  1. The Vortex reticle is posted in the very first post of this thread. Its what sparked alot of this discussion and what spawned my idea for the broken circle. I'm not fond of it at all. Too busy for my tastes but at that price point it will sell well. It is going to be a daylight visible dot and only the dot is going to be illuminated.
  2. I use a Noveske 1/8 and it shoots my 55 Hornady FMJ's almost as good as my 69 SMK's. I've had a LaRue Lothar Walther barrel that did the same. It loved the 55 Nosler Ballistic tip and Hornady VMax.
  3. Tod, Is that through PRI or does a retailer somewhere carry that length? I have never seen such a beast, but I sure do want one. Its through PRI(you need to call them to get it). MSTN carries alot of PRI and uses them on their builds. They may have one. They did a build not long ago with a 14" PRI that I saw on their pics page on AR15.com
  4. PRI also makes their carbon fiber tube as long as 15 1/2"
  5. I'm pretty sure they don't make one longer than 12". It takes a 14" long handguard to cover the gas block on a rifle gas system. He dang sure used to if he does not now. I have one thats 14". But you're special. Yes....he used to make longer tubes. Is yours the larger diameter tube?

  7. Just get one of the many low profile gas blocks. JP and PRI both make adjustable low profile gas blocks that will fit under the handguard. There are only a few choices of handguards that will cover a gas block on a rifle length gas system. The Firebird and PRI carbon fiber . And the 13.2 Larue and 13" Troy Extreme cover half of it.
  8. A friend of mine drew up my reticle idea and scaled it against a 10" target at varying distances for reference. It is designed around using a 200 yard zero. Basically very similar to the Lund reticle just with the broken 50moa outer circle,2 moa dot, horizontal level lines, and a 300 yard aiming point extension of the stadia tree.
  9. The Magpul Dynamics guys are running the KAC Triple Tap. It works good for what it does but $400......PLEASE. For a work gun/fighting rifle I prefer the PWS FSC556 that Dave Neth designed. For my competition guns I run the SJC Titan. I have not found a more effective comp yet. The closest thing to it is the Benny Hill Rolling Thunder. Both of those comps take full advantage of max diameter and length for tactical division.
  10. Keep an eye on steapandcheap.com The Dakine packs and others that come up on there are super durable and nice at great discounted prices.
  11. I just hate that they always wait until there is a failure or shortcoming in the system to implement something that should have been implemented to start with.
  12. Hey....I got to be good at something. Notice the title under my avatar.
  13. From what I have seen as of late is that there surely is a good bit of aftermarket mods available for these things. Just do your research, take your pic, and lay out your fat wad of cash.
  14. Alan......I'm just trying to figure out how this reticle can get us a reshoot.
  15. It is in MOA.....just 5/8 moa instead of half. Half would be ideal.
  16. I wonder if it has anything to do with 5/8moa being the closest to 1mil at 6 clicks?
  17. Rob01......why the MLR reticle instead of the NPR1? To stay mil/mil?
  18. We tried the Remington Arredondo bracket first. It worked OK and required lots of modification and welding. We then tried the Benelli Arredondo bracket and it worked with minimal modification and worked much better. It basically required just drilling a new hole. I asked him to post some pics and do a write up and explanation of the mods. I will forward this link to him.
  19. I'm more of a 3 gun shooter than I am a precision rifle shooter. I think a daylight visibile reticle SN4 with SFP is going to cost a tad more than $1350 --- as Erik noted in his post USO will have to redesign the scope body. As a prospective buyer for the scope I would need to justify the cost. Other than hold-overs... What practical advantage will this version of the SN4 give me over my Meopta? IMHO.... nothing. Given that I have the Meopta, I'm I going to pay $1350+ just to have holdovers at one specific power? Nope. Why not have an initial version that is FFP and daylight visible? USO can get their beaks wet with a daylight visible reticle(DVR) in the SN4. Then when they get that perfected they can then redesign the scope body to be able to have SFP and a DVR. They already have the JPJ1 reticle in the FFP. Assuming they make this reticle daylight visible. It should transfer across all their reticles. There ya go. The JPJ1 is what led to having this reticle design put into the rear focal plane. It simply sucked in the FFP. The scope body only needs to be redesigned for illumination of the dot only with the reticle placed in the rear rather than the front. The hardware to do such does not fit when the reticle is placed in the rear focal plane. The scope body works fine by placing the reticle in the rear as is. The only option to illuminate the reticle without redesigning the scope body is to illuminate the entire reticle. Personal benefit and justification of this reticle is subjective. Its not gonna be for everyone nor suit everyone. But I am curious.....why would you need to have holdovers on power less than 4? On top of that....it becomes increasingly harder to see a smaller stadia tree which would hinder speed. I just don't get the rationale of having a FFP reticle in a scope with 6x or less.
  20. Its probably gonna be about $1350 for the illuminated model.
  21. Erik's entire design was based around the second focal plane and the reticle remaining a constant size. Him nor I have found a need to use holdovers on anything less than max power in a low power optic of less than 6x. I guess this is something that precision rifle guys get hung up on. Still do not get it. I totally understand the need and intent for FFP scopes in precision rifle work.....but a low power CQB type optic? Makes no sense to me.
  22. Nope.....it is far from getting stuck. Its an Infinity trigger with a medium flat shoe. It has a little side to side slop but fits good top to bottom. My EGW magwell would not push up far enough for the mainspring pin hole to line up. I had to mill about .025" out of the bottom of the EGW magwell so that it would seat and the pins line up. But my STI and Krebs lined up fine.
  23. I just got the slim one and think its the best thing I've done to my LIM gun. It shoots better and feels 150 times better. It doesn't even shoot the same. It recoils and tracks much better. The trigger even feels better and is sweet. I added grip tape to it and it is good to go. Exactly one ounce heavier than my polymer grip. I added the ZM Weapons stainless steel mainspring housing and it balances great. The only problem was that my Rescomp mag would no fit into it all the way. I had to wrap some 220 grit paper around a 3/8" dowel and massage the front corners inside the grip so it would fit. I also polished the inside of the grip opening to a mirror finish.....just because. But....I like it alot. It was worth every penny.
  24. Mine has been used and abused for 2 years now and close to 15k rounds on it. Still awesome and have not adjusted it yet. I love mine and highly recommend it.
