  1. I have this scope on my comp'ed FAL. If it can hold up to that for a while, I think it'll work on an AR. I like it. Clear glass for the money and I like the reticle.
  2. I had some of that too. To get the frame rails to peen down, not just out (wider) I used a smaller plate. I could have used a .114 to just go wider, but I used the .113 to get them to peen downward too. I had to do some clean up with a slide rail file but the results made me smile.
  3. History: I had an existing 5 inch Limited STI (I didn't build it), to accurize it I opted for a 6 inch barrel and slide instead of just a new barrel. Post modification: I was happy with everything except the frame to slide fit. The new slide went right on the frame and had what I consider excessive play. I was never real happy with it, and in fact embarrassed to show off the gun because of it. It was plenty accurate, but doing super fast transitions I could feel the slide moving side to side. Post, post mod: Although the barrel fit was good, I wanted better. I had coned and fluted my bull barrel (to lighten it) and ran into some "other issues". Good learning experience. When you don't support the barrel during the whole slide cycle, the front of the barrel drops down and increases wear on the hood and the slide - rear of the radial locking grooves. I helped this in an unusual way. Turns out the guide rod was forcing the barrel down as the slide travel forward. I changed to a GI spec guide rod and that solved it. The other guide rod can still be used but I have to modify the rear portion that interfaces the lower lug area of the barrel. I swapped to the GI spec because I'm trying to reduce the nose weight even more. The GI short guide rod weighs about 1/3 of the full length. I used some standard 1911 frame plates (.113") and peened the frame slightly. Didn't take much and I have a special ball/peen hammer for this (polished). Refitted the frame to the slide and I am a super happy camper. It is now as tight and smooth as if I had started with a virgin frame. Saved me the expense of a trip to an Accu-rail'er. I O-ringed the barrel, just as I had done with my Chop,Cut,Rebuild STI. Locks up with a "snick", it had very, very slight movement at the front before. It could out shoot me before I'm sure. This was more for CDI factor, and to hone my skill at grooving a barrel on a drill press. I will no longer feel embarrassed to hand somebody my 6 inch Limited gun. It was a good day. (pic from before the frame work and o-ring)
  4. This is my first limited classifier in many months due to shooting SS so much. [excuses off] Dropped 13 points, in 14.9 seconds. Ohio has it at 80%. This is a solid classifier for me.
  5. I prefer Comp-Tac. The blade tech is a little too snug for me. I also like that material (texture) of the comp-tac over the ABS look of the blade tech.
  6. yes and no. I've tried it, doesn't fit.
  7. John, Thanks for all that you (your crew) do. My whole house knows that Wednesdays are "at the range" night on TV. As shooters, sometimes we get picky. When I'm sitting with my (completely uninterested) mother-in-law, she still gets the point of the show. It's entertaining. I kept pausing the show, rewinding, explaining how I shot this or that differently, comparing my tie breaker time in relation to the Pro's, hit the same number of plates as 'so and so', go totally spanked by 'so and so', etc. Finally, I was able to show my plate count compared to the final pro standings (wife still unimpressed...). It was a fun half hour!
  8. I told my wife on monday that I may be buying stuff on Wednesday. I called for some AR lowers on monday, supplier told me he had 80. Same supplier was called on Wednesday, zero in stock. That's fast. I picked up mine for $100 ea at a local store wednesday evening. They had four left. I took a couple and somebody came in right behind me and took the other two. Shooters Connection still had tan Pmags on Wednesday. I didn't buy ALL of them...but tan was about all they had left. Panic buying? Nope. Well, maybe. But I will be more prepared than I was last time. I'm not buying so I can resell later at a profit. I'm buying stuff I may want in the future. A $200 tax stamp is next on my list. I heard that is going up A LOT within the next 4 years.
  9. I too was just a little suprised at the omission of the AM part of the PRO-AM. Jim mentioned it at the very end, that someone could shoot on the Amateur day. Maybe next time they could include the number of amateurs that did compete, over the 3 days, and show the top ten from the Amateurs. It was cool to see the results from the Pro's though as I never looked it up. I remember it being 111 heat index. I love the desert, I like it hot, but I was very, very close to loosing it.
  10. I have a CoM holster that started out as an Edge holster. Very good. I modified it to fit my 6 inch gun.

    BOOOO!

....those pumpkins shoot back. I see at least two concealment shirts.
  12. I use a visual reference to ensure the primers are set. On the SDB, the square top (holds the shell plate) goes to flush with the white teflon corner thingie (technical term..). I look at that reference every single time. I also do a push/pull. Push on the handle, pull on the wood block it's mounted to. That keeps the table from banging into the wall.
  13. April? Hmmm. Ironically, I got my SS bump to A class the WEEK after the match. It just hadn't posted in time. Man do I need this match. I just spent 3 days and 1500 rounds triggering a G19. Yes, it was a miserable 3 days. Nah, not really. I had do a Glock recertification class. Class was fun. Shootin is shootin. I kept sweeping my thumb down over the non existent frame safety as I do with MY guns. I don't want to talk to much trash yet, but I will say this. Glock owners should own at least one extra locking block.
  14. Back from the dead (old thread). Dale, I got you covered! I'm sitting here, in a hotel room, away from home, loading ammo. Slowly. I have a SDB mounted to a 10 x 12 x 3 inch block of wood. The block is mounted to a small dinnette table using two 8 inch parallel wood clamps. They have a lot of clamping surface area. I have enough supplies to load 1500 rounds. The SDB breaks down small enough for a smallish Sterlite tub, also inside that tub were the primers, tubes, tools, 4 pounds of Universal Clays and 1000 cases of brass. It's hard for me to find time to load at home. Since I'm a "road hermit" and don't like to eat out or spend money while on work related road trips I knew I'd have some free time at night. Unfortunately, the A/C unit in my room smells like ass (mold).
  15. Nice jacket, nice boots. You need gloves. I used to wear Alpinestars GP gloves. You can't bandage your legs if you can't use your hands. Seriously, I've down at over 120. You get used to them pretty quick if you normally don't wear them.
  16. "It" meaning the diary? Not much to say yet. I'm going back to shooting limited very soon. I really like shooting SS but I need to get back to Limited before the Pro-am. I can't remember the last time I shot my Limited gun. Ok, I can. The last time I shot it, it didn't run 100%. Didn't like a 12.5 pound spring and .402 lead bullets. That's been fixed.
  17. My support thumb ends up pointing slightly down because I try to cam my wrist down. I know that my strong thumb doesn't rest on the safety or the gun either. It's on the back of my support hand. http://www.brianenos.com/forums/uploads/po...-1216263667.jpg
  18. Man, that Dawson 6 looks great. I really don't care for 6 inch bushing guns but I really like that one. I like the price too. Very good deal.
  19. BINGO! Thank you for the link! That's it.
  20. I've been working with a company on having custom shirts made. They were going to go with Techwear, but after the initial design agreement, they have been unable to reach them. After many attempts to contact them, they no longer want to do business with TW. I remember a post about a TW alternative, that had fast turn around, and good communication. Unfortunately I can't find it now. The Jerseys were a sports type material and they did custom graphics. Anyone have any idea?
  21. There are 3 more entries in the mail for Sunday! Whoo F'n hoo! I can't wait.
  22. The lubricant is SLiP2000 EWL. It's thicker than CLP but not as thick as a grease. Although slide glide would probably work on the O-ring as well, I won't use it on the rest of the gun. Since using two different lubes would put me into the OCD side of things I'm sticking to the EWL for awhile.
  23. The standard scallop cut....I prefer the call radius. That, and it needs some hacksaw marks.
  24. Yep. I'm trying out a new lube (for me). Got it at the Pro-Am. It's thick, but not like grease. So far, so good. I might even O'ring my Limited guns bull barrel.
