  1. I run and AAC on my AR style rifles and really like it. Their brake seems to work pretty nice when not running with the can. This can will also fit on the 223 brake. But if you have both 223 and 308 cans you need to be careful because the 223 will also fit on the 308 brake. I run a Thunder Beast 30BA on my AE 308 bolt. Very accurate combo. I have never shoot the gun without it so i don't know the impact difference with it on compared to off. With the can and factory match ammo it will shoot one hole groups. Lots of suggestions. I am sure you will be happy with what ever you buy.
  2. yes you can load 9mm using a .40 plate but i don't think you can go the other way. I have been loading 9mm on a .40 plate for a long time. You will need the proper buttons. Call BE and tell what you want to do. He will have your order figured out faster than you can get your CC out of your pocket.
  3. Great question. i have the same problem on a 1050 only using 308. Do you know if the Lee is a small base die? As far as 223 reg Dillon has been great. I wished i had bought the Dillon 308. I also like Dillon because the decapping pins are cheap compared to other brands. i tend to break a few when just resizing on the progressive due to working at a faster pace.
  4. The range might be able to accept shipments. However, if Sheldon doesn't already have something arranged for out to towners shipping ammo send me a PM and i will forward my Commercial Office address for you to ship too. I will be an RO so i will be around. If tthere is a shipping address already arranged I would prefer you use that. Well, its kindof late, but there is no prearranged address to ship ammo. One possibility is to ship to your hotel. Usually they will accept packages for guests, but call first. The range will be closed, or at least, no one will be at the office to guarantee delivery. Lee Did we get the ammo thing worked out? If not and we need a central ship location I don’t mind helping out. I have people at my office to accept from 8-5 m-f for any delivery or signatures. All i ask is make sure its here on Thurs or before. I can bring it all to the range Fri. Just PM if you need it.
  5. Carina did you find a room? Cedar Park has some motels one being a Holiday Express on 1431just west of the intersection fo 1431 and Parmer. There is a new motel 6 there too. i don't think its much futher than GT if any futher. Its about a 20-25 minute drive to the range.

  7. I have never been around a Noveske so I cannot comment or compare. I do have some experience with the LaRue Stealth uppers. You didn’t say if you were looking at uppers or OBRs. My son shoots a LaRue 18 inch Stealth upper with a Benny Hill comp. Very flat shooting and accurate with anything he runs through it. I have a 16 inch Stealth upper. I had a Surefire comp and now a AAC comp for a suppressor. My gun does not shoot as flat but I like the size. My gun likes heavier bullets. We have never had an issue with either upper. We do not clean them much and probably run them drier than we should. We have shot almost 3K Wolf through them and no issues. Wolf 55 and 63 grain out to 500 at matches has not been an issue in the past. I run a Laure lower. The fit is much tighter than any other AR lower we have. Don’t know that it helps anything but it is nice just because I like it. I don’t know much, I hope I helped some.
  8. it would be nice to see the results for each of the stages that were thrown out for those that shot them.
  9. Something else to think about it, even tuned you may still have an issue. I have dealt with both DP and STI on repairs. Here is my story. I purchased a STI Grandmaster from DP. The lead time for the enhancement was a few months. I took the gun to shoot in the mean time. It only ran a few matches before wouldn’t run without a jam and that was my second stage at Space City Challenge. I took it to STI and they “fixed” it. I’m local so I got to go to STI and test fire and it ran fine. I ran a match or two before it went to DP for the enhancement. Got the gun back from DP and it ran great. Never jammed but the brass was hitting my C-More mount. After a few thousand rounds the bottom of the aluminum mount looked like fish scales. I called and talked with Dave and without hesitation he said bring back. He found the breech face had something wrong. He sent the slide back to STI for repair. When the slide returned Dave invited me up to test fire. It was better but some brass was still hitting but no jams during the test firing. Dave was pissed to put it nice and very embarrassed that he asked me to come up there, he expected more from STI. Gun was repaired, new mount installed all at no charge. It has run perfect ever since. My take away from this is that STI will take care of you no doubt, they are a great company. YOU may have to deal with them a couple of times. DP will take it and won’t give it back until its right with very few questions asked. Think about it this way. STI doesn’t build these guns to a tuned level, the DP enhancement package is for that. If you have a problem you will most likely only receive the level of service that is usually sent out the door. So I would predict DP will repair anything to a higher standard and only once. We have 2 DP tuned Edges and 2 DP tuned Grand Masters. We have not had any other issues. I couldn’t have asked for more from DP with my purchases or rapair.
  10. POF uses a threaded collar jam nut that is nice. not sure if is their part or whos. It tightens down and the collar covers extra threads that are usually visible. Here is a pic from their website. Not suggesting this comp just the collar. It is hard to tell in this pic but it looks like the collar is backwards from the way it shouild install.
  11. Here is a before pic. Been there, done that. Re Cutting the breach face is what finally fixed mine. Mu gun is a Dawson tuned gun. Dave sent it back to STI to re cut the breach face and they replace my C More mount. It runs great now. Doesn't matter if i'm shooting factory or hot major it ejects even mixed brass. Before it was fixed the hotter the load the more it stove piped and everything mentioned here did affect the failure rate. Somewhere on BE or a link on BE to some pics of the different breach faces so you can visually check to see what you have.
  12. Definitely a match to get you out of your comfort zone. It is very difficult to take the game out of the player. I know my determination to knock down the 250 yard weak hand rifle targets cost me from placing better than many others with short times and less hits on stag 3. That got me to thinking. How about if a shooter skips any paper target or leaves steal standing its an automatic par time. That would force everyone to work a little harder at knocking those 250 yard weak hand targets down.
  13. I built/modified (whatever) a very light AR. I started with 5.56 Bushmaster flat top with a 16” pencil barrel w/ collapsible stock that I put a Miculek comp, inexpensive Hogue grip and hand guard and a LaRue gas block to get rid of the front site and a Timney trigger I had laying around. This is a very light weight setup the I would recommend to anyone wanting a light gun. If you selected the right optic like a dot of some sort to keep it light I think it would be tough to beat. I put a 2x7 with solid steel rings on it and it is still very light compared to most AR setups. I think in stock form the gun is right at 6lb and I don’t believe my mods made any significant weight change up or down, until a mounted the optic. I don’t notice any more recoil that my other ARs but recoil was not a primary concern when i put this together. The gun is very accurate. 300 Yards 3 gun is not a problem. I didn’t answer all your questions. I hope this helps out some. Good luck.
  14. Same thing not long ago for me. I ended up with a Weaver Classic Extreme 1.5x4.5 x 30mm in a Larue mount. It has a nice small red dot you can turn on and off. The dot was my deciding factor. I haven't shot it much but I like it so far. Edited to add- I type to slow and that Vortex looks pretty nice.
  15. You hit a Double Alpha in that post. I don't even say much any more. However part of that is also due the fact that he ought be giving me advice now
  16. My son shoots a Bedell 9mm shorty. He has shot 1000's of Zero 125 jhp and MG 121 with out a problem. I don't think i have seen that gun hiccup once with either bullet that wasn't shooter error. HS6 behind them all except at Area 4 his load was with Silhouette. His gun shoots the 121s very accurate with the HS6.
  17. I have a GM. I talked with Benny about buying a custom from him before I bought it. I wanted the custom but bought the GM due to timing. Wish i would have waited for the custom. Don’t get me wrong the GM is nice gun and its capable of shooting better than I can shoot it. However I still wished a few things were different. Then take the money into account. I have darn near as much in my GM with DP Hyper Drive pin, DP mag well, DP tool less main spring rod, mag release, slide racker plus the cut, aftec, DP thumb rest plus drilling, bigger dot and DP enhancement vs a new Benny gun just the way I would want it. I did get a free shirt that i can't wear with the GM.
  18. Trophy wall, Gun Show, its all Good!
  19. Here is a pic heading back to the motel. A 7up semi came blasting through making about a 4 foot wake. I guess he was late. No way i could keep up. We just putted through it all all with no problems. Saw many stalled cars and trucks.
