  1. I see lots of talk about MBA-1 but has anyone found an alternate for the disaster of a buttpad? I like the stock, weight is perfect for my rifle, adjust-ability is perfect and loc-tite fixes all the stupid screws. That buttpad though, who thought an extremely hard, skinny, square and hooked back at the bottom pad was a good idea? When I shoot a typical match I get bruises from the bottom of the pad where it kicks out. This is typically from shouldering it squared up like I would a carbine. Traditional rifle stance or prone isn't as bad. I pulled the pad off and it's all built up inside of the pad preventing you from just slapping another on there.

    CZ Shadows 2 is coming

Frame changes all look great to me, might have to finally cave and buy a CZ.

    CZ TS Orange

Does anyone know how long you can load .40 in a TS magazine? Curious if I could make one of these take 1.180 ammo I use in my other limited/SS guns.
  4. Looks like I'm cancelling and trying Manny's. Such a shame as I really liked Eric's product. Can't believe he didn't just sell off everything to someone else who could produce them more reliably.
  5. Been shooting an 8" 300 BO for two years now. I'm using a Noveske barrel with their gas block as they seem to nail gas port size. The rifle is ran 90% suppressed with an H2 buffer both super and subs and cycles everything with the can off or on. If you are going 300 BO do yourself a favor and get a 8-10" barrel. You gain very little from anything longer and with a suppressor it keeps the rifle's size manageable. Keep in mind 300BO can be expensive to shoot so it's not really a "plinker". Mine is used as a deer rifle for tree stand/blind use where it's awesome. Also I've got around 1300rnds through mine so far without cleaning and I've done nothing but add oil to it. Gun has been 100% reliable. So pick your barrel/gasblock/buffer combo carefully.
  6. Guys has anyone heard from Eric in the past two months? I made an order with him back in March and followed that up with an email in April. I paid with Paypal so the funds are allocated and I'm considering retracting the order due to lack of any response. If he is done for good what the next most similar product out now? I want a full wrap and the fine grit like he used. It's the perfect setup for me and I'd hate to change.
  7. I'd suggest a slide stop ext or std, whatever your preference is. There is that small wire "spring" that has broken on two of mine. When it goes, it makes your life total hell too. Slide starts catching repeatedly mid stage, almost like a single shot at that point. I always carry one of those along with striker spring (factory weight and lightened), spring cups, trigger return spring and a universal punch for the pins. Whole kit fits into a small zippered pouch.
  8. Had some great luck with Sierra 125 OTMs. Was very suprised because of the flat base but I only tested out to 300yds.
  9. Had the Syrac Gen 1 and the adjustment screw would constantly stick and I'd have to put some quick rounds through the gun to break it loose. SLR has been on for a few matches now with NO sticking. Seems to be the better mousetrap. Also the guys at SLR serve up some great customer service!
  10. Go with the R700. Almost every gunsmith in the country knows how to work on them, the aftermarket is insane, almost AR-ish in variations. Being your on a tight budget I'd also consider the used market which is also massive for the R700. Sure people make stuff for the others but you can typically get R700 stuff second hand pretty cheap. Heck even Magpul is making chassis and mag systems for the R700 now. It's the clear winner.
  11. I have a STI Trojan in 40 and I absolutely love the gun. I also have a Dan Wesson custom shop built 40 S&W and I'd honestly part with that before the Trojan. Both will take some work, filing, etc. in my experience to fit your hand and work absolutely perfect. I'm also not a fan of stainless framed 1911s though.
  12. M Frames and their off-shoots are nice but the Tombstones really address the issue with the frame at the top causing problems. I usually see this when shooting prone under barricades or rifle. I'll be buying a set when they first come out and I currently have two pair of M frames i use.

If you're doing all this to not have to break your grip I'd say practice mag changes. I'd bet 95% of shooters break their grip to some degree and you'd never be able to tell. It's just not the most time consuming part of a reload to really worry about it.
  14. Have a G17 that is similar but not quite as far with a factory barrel. If someone else would let you try another 34 barrel and see if it shoots true I'd try that before messing with anything. You could also try another locking block from another gun. That would help you find out if it's one part off or a stacking of tolerances. My G17 is just the barrel, I live with it...
  15. I have two 34s I use for Production and both have factory barrels in them. Kyle's comments are dead-on. You're scores won't show a difference unless you're in some kind of bullseye league.. There is likely no upgrade to be had (except for luck of the draw). Factory Glock barrels are good barrels. They shoot straight, feed well, and group well. One would only likely see improvement with a "fit" barrel from the aftermarket, not drop in. Your Glock barrel should be more accurate than most shooters. I do own a few KKM barrels. I do like them. But, I didn't buy them for accuracy reasons (open gun barrel with compensator, caliber conversion, etc.). However, in my current match gun, I am still running the stock G34 barrel.

    34 mag question

Honestly if they get dirty I just run mine under water or in a mud puddle and depress the follower a bit to drain everything out. I've done this a LOT and there are no issues. About every 6mo to a year I'll disassemble my glock mags and run a dry rag through the to remove residue. When I do I just use a solid 1/8" punch shoved through the take-down hole and pop the plate off as shown in the video below. I like less tools and do-hickeys to keep track of. Oh, and yes I have a GTUL somewhere in my parts pile but never use it.
  17. Go with the Jager as the rod head is the correct diameter for a Gen 4. Everyone says a Gen 3 will work and it will but the head is much smaller diameter which makes me uneasy. If you clean your gun all the time go with a captured system. Otherwise go uncaptured as it is hell to remove those little allen screws in the guide rods when you change springs. ISMI 13lb is a great 34 spring weight as well and lasts a long long time.

What division are you using the gun in? That would limit you to factory releases. Are you having problems depressing the button or do you just not want to break your grip to reload? If you aren't worried about division rules try the Zev Gen 4 release. It's actually angled and serrated which makes it incredibly easy to hit. http://zevtechnologies.com/search/index.ssp#/Mag-Releases
  19. Buffer doesn't necessarily contribute to felt recoil as much as it speeds the cyclic rate up. It can be counter productive to where the recoil impulse is "sharp". The adjustable gas block will do far more to reduce what you feel in the shoulder. Tune it to just lock back on an empty mag with your load and then open the system like 1/4 turn more for insurance. Then you know you're dealing with just the cyclic weight. Now watch the reticle movement with multiple shots. Is it a slow bobbing of the reticle and brass coming out at the 5 o clock? If so a lighter buffer will speed things up and reduce the bobbing. If the brass is kicking out at the 2-3 o'clock position that typically means the bolt is cycling too fast which means all kinds of other issues. Hope this helps...
  20. Anyone had any luck with using WST to make factory type velocities? I've been playing with WST and while I think it feels great at 4.5-4.7gr that makes major in my G21 and 1911 I'm finding I have to go over book to get to 800fps with the 230gr Precision Delta's I got loaded to 1.250OAL. Currently I'm at 5.0gr and hitting 770's for avg. I'm shooting for 800fps as my goal and would really like to stay with the WST powder. Anyone loading WST that hot or hotter?
  21. Wanted to see if anyone knows of a company making magazine extensions, slide rackers or any normal Shotgun accessories in colors for 3-gun? At a recent major 3-gun match you could not pick out the difference from 8 guns sitting in the pre-load area from 10 feet. All were M2 Benellis and ALL black. When you are tired and hot it only complicates things. I've picked up someone else's gun several times only to walk a foot or two and return it and find mine. Looking around it seems like there is some kind of requirement to make everything for these guns in black as well. I found one shooter with a red extension tube only to find out it was a special edition run and no more were made. I think it's about time somebody step up and make SOMETHING different if only an extension tube, a racker or something in 3-4 colors. It would help a ton while grabbing gear for your stage.
  22. dkleskiw and I were in the first squad to shoot this stage as well. So we were experimenting a lot and ran a lot of stuff across the RO's. I find the RO's may handle things different from stage to stage but they always seem to stick with it which I think makes it fair. I'd like to thank Kirk, Misty and crew as well for throwing a great match! This year's stages were solid with great improvements in trouble spots of the past. You can tell they are working to make a better match year after year and it keeps getting better. Also adding my addition to match videos!
  23. Thanks for the information Cotys. This should come in handy for me as I'll have an almost identical setup. Question though, which case feeder plate are you using?
