  1. I have never used clays with BBI but stay away from titegroup it is VERY smokey. There is tons of info on VV320 and some on solo 1000. I have a friend that is using solo 1000 for 9mm and he likes it with BBIs.
  2. Please fix my spelling mistakes there is no spell check in sketch-up and I have gotten enough gr EI f about it already. I did that drawing at about 5am when I was suppose to be getting ready for Black Creeks steel match....
  3. 2. I still picked up a penalty for doing just this at a cup match. When the SO read the stage briefing of a found gun J frame stage. The SO read the description as you must fire 4 shots to the body and one to the head. So I did just that just not in the order he wanted... I did 1 to the head and 4 to the body and picked up a PE. When I questioned it as he read it as 4 and 1 not 4 and THEN one or 4 Then 1. Everyone on my squad said they were doing the exact same thing until I got popped for it. One other tip don't show up to a match wearing a USPSA shirt and a painted grip STI some SOs might automatically think your a gaming rat(and I am) but with so many of the calls being at the SOs discretion you might get some extra attention.
  4. I do not know anything about pool chemistry or the salt systems in pools but in water treatment chlorine is used as a disinfectant not for pH adjustment. Depending on the type of chlorine used it can have different effects on pH. My plant use to use pure chlorine gas and that would cause the water pH to go down due to the formation of hydrochloric acid and Hypochlorous acid. We found that when we switched over to sodium hypochlorite(house hold bleach just 5X stronger) it slightly adjusted our pH up. Chlorine will decay from exposure to sunlight and warm weather. Our storage room has its own ac system and the windows are blacked out to help with this. Chlorine residues will drop from a chlorine demand.
  5. http://sketchup.google.com/3dwarehouse/search?uq=1354797658344168684033638&scoring=m Jim and I have been using sketch up for stage designs for a couple of years. Jim has a gallery on the sketch-up page with a lot of full stages listed on it and a TON of props/targets. I have almost all of the classifiers done in sketch up and did some of 2009 VA/MD and 2009 Area 8 stages if you want them.
  6. what powder are you using to get no smoke? I use 3.2gr of VV N320 over a 147BBI it makes about 135pf out of my STI Eagle. That load does smoke a little and outside you really do not notice it. Indoors I do use a plated bullet to limit the smoke. A friend of mine is using Solo 1000 with BBI and getting good results with about the same smoke as my N320 load.
  7. reloading cost calculator this might be useful also
  8. Thanks Jim Taylor for helping me out with a couple of "issues" I was having with Sketchup 7.
  9. I have had a lot of good luck/deals on Gunbroker but I have had a couple of issues also. Make sure you ask questions of the seller and if they don't get back to you don't do it. I bought a Sig 226 and a Smith 686 that looked almost new in the ad but they turned out to be "file photos". The dealers I bought them from got them as police trade ins and had tons of them for-sale but no where in the ad did it say that it wasn't the actual gun listed. So just ask questions and read the comments about the sellers and you should be ok.
  10. I have big hands SHORT fat fingers so the grooves hit me right in the middle of the fingers. I really prefer the Gen 1 G17 frame it feels a little slimmer than the Gen 2 frames. I shot Glocks for years and wanted a g34 for production/SSP but didnt want a 3 gen frame so I bought a M&P instead. I dont think I will switch back now.
  11. I dont understand what he means by "sharp feeling". The only other issue I have had is the same with any other comp and thats shooting in tight spots and in barrels it blows back at you a lot. I will get a hold of John on Tuesday and get a good email from them and PM it to you.
  12. I have one of the 1st ones John built and love it. jobob is right it is VERY loud ROs hate standing behind me when I shoot it. There is next to no recoil with it though. If you call his shop please keep in mind they keep kinda of strange hours they open at noon and close at 7pm eastern most days and I think closed on monday. If you email them they will get back in touch with you.
  13. Ill agree here I dont think anything has helped my steel shooting as much as shooting my airsoft gun in the back yard. The one thing I would suggest is buying black or dark colored BBs for it. I found that with the white BBs I would get distracted and started to use them like tracers.
  14. I have seen the slide come off of 2 different glocks. Once the slide lock broke and the other time the slide lock was put in backwards.
  15. Beat me to it. I saw that the real one from the movie came up for sale a year or so ago. I have always wanted one just because.. I did buy a PS90 not because of a movie/tv show but everyone asks me if I am a fan of Stargate when I take it to the range. I did buy it because I loved using it in the Rainbow Six/Rogue Spear games.
  16. At this years Carolina Cup the SO started giving us the stage description of the school bus stage. I looked at him and said wow I have never been in a school bus this big before. I think he really believed me because I heard later on he was telling the other squads "This guy from Virginia said he had never been in a bus this big before!"
  17. I bought a set of Nevco targets for my own use and we use them at a my home clubs IDPA match as a steel side match. We shoot everything from .22s to major PF .45s at it with no problems. I tried some 5.7X28 out of my PS90 just to see if it would damage it and the steel is just as smooth as the day I bought it. Even though they are heavy AR500 steel they do ring really well. I shot this video just because I was supprised how well the steel did ring. Nevco Steel targets
  18. Dont feel but so bad I gave Michael Voight the wrong range commands at the Area 8 this year.
  19. These are not the diagrams that were submitted for approval.
  20. As of right now you must down load them one at a time. When I get off of work later this week I will try to zip them up and post them on a website or email them out to those that request it.
  21. A lot of people told me how much they liked the diagrams and wanted to know how Jim and I did them. I must admit Jim did most of the work. I did a lot of copy and pasting from Jim's warehouse. Jim has a 3d warehouse page on the google sketchup page. Jim Taylors 3D warehouse The 1st thing I would do is download most of Jim's warehouse including the stages. If you see an item in one of the stages but its not in there warehouse you can grab it out of the stage. In the simplest use of Sketchup its a lot like a 3d version of Paint. A couple of tips: Open multiable instances of sketchup. Paste on one and the others to copy from. If you are doing the diagrams for a match booklet. Use tagets that are 1.5X to 2X the scale size. I did this on all of the area 8 diagrams that I did. If you know the deminisions start the item you are drawing and just enter the deminsions in the measurements box in the bottom left corner. Adjust your view to a point you like and then export to a 2d diagram. I have done almost all of the classifier stages and I am planning on posting them in a warehouse as soon as I finish the rest of them in the next couple of weeks. (Homer is not in them)
  22. It happened to a lady shooting the stage I was ROing at Area 8 this year. She got a reshoot and it was worse but pasters fell off one of the targets and after replacing the targets she did better on her 2nd reshoot.
