  1. save yourself some headaches.... check out the EGW/LEE "U" die for the 1st. stage in your press.
  2. Yup, have used the Lee/EGW dies for many years on all pistol calibers I reload. I used to get my Lee dies ground down so I could go futher down on the case....I would guess I'm getting 7+ pops on my brass. (mostly Win white box @ 150 pf for steel & sub-gun.),(Win rifle primers & Auto Comp. MTG bullets )
  3. If he can't help himself???.... I have a Clymer finish reamer in 9x21 for $25 plus shipping.
  4. Interesting... I use HS-6 or Auto Comp.... as a side note...I sold my 650 and went back to the 550 machine for ease of loading 9mm major (I tried all the "tricks" to make the 650 work but it was still a powder slinger at 9mm major loadings). I really like the MG 121 bullet, very accurate.
  5. Just use the Lee "u" die in the 1st stage (it's under-sizsed). Get it from EGW(less than $30 shipped)or directley from Lee...... Best thing since sliced bread!!! I shoot LOT's and Lot's of 9mm.
  6. Somthing else you can do..... buy a .40 S&W and have the chamber reamed to 10 mm. Most smiths have these reamers or buy the 10mm barrel. (Only applys to the large frame recent pistols).
  7. One other thing you may want to have checked..... Have the chamber checked by someone with a Clymer 9mm "finish" camber reamer. I've had too tight chambers on several 9mm's CAUSING intermitant failure to extract/chamber. You would probably never think this can happen but it is fairly common & will drive you nuts!! JUST bought a new Shadow and it was a bit tight... (enough to matter) I had enough of this and bought my own
  8. Sounds like a mag problem, will the top bullet stand up with minor effort (mag lips too wide). With bullets in the mag and seated in the gun ... is the top bullet touching the ejector?
  9. Sold all my 38 super guns 4/5 years ago.. 9mm major is just fine with me. Get the Lee "u" die and be a happy camper (no case pro needed). I did sell my 650 and went back to a 550 because of the powder slinging(yes, I tried all the fixs). As far as the primer pockets... I can feel them with the 550 (loose or "bad")and pitch them (cost of a primer). I don't keep track of the # of reloads, but would guess a easy 5+. I use small rifle primers/w a long firing pin. I was shooting a long OAL but am back to a regular 9mm OAL. I do use only SV mags. I'm happy with 3/4 powder and bullet selections. The MG 121's are just super accurate in any gun I've seen shot.
  10. just get the barrel reamed to 10mm... most specialty gunsmiths have these finish reamers.... stronger recoil spring MAY be in order... are you shooting elephants?
  11. I may have an older super sight (unused).... If I can find it I'll send you a pic if interested?
  12. I'm in Apache Junction, AZ and shoot regularly at Rio Salado... A "cure" for the brass problem? is the Lee "U" die sold by EGW or Lee (about $27 shipped to your door).... That said, I have ran into a "tight" chamber .... I have the Clymer 9mm finish chamber reamer if you want to check the chamber? E-mail me if you need help. Mike
  13. Well, I had no idea w/ the poly chambers.... you couldn't ream them ...Is it simply a matter of getting the od of the end of the reamer ground smaller?? Anyhow, your going to spend some $$$$ to get mags that work!! Don't get me wrong, I shot P-9's, 9x21 for a few years... 1st gun that fit my small hands....the name of the game is is is is moe BB's. Mike

    Barrel link pin

Yep, sounds more like the extractor... another thing to check... bullets too long/too short... feed ramp polished? Happening on a full mag/partial mag/? I always polish the top of the barrel entrance ( use the green stick from a Rock Shop & your Dremial). Do you guage all your ammo (good practice) Your going to have to eliminate these one by one.....
  15. Why would you want to do this??? IF, you have a small frame gun ? it's not going to be practical.... OAL won't work, IF, you have a large frame gun there are LOTS of magazine issues and you will spend some $$$$$$. "Splaine" some more...what are you up to? I've had several 9's, 9x21's small frames, 2 large frame pistols. You only need the correct chamber reamer to do what you have posted... probably don't even need a different extractor. Most gunsmiths will have them.

    New XL 650

Buy the Lee "U" die for the 1st. stage... You wont be sorry... You will save LOTS of no go ammo. I have 3 Dillon 550's, have owned 2 650's... been reloading since GOD was a baby. I USED to have no go ammo.... CALL EGW ASAP... spend the $$$ now!!!! MIKE ( age 68 ).... BEEN THERE!!
  17. Very interesting comparison.... I've had nothing but C-More's since they were 1st introduced and was on a "waiting list" for their introduction.. At the time, I had used "Tascos" on the P-9's (9x21 guns). I just never felt comfortible the "tube" style sights (although I never had an Aimpoint). I just put the "Quinn" mount on my 9mm open gun..... getting the sight lower I think helps alot... no matter who's "dot" you use.... Of course, I'm only a WAY Super Senior.... In the end IT'S the Shooter, NOT the scope. I've tried all the dot sizes and for my eyesight and the Arizona sun... the 6mo works for me!! I have C-Mores on all my guns including the sub guns, AR's, Shotguns, they work for me. I was never too happy with the Serindipity but you can always saw the legs off. Mike
  18. Intersting "Q", I shoot 9mm major and I've never bought any new brass (3+ years). Every thing is at least one fired. All different headstamps. I can't use ANY "S&B" brass (expands too much, won't eject/extract), anything else works. I use the "EGW" "U" (Lee) die in the 1st. stage for ALL pistol calibers I shoot. (The secret??, VERY few bad rounds anymore). I'm back to a Dillon 550 for 9mm major as it was too much powder "slinging with the 650. I lube all cases (Dillon). Do a magenet sweep and quick visual inspection of the lubed cases. I case check all loaded rounds and pull the bullet/powder and pitch the case when I get a no-go round. ( depending on the age of the brass you will get a few). Ive never had a 9mm loose the primer because of it's being too loose ( Not the case with 9x21 in the "OLD days and 175 power factor). I don't keep track of the number of times the brass can be safely reloaded but 6/7 would be a good guess. I use only Win/Rem small rifle primers as I also shoot .223 and a "long" firing pin (STI/SV pistol). All loads are major (steel also) and long at 1.117/1.200 and only use SV mags. Bullet is the 121 MG (very accurate). THE ONE THING that holds true is WHEN you can see the place/mark where the case bottom/side and the case itself seem to meet ..PITCH it!!(about 1/16th up from the bottom of the case). I've gotten to the point where I can usually feel this before I set the primer (I don't waste the primer in a "bad" case very often anymore). I use that "dirty"?? HS-6 powder. Sold all my 38 Super guns/ happy with 9mm. Hope this helps? Mike
  19. Just go 9mm major and forget it!!! I run them long with a decent crimp. The MT gold 121 are very accurate +. I use the Lee "U" dies on all calibers I load.... Pitch ANY S&B brass you find. I use rifle primers generally (also load .223), but can't see any real advantage. Use SVI tubes that are about .355 and you will be fine, the Grams parts are class stuff. I can't see the race for the 30 round mags as your going to have to reload somewhere. I use all 170mm tubes. I think the Lee "U" die is the BEST thing you can use ... BUT, with a Dillon 650 they sling a little powder ( I sold mine and use a 550). I did have 2 case seperations with #7625 and no longer load it to major..I ALWAYS come home with more brass than I shot... I SOLD all my 38 super guns ... Why bother?? There are plenty of powders you can use... HS-6 is fine... What's to worry??? Just finished a 9mm "steel, sighted gun". I think I'll put a 9mm battery in my car???? Years ago... shot the P-9's @ 9x21 but the power factor was 175 and yes.. would get some "loose" primers after awhile... BUT at 165 .. the 9mm is great..I've never had a loose one. (I get 4/6 + pops out of the brass and toss it). THE ONLY glitch I ever had with 9mm is that the ejector needs to be tuned to toss the brass a little more flater.. I solved that occasional glitch by going to a side-mounted C-More on my latest gun, plus it looks cool. AND, I'm only 67 years young.. Mike
  20. Im getting nervious!!!!!... down to about 19,000 MT Gold 121's... time to reorder????
  21. I like the 121 MT GOLDS... This by far the most accurate bullet I've ever shot. I'm using 8.7 Grs. of HS-6.... I've tried most of the popular powders... Can't beat HS-6 for the$$$$$

    Which Glock?

I think he's still at the "picking" part! Hes wasting his time picking when he should be practicing!!! *****I also shoot in sub gun matchs and am one of the few who has to reload W/a 72 round drum.... I'd really like one of those Dillon chain guns!!!!

    Which Glock?

O.K. , no 17L. I see the problem with it. This is the info I wanted. Looks like a 40 w/the 9mm conversion barrel. Thanks.

    Which Glock?

OPPS, yes I ment the 17L.

    Which Glock?

I know this might be too simplistic? But which one to buy?... I've always thought the 17L(non ported) was the "Glock" to have.. I'm an open 9mm major SV shooter. Thought I might buy a 9mm for steel or production. 19 L seem to be rare. As I remember, the 34 is 9mm. I'm not really interested in shooting 40 cal. I've owned a couple of Glocks years ago and have some experence with the internals?. I know I'll want the drop free mags, 3 1/2 lb. connector etc... What's your opinion? Thanks, Mike
