  1. spring in my 4 year old "manny holster" broke, anyone have any ideas on where I can find replacement?
  2. I have a 6" 2011, 5" BCG Pro and a 5" Sight Tracker. Got the sight tracker because of same reason you are thinking now, it all makes sense, however other than the fact its cool looking and I paid allot for it, I see no difference in seeing sights or splits times. That being said I only been playing this game for about 5 years and I ain't a GM...yet. Hate to burst bubbles but if I knew then what "I" know now, ida saved the dollars. And yes I continue to shoot the sight tracker (1.5 years now) because its the only gun of the three I bought new, and therefore its sorta my gun, waste of money or not ;-), its that pretty girlfriend that don't really do anything better than the ugly ones.
  3. So I bought my USA holster off of Manny at a class I took from him almost exactly 2 years from this writing. At the time I was using the Ghost holster and prior to that I had a Cr speed holster. Both the prior holsters are fine holsters but seem to have issues I did not care for, (I was not a fan of the extended piece on the CR poking my thigh at times and just did not have that butter slick feel on draw, the ghost had that butter slick feel and no thigh jab but seemed floppy and always had that "its gonna fall out thought in back of my head" ) So I see this holster that Id never seen before on Manny and I immediately was intrigued, unlike some I am a fan of the industrial, heavy duty look.. so intrigued that I offered to buy it after class, just from the looky look I was getting I thought this might be just the holster I'd been searching for. I was not disappointed! It has the buttery slick feel like nothing else, the magnetic rollers not only give you that secure feeling but at least for me have a sensation of the gun gliding out the holster, also as a accessory you can get the hip pad, honestly the thing should just come with it, even if price is more, as it is a MUST have in my opinion, it keeps holster gun alignment secure, cannot imagine not having it! So two years later I write this as a testament to the durability, not a issue at all, still fast and secure. I have run across comments about magnet rollers marring finish on underpart of frame, yeah it will a bit, IMO I don't give a ____, I ain't shooting to look pretty anyway, the gun and the holster and the mags and glasses etc are all tools to try and get the job done best I can! So now I wonder.....was it the 400 I spent on the class with Manny or the 200 I pd for the holster that got me from B to M ??
  4. so let me ask this question, my holster was also out, so I adjusted to conform, during adjusting I noticed I have a bit of "play" on the horizontal plane. Do you think the checker would give benefit of applying slight inward pressure to gun? or how it happens to be sitting at time of test? I ask because I got it eyeballed at the 2" to grip and its right there but if a bit of push is done on the grip I got it easy.
  5. anyone have any idea why we have two CED chronos set up same distance same lighting and would get a 100 fps diff in results? besides one is broke.... I guess I need to find a third to determine which one of these is telling the truth?
  6. So what did I learn today: 1) having 24 hours to grasp this info and do dry fire for 20 min the night before does not make you delete previous retard turn style. 2) thinking about it on live fire to much does not help, it actually made me slower...it did not come natural, to much thinking about feet, head, gun to body.....lol 3) if you shoot fast and straight you can get your way through a decent el pres even with my 1.59 tard turn. The part I like is knowing that I have about .40 sec that I can get rid of and that would have given me a 4.8 sec time! And that it's within my grasp with lots of practice ahead to perfect this basic thing that somehow I decided at some point was not worth my time. So fellow spin handicapped friends there is hope on the horizon :-)
  7. Ok so i'm gonna strive for 1 sec and know that 1.25 is in the game.....
  8. So the avg times I've been laying down have been about 1.45, now understand this is having never thought about reading any articles on this matter so I figured I was pretty good...then I decide to use this awesome resource to read about how quick el pres is being done, as a classifier stage is coming up soon. WOW , I read the threads, I watch the videos and then I go dryfire and then the range to shoot, excited about this whole turn draw thing as its been written here that 1.25 should be easy and sub 1 sec even possible. In dry fire I was getting to what I thought was 1 sec easy but back at live fire I see I'm still 1.4's but after some dedication and about 200 rds I am seeing its possible, with 1.3's being my new avg, 1.2's rarely and one time I hit a 1.08 and I thought for sure I missed the target (I did not, but I think it was luck), So now the reason I have put all this to paper, for those of you who are making this turn and draw, fire, HIT! what really is the avg time cold run? is 1.3's respectable or should any self respectred shooter be at 1 sec? Bio: A class limited, 4 years in the sport
  9. Been a fan of the Georgia State match for the last 3 years, half day format is a winner in my mind, more matches should consider when possible, AND its one of only 3 matches I buy the shirt and by far its the BEST shirt of those 3. This year the shirt is even nicer, Have I mentioned how much I like the shirt?
  10. I also had a port, it was a God send over being stuck everyday in the arm, but man it was the first thing I wanted out! I kept it for a token and then my dog found it one day lets say it would not make a pretty pic.
  11. Ive been in remission for 19 years, only been shooting for 4, but I can relate to the chemo /surgery etc and doing other sports at the time, I was warned not to get to much sun, not to be around lots of other people (colds etc) and get rest during treatments. The best thing I did was do what I wanted and stay in the game / sports I could and keep my mind off the other issues at hand. I can tell you I shoot ok today but when cold weather roles in my finger tips get numb and tingle ever since the chemo., Other shooters always raz me about having those hand warmers and jackets on At 45- 50 deg. My advice is carry on , have fun, if we suck we suck, but I'd rather suck shooting with buddies, then hanging over my toilet. Or focusing on all the crap I have to go through in the coming weeks. The one thing I took away from my life's speed bump, is its short, have some fun. (I think we are all mature enough to know about the safe part;-)
  12. Ok, Why? oops, a bit late actually Cha Lees 1st paragraph was my thinking, but I can't say I thought much past that in regards to 2nd paragraph
  13. i'll bite, Full, partial, far
  14. May 2009, my adopted Alabama shooting family talked me into going to my first USPSA match after just starting the sport unclassified, I'm a Mississippian and a proud one to know what a fine match you guys do for the sport right here in my own state. Congrats to the staff for all the fine work and hats off to the sponsors for their generosity at the prize table. On a side note, that first year in 2009 I started, seems like I was able to sign up just a few weeks before the match and get in....my how times have changed.....
  15. I think maybe its a reload issue first, not gun? The gun functions perfect and it seems to shoot straight but I notice when I go to patch holes in target at about 20 yds they are not perfect little round 9mm holes :-( Guidance appreciated.
  16. Have not been to a match I did not like, but this one has to be one of my favorites. Pros: Location (both distance from house and facilities), stages were awesome, Weather, My squad 14, the Areas dining facilities, Hotel, of course the match staff! Cons: I had constipation of the brain most of the time and shot as such
  17. Yeah as I said sometimes a Flaw in Machining is the issue IMO Update now is about 700 rd and I still have the fo in the new Dawson
  18. perfect advice Its already deactivated, I was stressing that I saw/ heard the uspsa single stack was going to require working grip safety... It did not use to be an issue but after a few years shooting limited, its a big deal for me now! It appears by studying my own grip, I manage to put upward web pressure on tang of grip safety consistently.
  19. I thought it was not legal to pin the 1911 single stack? and would the JB weld or any other build up constitute any mods that were not uspsa leagal? Thanks Ger
  20. So as the title says, I have a problem gripping the gun to high, and do not disengage the grip safety consistently. I shoot limited now with pinned safety , so no big deal, but on the 1911 it seems to be a big problem for me now. I have extended grip safeties, but they still do not seem to work for my hand. Is there a fix or am I destined to have to go against what I learned from gripping the gun high? Thoughts appreciated
  21. So I next day air a Dawson FO front sight, got it in and have shot 300 rds and I still have a FO! Give me another 100 rds and I'm telling you I had a out of spec or something Lightning Rod FO, I am not slamming the product as I have one on another gun that works PERFECT, (thats one reason, I did not believe it was operator error), but the other could not keep one in to save its.... Anyways new FO front and life is good. Thanks to all for the tips, I hope they will help others with issues as they have given me ideas, but in the end never discount you could just get a lemon
  22. Well if a picture aint worth a 1000words! So I never score to break off the end.... I will try that And I have been letting blue portion of flame get damn close to fiber if not touching it, so this is great! now I have a couple things to make sure I do and see if its the fix. Last but not least I think I am sold on getting a Dawson front sight I also have more silicone than most as I do some aquarium work, so thats gonna be third on list of things to try, Now you folks are gonna crack up on what I have been doing these last few weeks.... I have 3 posts on my front sight, so I got three little fibers, one for each of them....hell I figure if one goes I got 2 more it dont look right but so far its worked and I kinda dig the dull red, not soooo bright appearance. Hey at this point necessity was the mother of invention
