  1. Not sure if any of the photos here are of the quality that you are looking for...If you want any of these, let me know and I can get you the original... http://maine3gun.org/index.php?option=com_...8&Itemid=48
  2. I got these pics this week in my inbox. They were taken 1/26/09 in Northern Maine, and do a pretty good job of showing how cold it was...
  3. Wish they were going to come somewhere near my home, but I don't think it's gonna happen right off. I haven't seen them since the Black Album tour, and couldn't talk for 2 days afterwards, cause I screamed a little too much.
  4. Metallica - From Master of Puppets to ...And Justice For All seemed like they were pretty much speaking to me... Slayer - Reign in Blood era Tool - Yet to disappoint...just keeps hitting deeper and deeper every time I hear them...
  5. I guess that I'm confused about how the lee bullet feeder attaches to the press. I thought that it basically hung off the top side of the seating die.
  6. Has anyone ever tried to adapt a bullet feeder from a Lee Pro 1000 to a 550?
  7. I try to travel often enough so that the dogs need to go to the kennel whenever their toes need trimming. Every time we pick them up, they are neatly trimmed. The girls there do a good job, and it helps me avoid having 2 ticked off bleeding terriers running around my house. My blue heeler mix (entered our lives as a stray a year ago) apparently has nails that are hard to cut without causing her pain and bleeding. But when they're not trimmed, she causes ME pain and bleeding when we play. A groomer down the street now takes care of it very competently for us for $10 every couple of months...worth the small investment. I just can't stand hurting my dog so I'm relieved not to have to do it any more. Curtis Edited to add a pix of my pup, taken on the trail this year in Colorado.
  8. I also went to a pistol grip on my 11-87, and then went back to a conventional stock. It decreased felt recoil for me, but I just didn't like the way weak hand loading felt. I thought it would be better having a pistol grip on a pistol, rifle, and a shotgun, but the shotgun just drives, shoots and loads differently enough for me that I prefer it the old fashioned way.
  9. I knew I was in trouble when the starting position was arms extended straight up, and I couldn't straighten them, because I had too many layers on. Of course, I was dressed like the little brother in A Christmas Story...
  10. We just held the 3rd Annual Frozen at Hampden Rifle and Pistol Club. We started the day with 0 degree temperatures, and about a 20 below wind chill. In spite of the weather, 24 shooters showed up, and had a blast in high winds and frigid temps. At one point, I went indoors in between stages, and my pistol turned in to a snow cone. It iced up with about an 1/8 inch thick layer of frost. We even had a rifle side match afterwards, which had to be the coldest I've ever been behind a trigger. Hats off to everybody that took the time to show up today!
  11. I burn wood, oil, and pellets. Splitting wood is one of those tasks that makes you feel like you are really accomplishing something when you do it. I split, and the wife and kids lug it and pile it. As Maineshootah can attest to, the pyro in me is game for anything that will ultimately lead to fire!
  12. Mine has run flawlessly. I haven't had a single malfunction with it yet. I've run a pile of rounds through it, and a friend put it in his AR pistol and shot a big pile of ammo through that, and it worked like a charm. Review I wrote on another web site
  13. The knives I carry every day are your run of the mill Kershaw Leeks, Chives, and Scallions. The funky looking blade in the picture is one that means the world to me, even though it was made out of stuff out of the scrap bin. My grandmother was in the Marines in WWII, serving as a machinist. She made this blade for my great-grandfather out of a bayonet, some scrap brass, some bakelite type stuff, and windshield material from an airplane. She told me that she made a pile of them when she was in the service, for guys headed overseas. She'd make them however they wanted, and trade them for their dessert out of the mess hall. I wouldn't trade this one for the world. Edited to fix borked picture...
  14. 12 degrees always seems pretty dry... Nice job Jay...Just think, in about 4 months, we'll be able to shoot without snow boots on again...
  15. Are your other SKS's Chinese? There are a few Chinese models that used AK mags instead of the integrated 10 round mags. In general, you can convert SKS's to the removable mags that are made to work without butchering the stock, but they don't tend to work really well. Get good with stripper clips, and you'll be surprised how fast you can reload. If what you have is a like new Russian unit, please don't carve it up.
  16. Are they the correct mags for these? http://www.kel-tec-cnc.com/images/downloads/newfor2008.jpg
  17. 1. As a shooter, your most important job is to always call your shot. 2. A goal of practice should not be to pull the trigger as many times as possible. Always make sure that your goal is quality, not quantity. 3. Whatever you are trying, make sure that it is to the best of your abilities.
  18. Mine worked fine until my sons dog chewed the cords on it. Taped it up, and it was back in business.
  19. Sometimes, there is even a little triangle, pointing at the side the gas cap is on.
  20. Send em all back, and replace them with something with a lower failure rate. If you loaded a 30 round mag, and 7 of the rounds were squibs, you probably would be real excited about using that ammo anymore.
  21. That's cool. I'd probably prefer to have a Model D or M SKS for most rifle stages than an AK. The extra sight radius can't hurt. I think that in general, SKS's are a little more accurate than AK's. I like to see people having fun, and shooting unconventional stuff.
  22. If it doesn't end up working out, there is a business local here that rebuilds cordless power tool batteries for less money than what a replacement costs, and people have reported good results.
  23. I've shot my Yugo at a few local matches. The two things against 7.62x39 for me is any targets over 200 yards (for me at least) and the fact that it is the same PF as .223, but with more recoil, so my follow up shots are slower. I have more fun shooting my AK, but would prefer to be competitive.
