Awesome match is all I can say. Tim, Brad, Bill, and rest of RO's and staff did an outstanding job. Nice prize table too...wish I could have got a gun or frame, but it gives me something to look forward to. Excellence at it's finest.

Great Match,

Great RO's,

Great Squad (squad 12),

Tim when you get a chance can you post the combined overalls and stages?

All scores are posted on the USPSA website under majors match results. Thanks for shooting the match. All the great folks that came to shoot the match made all the hard work worth it. Thanks again.

Tim, I think he means the Unofficial combined scores just for fun.

Great match guys and gals! Very Challenging yet not impossible and very fun! Take a rest and relax for a while.

I also thought the match was great from the Stages to the RO's, and the weather was outstanding, I was lucky enough to be in squad 11, and had the honor to watch and meet some of the best shooters in USPSA but also just damn good people with great sense of humor and willingness to help.

I would also like to note and thank a shooter named John Hill who shot Single Stack, he was amazing to watch and kind enough to give me some advice and guidance. I am kinda new to the whole USPSA match stuff and did not understand why he and the other fine shooters in single stack did not get recognized for their achievements, he won the Single stack div. and it was a close battle between him and the other M shooter Corey Estill, after someone explained that if you do not have 10 in a div. its not recognized, I guess it is what it is... if you know that stuff going in to a match.

But I still have difficulty understanding as a reasonable adult why some sort of credit or accolades are not given during awards to those competitors who incur all the expenses of entry travel etc. for what they achieved in their division,

The way I have always seen things, as a competitor in any sport, it only takes two to have a competition, a winner and a loser, winner takes all even if its the glory but it should be recognized.

I can understand that possibly no trip to the prize table for 1st if the 10 mark is not met, but not even a plaque?

Do not take this as a bash on the TN Open it was OUTSTANDING! and rules are rules I guess, but this to me is just about what makes sense,

Last but not least thanks to Robert and Wanda for the DVD of pics that they made for everyone in the squad as a gift...outfreak'n standing!

The award policy was right there on the front page of the TN Section Championship for everyone to read. 10 is not an unreasonable amount for recognition IMO. I for one, lobbied very hard on many different forums to get over the 10 in SS so it could be recognized. Unfortunately we didn't get there. Also, anyone is free to change divisions right until the last second if this is/was important to them. Most folks shoot to shoot, and if an award or a prize is won, all the better. But that is not why most of us shoot. John would have been more than welcome to join the other 6 GM shooters in Limited if he so chose.

So, I guess you are suggesting that if two enter we should give an award to the winner? If not what number is more appropriate? 5??? 8??? Maybe you are suggesting not a plaque or a trip to the prize table, but Just a mention at the ceremony? If that is the case, then I agree with you and if I had thought of it I would have announced John's name as SS winner. But to say that I was on system overload at the time, would be the understatement of the year.

We couldn't tell! Seriously, I know how hard you, Brad, and the rest of the crew worked just for the three days we were there. Given that you'd already spent a couple of weekends building at the range and God only knows how many hours online and on the phone getting all the details straight, I'm impressed you were still standing Sunday afternoon, much less functioning and smiling. Great job all around. I enjoyed working the event and look forward to next year!

this is the problem with writing when you are not gifted at it. you can not hear the passion in my words nor the smile on my face. I tried to make it clear in my post :

and yes I was suggesting anything as
winner takes all even if its the glory but it should be recognized
Do not take this as a bash on the TN Open it was OUTSTANDING! and rules are rules I guess, but this to me is just about what makes sense,

Look, I have ran events of a different nature but no less chaotic, I think this was a great event and the hosts as well as the RO's , OUTSTANDING! and although I have only been shooting 18 months and have only been to 6 events this one was one of the best (but overall I cannot say I have been disappointed by any of them  ) but the weather and speed of the event along with the stage design make this one a top contender in my books.

At the end of the day its about the competition, how much faster did I need to go to win, how much straighter will the other competitor be, can I stay ahead of the pack or can I catch up? sure some come to shoot and have fun doing it but most are there to see how the fair against their peers, and although you can walk away knowing you won even if its not stated, its not quite the same as battling it out and when the smoke clears everyone knows you are the victor.

If the is how the USPSA does it, so be it. I will still play the game, I am sure it was not meant not to be mentioned, please do not take it that way. But since it was not and I did not understand how it all worked, I wanted to mention it on a public forum to bring out the competition I was watching between two warriors for 1st single stack.

For the record my name is Gerwin, I do not shoot single stack...yet, but after watching these two and watching the way they have to shoot, move and load and the thought to break down a stage to get those times...impressive. One day after I figure how to think and shoot with 19 bullets I will give this a try. To be honest I am watching for one of those 40 cal Trojans to pop up in the classifieds as we speak ;)

Again hats of to everyone and hopefully I will be welcomed back

Still Learning,

Gerwin

You are and will always be welcomed back. I'm a big boy wearing big boy pants. ;)

FWIW, there is not one way that folks run USPSA matches. Some do trophy only. Some do trophy with something other than the 3, 5, 7 rule. Some do trophy with a random drawing for the prize table, some do cash payback only etc........The list of different methods are long, and none make everyone happy. But this is how TN has done since I have been in the sport and I think it is fair, but I do wish I would have announced the SS winner.

I just want to thank everyone who came and shot the match. Thank you all for coming. I have been in the sport long enough now that a big part of what I look forward to is seeing all my friends that I don't get to see other than at big matches. What a great sport with great people. Plus, I never seem to fail at making new friends at every match I go to as well.

To all of the RO's that helped I can't thank you enough. Really. I have heard nothing but good comments about how nice, and professional you all were.

A huge thanks to Lynn Jones and Bill Grewe for building the most beautiful stage (and most challenging) of the match, Stage 1. You both helped in more ways than I can count.

Another huge thanks to my other partners in crime Brad Griffin and Elizabeth Peeler. What incredible jobs you both did! Thanks for making me look like I knew what the heck I was doing.

And lastly but far from least, thanks to all the members at NTPS for coming out to help build stages, design stages etc.... There were many weekends and weekday evenings we were there putting screws in walls until we couldn't see from lack of sunlight.

Great post.

This was my first time to TN State, but with even a small amount of luck it won't be the last. It was a picture-postcard range with great stages, RO'd by an awesome staff. I can't think of anything else I'd wish for. Good show, folks!

When Singlestack gets a chance to process it, he's going to have some awesome video showing what your Jungle Run (stage 10) was like. He took a slow walk through with his HD cam when it was all done, and hopefully will show just how naturally breathtaking it was. It was a spot fit for a family picnic, that had been upgraded to a USPSA stage. Niiiiiiiiice...

I was fortunate enough to shoot with Hopalong and I learned the cure for whatever makes him hop......the buzzer!! I told him I don't know if I just never paid that much attention or if he's become a much better shooter but I was very impressed with his performance. He shot solid throughout the match and it ended up good enough for HOA Production. Awesome job Sam and I enjoyed shooting with you.

Big thanks to the TN crew for putting on another great match. It's probably not the turnout they would have hoped for but I hope the secret stays secret. It's always been a great match and one of my favorite of the year. More info in my match report as well as more video can be found HERE. <------Shameless website plug.
