  1. Found the same thing with mine. 75yd hits are a 3" group offhand. Learn where it hits from 5 to 100 and you should be good. But to remember to test at all ranges with the slugs you're going to use as it changes POI drastically.

    Glock Gen.4

Picked up a Gen 4 G17 this weekend. I currently shoot a Gen 3 34 in production and have a Gen 3 17 setup almost identical for backup. I thought some of you might appreciate a "gamer's" point of view. First I really like the grip without any additional back straps but I will says it's not near as grippy as the RTF2 was. I run Tru-Grip on all my other Glocks so I'm a little biased here. Also the finger grooves were shrunk to where they are similar to my Gen 3s with Tru-Grip. I'm thinking these with Tru-Grip might feel almost like a slick front. The other ergo quirk is they did away with the front "notch" in grip, which I index off of for reloads plus now more of the magwell is shrouded due to this as well. I'm almost certain this would be slower but won't know till I play with it some more. Also of note the hole in the back is both flatter and has two raised notches so current plugs won't fit. Last of all the mag release is awesome... this is the one trait I REALLY wish my Gen 3 had, no unexpected mag ejections with table starts The Slide, barrel, etc all look the same except for that monstrosity of a recoil system. I kept hearing horror stories about the dual spring recoil system and I must say it's a non-issue. The first 100rnds through the gun with my normal production load, which is about 131-132PF in my Gen 3 G17, and they all functioned perfectly. I'd have to say the muzzle jump was a little less then my Gen 3 with the stock recoil system. In the same session I also ran a mag of Winchester Ranger 127gr +p+ through it and was completely controllable. Mags of course interchange with the release set to the left side. It fits perfectly in both my holsters for my Gen 3s. The Gen 3 slide will also fit and seems like it would function perfect minus the huge gap between the frame. Besides that it does have the trademark Gen 4 horrid trigger but I plan to leave everything alone right now. I bought this one for my house gun which is good cause I prefer my Gen 3's feel and trigger.
  3. Starline TJ were not interchangeable for my Bedell Shorty. Dan originally setup the gun for 38 Supercomp. I bought 3k TJ and about 300rnds into it was getting REAL fed up with cases getting stuck in the ejection port backwards (1-2 per mag). Gave Dan (great guy btw) a call and it turns out the extractor wasn't holding enough tension for consistent extraction. It all depends how your extractor is setup. Swapped the rest of mine with a friend who used TJ for Supercomp and my gun is now 100% for me about 500 rnds later.
  4. Yep, you got training from some of the best. I've been to the USSA competition pistol class and had a great experience learning from their instructors. The changes they can make in two days to your prep, shooting and analysis is amazing. Glad you are seeing the benefits so quickly! Pat was the guest instructor at my class and he's a great instructor and really cool person. I got the opportunity to shoot with him at the Double Tap and it was a great experience as well. Pat is always willing to help someone out and it's much appreciated. If they ever get an advanced class setup at USSA I'd be back in a heartbeat!
  5. If you like the Ghost type holsters their Revolver one is pretty nice. I've only got to play with the CR Speed and the Ghost but of the two I'd have to say I was WAY more impressed with the Ghost. It actually secures the gun at the trigger guard and on the lower front part of the frame. While it's more secure it's still the same 1/2" lift and it breaks free for presentation. Also the lock is a Lock... no way that gun is coming out or spinning. Add to that it's $30 cheaper then the CR Speed and I'm not sure why more people don't use one. Oh... and here's for the super rare photo of one (not my photo... credit to who ever owns this rig )
  6. Now that I'm awake and back with the living I'd like to say a HUGE thanks to squad 23. That was easily one of the finest squads I've ever had the pleasure of shooting with!
  7. Little Snow a little mud... and COLD!!! Don't let that fool ya though we're still having fun! That being said I'm glad to be back in my room and ready for dinner and a beer!
  8. If you are using the UZI adapter http://maglula.tripod.com/lula.htm#UZI%20LULA For Colt pattern or modified UZI mags http://maglula.tripod.com/lula.htm#COLT%20SMG%20LULA I've used the UZI one and it ROCKS for loading 30rnd sticks. It works just like the AR15 one.
  9. Buy MORE THEN ONE! I put one in all my bags, it's not that important for production but with Limited I find I get way more consistent loading cause the rounds are dropped in with no pressure on them plus I save my thumbs. I went to a class where we went through a little over 1000 rnds in 3 days. After everyone watched me and my Dad loads mags those guys started showing up on day 2 and 3 with them, paying top dollar at local stores. Give one an honest try and you'll love it.
  10. I got to shoot a Beretta Model 89 Target a few years back and it was impressive although still not on the Hammerli level. Since then Beretta discontinued it and brought out the 87 which I thought would be comparable. I finally got to put my hands on one last weekend and I was severely let down from my expectations. The Hammerli would be VERY cool but remember that any pistol of that style is going to require more maintenance and be very picky on ammunition compared to a Ruger, Buckmark, etc...
  11. Have you checked your ammo's crimp and ran them through a good quality case gauge?
  12. Just remember to practice with it or it will be a useless do-hickey. After it becomes second nature you'll cuss when you have to use an AR without one
  13. Weird... thought I had wondered into the Classifieds somehow..
  14. I bought one for mine after I had to do my first unload and show clear with the AR... what a juggling act! Now it goes so quick and smooth the RO had to take a double take on my first match after showing clear... I know he was waiting for the juggling act. As another benefit I had a double feed in the same match and it GREATLY speeds up clearing those and getting back on target fast. I can't see not running one now. It takes the most cumbersome movement you can do with an AR and makes it a simple flip of the finger.
  15. If you are using factory sights now you can probably guestimate using this chart that Bowen provides. They also explain how their heights correspond to the factory. http://www.bowenclassicarms.com/Parts_SW_sight_chart.htm If you look through parts they sell just the blades separate including a blank to make your own... That seems pretty cool for those of you who are rather picky So... who's got one already or gonna be the guinea and try one of these out and tell us what they think?
  16. I'm not so sure.. The ability for Icore shooters to shoot in more common USPSA matches would be a hit I'd think right off the bat. Also for the gamers who don't shoot revolver now maybe this would give them an excuse. I've got access to a 627PC worked over by Carmoney with mousefart loads... it's a hoot! I'll see if a few of the local revo shooters want to do a very small scale test at our local match
  17. Has anyone tried these sights that are for sale through Brownells? Looks like a solid sight with a few blade options. http://www.brownells.com/.aspx/pid=31965/Product/S_W_REVOLVER_ROUGH_COUNTRY_HEAVY_DUTY_ADJUSTABLE_REAR_SIGHT
  18. One more thing... There definitely needs to be a test of this to see if it's lop-sided in any way on a large level as others have said. I can't recall anyone taking this on yet. Would one of the annual "outlaw" Revolver only matches make a great test for this? Heck make it a Charity match that way if it turns out a one-sided disaster there's still a good cause benefiting
  19. I don't see this as anything other then a positive for the smallest division in USPSA. 1. Bring in more shooters from another shooting sport (ICore) 2. Break up the single gun class AKA 5" 625's especially considering they aren't currently in production. 3. Bring in a competitive minor option for those who either A have the equipment or B can't shoot minor due to build or other issues (wrist/hand injuries). 4. Build in more options on how to shoot a stage OR match therefore adding to the challenge. Honestly these are good things for ANY division but considering the small turnout for revolver at most USPSA matches this would be even more beneficial. Now the question I have is how are changes like this proposed to the USPSA board and subsequently voted on? I seriously doubt anyone's going to take notice and just propose it... someone has to be the "Voice" and know where to apply it.
  20. Glad to know that Glock's service/support carries on to more then just the pistol itself.

    g35 or g34

If you reload keep the 35, more flexible gun and only slightly more expensive to feed while shooting production. Also minor 40 is fluffy soft and most new shooters like that.. If you don't reload sell it and go buy a 34 it'll serve you good with factory ammo.
  22. 5 on the belt and the fifth one is my starter for 95% of stages. If it looks like I might need one more to avoid the awkward standing reload or to make a stage flow I'll put my starter in my front left pocket. As far as this Barney mag stuff you guys all talk about don't you know that's what 9rnd 40 S&W mags are for? P.S. Yes I only load ONE to 9rnds and make sure it stands out (to avoid rolling to open div with unloaded starts).

    Wedge

Very cool Eric. Thanks for the pic, I'll have to get one of these ordered.
