Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. We don't use flags at our match. Bolt open and muzzle up. We have a designated loading table at each stage that faces into the berm. Rifle and shotgun are placed on the table to load before the shooter is called to the line. We also have several racks for people to "store" their guns in if they do not have a cart. No gun handling allowed at all unless you are on the designated loading table.
  2. I load out of a side saddle. At our local matches you see a mix of side saddles, belt caddies, and a few forearm holders. I think it is just a matter of what you practice at.
  3. jn-boston ... what types of feeding problems were you having ? I have the nordic +1 extension so I am able to start with 9 in the tube and I lust went with the original spring. It has been fine for the last couple of years now.
  4. Brian- Mine is the 2 3/4 version. I have been very happy with it. Like I said, I keep it pretty well oiled up and run the hotter shells with the light piston. I even have a 7 round side saddle and 6 more rounds on the stock and it cycles as long as I use the hotter loads. I have been interested in the sure cycle system, but just haven't been able to spend the money. For now, it works just fine anyway.
  5. I have running a Winchester practical for the last 2 years and really like it. I clean it after every match and lube the hell out of it, and it has run perfectly. It won't however cyle the really light cheapie target loads. I run the Remington nitro 27's or my equivelent reloads in it to be reliable. Good luck.
  6. What are some good light practice loads for 9mm with a 124 grain bullet ? Right now I am using 3.7 grains of bullseye, but just wanted some other options. Thanks
  7. I have been using a Winchester SX2 ( FN SLP ) for a few years now. This gun has been very reliable. I have the light piston in it, but I still need to shoot hotter loads ( rem nitro 27's ) when it is fully loaded and the side saddle is loaded. If not, it will short stroke. My question is, has anyone put a shorter/lighter recoil spring in it to enable it to shoot the lighter loads reliably ? I have an extra spring that I am thinking of cutting down to see how it will work. As long as I run the hotter loads, it is very reliable, but it would be nice to not have to use those loads. Any ideas ? Thanks
  8. What are your experiences with either of these two holsters ? I am not looking for a race holster. Just a good all around holster with decent retention for a lot of running around. Thanks
  9. Thanks for the info. I talked with Tim and ordered an extension for my SX2 . Nice guy, and I got it in just a few days. I have used it in 2 matches now, and it has worked great. Thanks again.
  10. How do I get in touch with Nordic ? I am wanting an extension for my SX2 . Thanks
  11. If the stage description didn't say that you couldn't, and the shooter did it safely, I don't see why not. I would guess that it would cost the shooter much more time in doing that, than to just take the miss. Just my opinion.
  12. Not to hijack the thread, but at our mathes we use straight time plus misses or penalties. Each miss or penalty is added to the overall time for the stage and that is the final time. The lower the time, the higher you place. It is easy to calculate and everyone seems to be happy with it. What is everyone's opinions on this type of scoring ? thanks
