul Payne and the rest of the crew at Larue Tactical for the support.

Is there more info for this club somewhere? I'm still cleaning the dust out of my gear from LaRue but I'm ready to go play again.

I cleaned my Mossberg 930 last night. Rifle tonight.

Round count is about 33 bird shot, 75 rifle and 50 pistol. Bring more, though.

Here is my video. I blew the 2 shotgun stages & shot stage 11 at 7:45 Saturday AM. The dust and shadows obscured the targets. Very frustrating, but I got the last one just before the 90sec limit.

Thanks to Sheldon and all of his staff. That was a well run match with challenging stages. I cannot wait til next year!

This was my first real match. And what a match it was! Great stages and props, smooth running by the ROs and a great bunch of guys on Squad #13.

I had a few non-shooting family members and friends actually make it out to the range for at least one day. Every single one of them was impressed with the food, operation and courtesy of so many "shooting" people.

A co-worker also made it out on Friday as a spectator. He was so stoked that he went home, shook the dust off and doubled up on chores so he could return all day on Saturday. Unknown to me he had been saving up for months to buy an LMT 308MWS. Overnight he changed his mind and placed an OBR order on Saturday.

Thank you to all the event staff, range staff, ROs and shooters for putting on such a great event. You all made a lasting, positive impression both in and outside the shooting community.

It's not spectacular by any means, but here's my match video. Easily the best run match I've been to. Stages looked straight forward at first glance, but they were deceptive with some tough shots. I'll be back as long as I'm able.
