  1. My rifle weighs 9lbs 4oz with the optic. But its more a factor of how the rifle balances for me than overall weight. Its taken me over 2 years of trying different setups to arrive at the rifle setup I have been shooting. I run a 17" light contoured rifle gas Noveske barrel PRI carbon fiber handguard(competition) mated to a Vltor MUR upper. BCG is an IonBonded Young lightened NM Stock is Magpul PRS Lower is a C3 Defence Billet Trigger is an AR Gold Optic is Swarovski Z6i in a LaRue 1.93 mount Comp is the spectacular super effective SJC Titan
  2. Agreed. I've always just used the R-P stuff and taken my prep to the highest level. One thing I notice is that the R-P seems to be much softer than my 7-08 Win. I get about 4-5 loads out of it til the primer pockets get loose and see bulges near the web.
  3. Nosler makes 280AI brass. I was speaking in terms of the quality of their brass.
  4. I bought 100 pieces of the 280 Ackley Improved brass just to have some properly marked stuff. Very nice and concentric. All weighed almost exactly the same. Necks were beautiful as well as the rest of the brass.
  5. I had a great time at a great match for such a great cause. I'm lucky to have attended for the last several years. its a don't miss match in my book and the perfect end to a season of shooting. Thanks To All That Made It Possible! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!!!
  6. It can be done and Ti works fine. But John and Steve have no interest in having them made due to the investment required and no demand for them. I personally would love one but you and I apparently are a minority.
  7. Yes....it was a Safariland(Pride-Fowler) 3x9 or something on the shootoff guns.
  8. I doubt you would have gas issues with an 18". 16" yes....but probably not with 18". But yeah.....cut it to 20" and you will be plenty safe.
  9. I thought most matches allowed it so long as it started and finished on the rifle and was not removed during the match?
  10. Cut it to 22" and thread it and make it a good medium weight contour(.820 before and .750 after the gas block) with maybe some additional fluting for reduced weight. But if 600 yards is all you will ever shoot it. 18-20" will do fine.
  11. The shortest you can go on the SLP is just under an inch. Due to the recoil tube assembly. You can cut 3/4" off the existing stock and reinstall it pretty easy with a little fitting.
  12. YEP.....This one is hitting too close to home--CLOSED
  13. I saw the way you shot at Benning. You just stay out there on the west coast.
  14. I use the same springs and guiderods as my Glocks in my M&P.
  15. I was trying to get some information as to plan ahead and bring me a sidekick to assist in the extremely laborious task of resetting the stages or see if they may be slightly less involved. It wore me out last year. The shooting was difficult enough yet alone do it after resetting every stage 6-8 times. Yeah....I'm whinin....I won't lie. Reset kicked my butt and took some of the fun out of it for me. But then I got to the prize table and it was all better til next year.
  16. Very cool!!! Thanks for posting.
  17. I was able to trick those boxes into not flicking my safety off. I put an M&P in there and confused the hell out of every box at the match. Meanwhile....they got all my competition.
  18. Ok.....well suppose there is another assistant to the RO on the stage and he walks by and picks up the gun and then places it back into the abandonment box not ever looking to see if the safety was on. Then the RO walks over and picks it up and sees the safety off. There needs to be no doubt about DQing a shooter. And in a situation like this.....there is plenty of doubt. Burden should be on the shooter...not the RO.
  19. Way to go Tyler. Get in there and help carry the torch for future FB3G matches. The AMU must carry the legacy of the best 3 gun match ever.
  20. I agree with this statement. Obviously safety comes first, but this is no different than any other stage instruction. We mostly have no problem staying within the fault lines, shooting targets in the correct order, etc... This should be part of every shooters stage plan and practice. If you practice putting the weapon on safe when moving, taking your finger off the trigger and clearing a weapon it becomes muscle memory just like a reload or draw. Plus the added benefit of preventing a ND or DQ. +1 Anyone can spend an extra 0.5s to put down the gun so that it wont slide, or bump the safety off. If you just throw your gun into the grounding box, yes, the safety might come off. I've also seen shooters get DQ'd when trying to empty their guns on the clock, so I dont think that either method is any better/safer than the other one. It's up to the shooter to ground their firearm in a safe way and if the grounding box is constructed in a way that makes you nervous about your gun sliding around, or the safety getting bumped, you just have to spend the extra time to make sure you do it in a safe way. What if you take the extra time to be careful and after two of the range staff pick up and handle your gun they inform you your safety was off and you are DQ'ed? though you didn't get to see it before they handled it? guess you had to be there I'm not too fond of being told my gun was not safe without being able to visually inspect its resting condition after I left it and before it was handled by someone else. Especially if I were to take the extra time to knowingly engage a safety. I also disagree with a total match DQ for such. If the gun is to be grounded and not create a detriment of safety to anyone.....whats the purpose of a match DQ? Its grounded in a box and in a safe direction. If an RO or anyone else for that matter walk up and see a gun not on safe or cannot see the safety. Put the burden on the shooter to show a safe weapon. Once its touched by someone other than the shooter.....the chance to remove all doubt is gone. It sucks knowing you were shooting the match of your life only to know it was ended by possibly the fault of someone else.
  21. Kelly.....you make a good point about the calibrated BDC being only useful on one power. which in the case of that scope would probably be 8. I'm with you there. And Daniel......well.....he'd beat us with iron sights.
  22. In this and most 3 gun matches.....long guns are staged or dumped and a sling becomes a hindrance. I do on occasion sling up if alot of offhand shooting is necessary. Then I will sling up and use the sling as a shooting aide. And some matches do require slings for weapon transitions. It just depends. Nothing says you can't use one.
