  1. Questions and Commentary from and Assistant Match Director: Sometimes it is nice to hear the facts of what was going on behind the scenes... 1. Jesse - ProAm: Great idea... However, we pride ourselves on the mix of shooters, that's why we cranked up the number of stages, ramped up the speed and honed the reset. (You probably noticed these things.) I put the match book together for the ProAm, but couldn't tell the following. Did the Pro's and Am's shoot the same "physical" stages? (Don't think so) We are hampered by physical space at Best of the West. As great as the facility is, that is our limitation! We may be able to hit 500, but it will stretch the formula. 2. Jessie - Prize Table: Careful Here Please! As the guy in charge of this. (Who could have done a better job BTW!) Not all sponsors "bite the hook" for 3GN. Don't get me wrong, there were Gold Sponsors who came in BIG, but we did not get the sponsorship of other matches. Thank God for LaRue Tactical! Mark and Team came through in a large way. Thanks to ALL of our sponsors for coming through for our shooters! 3. ALL: 3GN Camera Crew and Schedule - First, we were on time OR ahead of the printed schedule. Overall, we never got behind the printed schedule. Second, some individual stages did get behind, but it was because they were true MultiFun stages! Resetting three guns (Great job on Stages 6 & 11 crew!) is a tall order and out team did a phenomenal job! The RO's on these stages sucked it up and made things happen. Finally, the direction I, along with other "red hats," gave to RO's who were hosting the 3GN crew was simply this: "Be professional and accommodating. Push the shooters to be efficient with time and move them through at a snappy pace." We knew the cameras were slowing squads down a bit, but every stage caught up in exactly one cycle following their experience with 3GN. We appreciate everything 3GN is doing for the sport and are willing to make a very small sacrifice to accommodate them. 4. ALL: Schedule - Breaks between shooting are purposeful. It has been mentioned before that shooters appreciate time to prepare and see the squad before them attack the stage. This reduces reset, walk through, confusion, etc. Sheldon is a master at stage design and none of this was an accident or "smoke and mirrors." So many wanted stage layouts weeks before the match, but they were being honed up to one week before. Processes and potential stage components are vetted months before at monthly matches. I can't imaging a more "bullet proof" set of stages to accommodate 400+ shooters. 5. Things we can't control/change: Wind, Weather, Non-Compromised Safety, Range Layout, Parking, Etc. 6. Things you can count on: FUN! WWII Division (Obviously), A Theme, An attitude that drives us toward perfection, Innovation (Real-time scores.. Come on?), Accommodation (Welcome to Texas!), VALUE (The only national match that provides food/drinks for a minimum of two meals a day), A Professional Crew, A solid prize table... (You can fill in the rest!) Cheers, Kyle
  2. Hey Brian! Glad you guys made it down, it was good to see you. BTW - Doughnuts were all MARK LARUE! I think he loves to watch folks eat, shoot and make merry! Cheers, Kyle
  3. Real-Time Online Scoring is Up! (Refresh your browser to update results) Overall: http://www.texasmultigun.com/txmgscoring/standings Individual: http://www.texasmultigun.com/txmgscoring/scores ENJOY! Thanks to Dave Gardner and team for the first real-time scoring updates at a national outlaw 3Gun match!
  4. Trey, Polishing the spring with steel wool and then add Lucas Oil Brand Engine Reassembly Lube (Green Slime) has eliminated all of the spring noise I can detect. Cheers, Kyle
  5. Kevin, It works... I have done it with my XTR. Good to see you this weekend. Kyle
  6. Where in Stephenville is Michael Schumaker's shop located? I'll be heading there next weekend for the TacPro 3-Gun match and would like to stop by... He is just west of town on Hwy 377, about 3 miles out. His shop is in Star Arms Gun Shop. Both are nice places to visit and buy! Schumaker is usually not in on Saturdays unless you make an appointment. I would call or email if you are coming in on Friday. Cheers, Kyle
  7. Thanks all! @ Chills - It's not a Benelli or SLP, that's for sure. The manufacturing is not top quality, but I do agree with Dan and Blade, it could have lots of potential. @ Blade - This one had a 10 round mag, but I bet someone will begin creating extensions or longer mags if the gun finds its way into the world of 3Gun. I would still like to see a report on reliability. Cheers, Kyle
  8. Check it out! New at my local gun shop. It is labeled an "Akdal MKA 1919." This semiauto 12ga has a 10 round mag, it has removable chokes and it is super light. Looks very interesting!
  9. I call "Not It" helping DocMcG unload that from the truck. You were the first on the list of Strong Backs and even Stronger Minds!!! DocMcG!
  10. Hmmm... I'll give it a go! 1. ANYONE who can't be kind, friendly and courteous! (RO's, MD's, Other Shooters, Spectators, etc.) 2. Adjustment of targets between shooters or squads 3. Being swept 4. The constant complainer or The loud mouth, lazy SOB that watches everyone else set-up, tear-down, tape, reset, etc.... (Ya, that guy!) 5. Putting too much pressure on myself and forgetting to have fun! (Yep, I am my own problem sometimes!) Cheers, Kyle - Great thread Jesse. Should be required reading for all aspiring MD's.
  11. Please note that we are reviewing the "Heavy, Heavy Tac, Heavy Metal," etc. rules and classifications for 2012. We have received quite a bit of feedback and are looking at what shooters want with regard to classifications. Cheers, Kyle Asst Match Director

  16. Lots of people are asking: 1. What about the rain? We have had a 40% chance all week and no rain to this point. The property drains VERY well and can take lots of rain. I will keep updates coming. 2. We have had a few drop and a few add, so their are a few spots left.

  18. West, Not at the moment, however, I want to move up to a spring and fall match. It would be nice to have two every year, plus the place we shoot is very rugged and offers some really cool stage design opportunities. Thanks for the interest! Kyle

  21. If you plan to shoot lots of matches and want to stick in a non-magnified class, be sure to see if there are differences in the classes you will be placed in. Some matches group iron shooters and 1x red dots in the same class while others separate them. This happened to me when I first started shooting - I sank money into a variable optic and offset red dot without thinking about the fact that it would throw me into open class for most matches. Irons: Troy Red Dot: I like the small dots like the Burris FastFire II or similar models made by C-More, Doctor, Leupold, etc. Good luck! Cheers, Kyle
  22. Match Video Going Up! Slowly! Texas MultiGun on YouTube Cheers, Kyle
