  1. This lawsuit may change its future or at least its release a little.
  2. I try and not ship "firearms" but "precision hole punchers" or "high velocity hole punchers" instead.
  3. No....the Winlites are not the same. I found a guy that deals in LE ammo to get me my Ranger slugs by the case. I used to get them from Ammunition To Go til I found him.
  4. HAPPY BIRTHDAY ALL and especially you Adam. Glad you've made such a speedy recovery so that you can continue to pile brass with us.
  5. I've been shooting my SX3 for the past year.(if you do a search,my threads will come up of what I did to build it) I changed from a Benelli. Why? I just sorta wanted change and wanted to fool with a gas gun that was lighter than the Benelli. I really like my SX3. Is it more reliable than a Benelli. No....its on par with my Benelli. Recoil is about the same with a slight different feel mostly due to the increased cyclic speed of the bolt. My shoulder still feels the same recoil though. I haven't seen a shotgun that I would consider 100% reliable yet. Its a shotgun. They choke on occasion. Some more than others. Just look at the size of shell and how much each one of those things weighs and you'll realize it as a mechanical object succeeds at accomplishing a tough feat. The FN SLP is very soft shooting due in part to its weight. The SX3 has reduced weight because of the vent rib barrel being much lighter than the straight 22" barrel with cantilever mount on the SLP Mk1. The barrel accounts for 13 ounces of the 20 ounce weight difference of my SX3 to the FN SLP Mk1. The other additional weight is in the furniture and sleeve that covers the mag extension on the SLP. My SX3 with cut down 21" barrel weighs in at 6lb 10oz. and holds 8+1 rounds with the mag tube flush with the barrel. I really like my SX3. It has run great(so far)and not given me any more slight feed mishaps than my Benelli ever did. I've found with any shotgun that they like to be fed good food. Feed them good food and they stay happy and work harder more often. Feed it McDonalds and it gets lazy and less likely to do good work. All shotguns(even them damn sghetti slingers) need regular maintenance. They benefit from spring replacements often.
  6. Not really.....its a Noveske barrel with a rifle length gas system and a special medium weight contour. I've been shooting an upper that I built identical to that one for the past two seasons. I love it.
  7. Are you guys securing the slide in a vice(with soft jaws) or just wailing on it on the bench top? I secure mine in a vise and its just not hard to get the pin out with a shortened punch. One maybe two good smacks with my 8oz. ball peen and its loose and I chase it out with a longer punch.
  8. He lists his mags in the USPSA classifieds
  9. Lets just say my source knows 100% anything that goes into the M&P line. Good....that saves me some effort. Thanks!
  10. You know.....thats what I thought as well but was informed otherwise by a reputable source who told me it was a barrel fused into a chamber. I argued and he told me I was incorrect. I've been meaning to ask some guys I know that work for S&W and ask them if in fact it was a solid barrel or not. Because my first instinct was to believe it was solid.
  11. The majority of the Adventure Travel Team will be present. We will be without the main character who comprises the "C" in CPWSA though. Hopefully we will have good adventures to report without him present. Looking forward to the match.
  12. The inconsistency in accuracy from several different guns is usually inherent in a two piece design barrel. Just for the shear fact the barrel is two piece and there have been multiple failures at the joint is reason enough for me to get a KKM replacement barrel. Is it necessary....not always. If it makes you feel better. I'm all about saying to pull the trigger on something if it increases your confidence in your gear. I'll put a few thousand more rounds through my stock barrel and then get a KKM.
  13. I'm assuming you've exhausted your other options for contact to follow up on your prize before airing this here? I did and I got a return email saying they were trying to get them all filled but they are in a state of deployment and trying to get all their training completed before they depart for their mission. Yes, they are the AMU but mission first. Please be patient a little longer. I'm sure you will be receiving it soon.
  14. I still want to know the actual weight of the 9L slide without barrel or recoil spring assembly.
  15. I mount my rifles in a vise and level the rifle. Across the basement from my vise is a string with a plumb bob hanging. Once I know the rifle is level. I adjust the scopes vertical crosshair or stadia line to be in line with the plumb line.
  16. Rob and I both shoot the Winchester Ranger LE slugs. They are 1oz. and 1200fps. They shoot great out of his Benelli and run it well and do the same in my SX3. We mail order cases at a time. We've tried others but these seem to be what has worked best for us for the best price as well. I also like the Federal TruBalls but they are a bit harder to get and a good bit more expensive for the same results as the Ranger slugs.
  17. In the video I'm sure they are referring to full power buck and slugs as most would use for hunting and what is most widely available in the stores. In competition though, the majority of folks use the reduced or managed recoil buckshot and 1oz. slugs travelling in the 12-1300fps range. Those loads are pretty equal in power to standard low brass birdshot. If the loads are not marked low or managed recoil. More than 3 1/4dram of powder starts to get past the realms of the light piston. The inside of the aluminum receiver will get battered by the bolt and shave off some aluminum from the rear of the receiver. Roll gun over and remove the trigger group. You will notice some artificial material buffer pads at the rear to cushion rearward travel of the bolt. Prolonged shooting of loads exceeding 3 1/4dram will overcome these buffers and batter the aluminum and put shavings in the receiver. Also one thing I have noticed is that the piston needs to remain clean for very reliable operation. I clean my piston in an ultrasonic cleaner about every 200 and no more than 250 rounds. If you don't have an ultrasonic cleaner, use a mason or pickle jar with mineral spirits and soak the piston for a few hours and then brush thoroughly with a toothbrush. another option is to have the piston sealed by SureCycle as mentioned above. To accomplish that, they disassemble the piston and replace the spring with a fixed spacer which keeps the piston in the fully open position. I have yet to do this as I want my gun to fail as a result first. I think the biggest reasons this is done is because of neglect of cleaning the piston enough and carbon buildup impedes full operation of the piston opening and closing.
  18. That SureCycle system is the recoil tube replacement. Its a stainless part that will not rust. Its main purpose was designed around waterfowl hunters. Contact SureCycle about buying a piston with the spacer installed or sending them your piston to convert it. I don't believe they will sell just the spacer. Unfortunately its not an item on their website.
  19. The Titan is totally legal for Tactical division.
  20. Hey Tzyga......The Winchester SX2/3 and FN SLP series are the same shotguns. For some reason the SLP's come with a heavy and a light piston. My SX3 came with just a light piston. Sounds like yours may have come with just a heavy piston which is odd. But those springs in the pistons tend to be a weak spot in the design. Sure Cycle makes a sleeve that replaces the spring and basically renders the piston fully open all the time. It may be worth looking into as a spring replacement since just the spring cannot be purchased for the piston to my knowledge. I have not yet done it to mine but I know folks like Dave Neth and Daniel Horner have and swear by the mod for reliability. I plan to sooner or later. But as for shooting slugs on the light piston. If they are low recoil slugs......they will work fine. Full power slugs will batter the rear of the receiver and aluminum shavings will build up inside from where the bolt digs into the rear of the receiver and require the heavier piston.
  21. SUH-WHEEEET This is probably my favorite match besides Benning. Those Bama boys do it up right........go figure.
  22. I know you're rather new here. Welcome to the forum. But.........this topic has been hashed out and spoken of a bazillion times. Test your search fu and see what you come up with here and in the USPSA rules section of the forum. Consider using the search function in the future prior to asking a question in a new thread.
  23. To keep things even simpler....I will suggest, since you load your own, to just shoot 40 minor. Believe it or not....it is much more pleasing to shoot than 9mm. For what you save in a 9mm barrel and other subsequent conversion parts, that will afford you the slight extra for the increase in cost of 40cal bullets. That money you save will cover the cost of 15k rounds easily if not a little more. Powder charge is pretty much on par or less with 9mm. You also will not have any reliability concerns running the 9mm on a 40cal slide. WOOPS.....missed the part in the OP about having lots of 9mm ammo. To simplify things. Trade it or sell it.
