  1. JM 22" or 24"... What ever one you can find..Read some of my posts. I have arthritis myself and am way old. I added a $9.95 rear HiVis sight for a little better picture on the slug targets. I never even cleaned it till after a bunch of rounds were shot,... ran right out of the box. Good trigger/extended bolt/etc. comes from the Factory. polish a few things and be happy!. Buy some of the 1145 fps ammo and enjoy!. I tried the 28" set up and didn't like it. You can add a longer bare Nordic tube to the 22" version if you want more capacity as it comes with the +5...I've got the +6 tube and the xxl extention cap and new spring on mine (11 in the tube).... I don't know how many rounds you can have were you shoot???? pm me if you wish..Mike
  2. Good info... I'll toss in a little more. My gun, 22" JM (all I could find at the time). I really thought I wanted the 28" 13 shot Pat Flanigan model, open gun..... never have seen one yet... 1st. I've added the xxl extention tube for + one round (works fine with the stock spring, $20 bucks for another round, not bad). 2nd. I've very sligtly polished the chamber entrance and have not touched anything else on the gun so far?.. 3rd. Bought a new condition 28" vented barrel from a member here and used the +8 Nordic tube & spring, (easy 13 rounds in the tube with the xxl extention). The gun has been flawless with anything I've ran thru it from 1145 to 1350 fps mixed bird shot/slugs/ with either barrel. I've got the Otto load two x 24 rd. chest rig and load with my "weak" left hand.... (I'm not real good at this yet but am working on it). I gave up on the 28" barrel as it seemed too heavy/ slow to swing to me, fully loaded.... (sold to my buddy, he likes it). GOOD info on the loading gate... I've been looking at doing the discribed mods in this post...I don't know what most people are using for gun oil/cleaning????..... I just switched to Frog Lube.... It seems to be as good as it says it is... The powder fouling on the JM piston wipes off with a rag... I coudn't believe the crud that has came off my compensator on my Open pistol... (and I thought it was clean)... I've not had any light primer hits and have tried Wally world, Federal, Estate, Rio, etc... I'll agree, probably the best spent $$$ for a 3 gun shotgun... a simple barrel change and you have either an open or limited shotgun that runs with lots of mods already done from the Factory.
  3. Got the XDM 9mm today.... Bought 3 extra mags... Loaded all 6 (had a couple that 18 seemed to be the max).. Didn't care for the Factory mag loader.. used my Uplula. I was pleasently supprised by the Factory trigger, it wasn't all that bad!! Sights were dead on, ran the 6 mags, not even a hiccup. I shot my Open gun steel loads which are in the 145 power factor range(Montana Gold 124'S x 4.5 Titegroup.)I also ran some 147 x 3.7 Titegroup loads which were lot's softer feeling. My reloaded ammo is at the max oal length on the 124's @ 1.15 and I use nothing but Winchester small rifle primers.... nice wack right dead center on the primer, nice deep hit.... I'm happy!!! Now for the trigger and a different holster. I can see I want a little more outward cant, otherwise the Factory one is probably O.K. for most non competition shooters. All in all, the whole package is well thought out and nicely packaged....I was supprised as I've only shot a 2011 "dot" gun for many years.... I seemed to be quick on the target?... time will tell?...coulda been a mirage?...Wait till I here the "beep"...
  4. Noted.... having had a gun come out of the holster once.... never again...
  5. Don't know were you are looking?? but.... a couple of phone calls should find you one (Bud's,/Gun Source/etc.) My buddy just got one from Bud's.... Price wasn't bad... He paid by electronic check and saved the 3%. I got mine (21"). with no hassle 2 months ago (Buds)...used the CC...I bought a 28" vented barrel from this Forum and the Nordic +8 tube... I can shoot "open" ala Flanigan if I want... Get the xxl extention cap... gives you another round w/ no changes reqed. THEY ARE OUT THERE ... I THINK THE PHONE IS YOUR BEST BET..
  6. After a lot of thought I bought one. Never going to be a GM shooter but I'm out there and can miss faster than most??..., was toying with the thought of a Glock 34 but I got a very good price on a NIB Springfield. I'm sure a trigger kit will soon follow.....just getting started in 3 gun at age 70, kind of liking the "Serpa" holster for retention purposes when 3 gunning but may be overdoing it? Opinions? This will be a new experience for me as I usually shoot an "open" 9mm STI...... probably need to sign up for "Drill Masters" at RIO??.
  7. Anyone have a "Leatherwood CMR 1-4x24 ?... Getting good reviews/videos. Price very good on the "net"....was pointed out that they made the Nam sniper scope...
  8. I'm in the same mental boat as you/or close.... 1-4x24 will work for me BUT there is sure a bunch to choose from AND it seems that a higher price doesn't mean a better scope? I see the lot's of reviews of course.. some swear by this brand or the other...I can't see a clear favorite? and am not looking to buy and try different ones(actually have a box were I put the try and buys)(get's a little expensive!!).
  9. I've owned Glocks before, just don't own one now.... That said, I'm thinking of getting a G34 (for 3 gun & steel). My shooting buddy seems to think the 4th. gereration is the one to get, as it has a "better" recoil spring system?? other upgrades?. I probably won't get a new one as there seems to be a good supply locally in all generations..... Just looking for the best "bang" for the buck... I'll do all the needed? mods myself.
  10. Well, I'll be... The "Stag" 3 G god smiled on me out of the blue.....Happy 3G!!. I was wasting time???, checking out the offerings in the Phoenix New Times, Sporting Equipment offerings. I had been there earlier in the day checking out the Glock 34 offerings (for some reason I think I should have one for 3 gun). So, I'm at the top of the list, scrolling down and I see "Stag 3G", WOW... checked it out . It's a local business in Mesa, Az. (Quick Guns), not even that far from where I live...call up, Yep, they just got it in... asked them to hold it for 2 hours (Bank trip for some $$$)...sped down and bought it... I had truly given up on finding one and it was even a GOOD price, (under retail).... Who'd a thought???? had enough $$$$ stashed that momma didn't even notice. It's as nice as everyone says. THE BAD PART,...probably can't take it to bed with me.... she would notice, BUT at one time I had my 1st brand new Harly in the bedroom (must have been why they made those silly "French doors"???...Happy>>>> Mike
  11. I'd jump on the "JM", that said, I have an Akdal/Firebird and the "JM" 22". The Akdal limits me to open class. With the 22" "JM" I've already bought a 28" ported barrel and the Nordac + 8 tube and spring.... I can now shoot 2 classes with one gun. (My skill level??? is in the lower half of the class, no matter what I shoot). I did buy the 24 RD. Mark Otto belt, it works !. (You won't see any vidieos of me loading 8 rounds in 4 seconds on You Tube cause I can't do it!). In the long run, I think the Akdal platform will be a good choise, once the mags/drums are out. Even though I'm not a "top" shooter... eyesight and old age make "open" class almost manditory for me .... but then that's me not you...I've put 1000 rounds thru the "JM", tried every "load" I could buy, .... It's a runner... Mike
  12. GEEZ..... try cutting the right side leg on the hammer spring..., cost is "0". not the $200 job but it sure HELPS!. Brownells/JP spring kit if you have to spend some money???? Works just fine on my S&W 15-22. Mild polish job on the hammer hook and sear hook helped..(IT"S on the net.)100% ignition so far, (400 rounds, Federal bulk and CCI Blazer).
  13. Thought I'd put a Burris Speed bead on my (open) JM 930....(added the 28" ported barrel & +8 Nordic tube = 13+ ala Flanigan model).... Called Factory, they don't "offer" it no demand was the response?... looked like it would be the best "cheek" weld/red dot for a open gun. Dig out a C-More I guess or make a custom mount ( I can see a potential problem as I use the .250 stock dropper)? has anyone adaped one of the other speed Beads to a 930 (say Remington, maybe ?). Well, maybe I don't even need a "red dot" as the 28" barrel puts me a lot closer to the targets??
  14. Pic please. Don't want to just start grinding away.
  15. My local FFL says his distributers are out(Stag 3G).... He doesn't think Stag will give him a good price because he is a little guy...I really wanted just the upper anyhow (3GH). Waited too long I guess?
  16. Am I wasting $$$?...Looks flimsy to me.... There is a "special" 1/2 headed/one way screw, how do you get it out? The steel tactical one is not that expensive... For some unknown reason I can see this breaking in the "BIG" match.... Opinions.....
  17. +8, That's what I thought. Since I really didn't know what I was talking about when I called them, I guess Iwasn't able to explain what I want to do. So, the +8 extention tube and spring and I'm ready to go?....With the 24" JM I could be happy with 9+1, change to the 28" ported "open" barrel w/+8 tube and be 12 + 1 with one gun not two... This were I'm trying to go. How 'bout a "Gatling" shotgun???, lot's of lead flying then!
  18. How did the Factory get the extra rounds in the "Rhythm" model (12 +1)? Is it just a screw on Nordic extention tube? I've called The Phoenix distributor and they are telling me there is only a 5 round extention yet I can see there is a 8 rd extention tube, I know the Rhythm barrel is ported and 28" long... I'm assuming that the JM and the Rhythm are built on the same action.... different capacities/different barrels/ different shooter name. Is it this simple... take your JM shotgun, take end cap off add longer Nordic screw on extention tube, have 12 rounds?..(longer spring of course}. Or HOW did they do it? I have a JM on the way and a 28" barrel, so.... ( I,know OPEN class w/ the Rhythm)..
  19. Thanks, I'll do a before and after test... I've already bought the reamer... May as well use it. Mike
  20. I just thought that's what's normaly done? Don't know anything about shotgun barrels...
  21. Was gone to have the "forcing cone" reamed on my new to me Mossberg 930 28" ported barrel,BUT I don't see the typical forcing cone "ring".... the barrel looks absolutely smooth (It's near new). I thought Mossbergs 930's all had a forcing cone? Maybe not with the "acc-u-choke system?... Help, please.
  22. Auto comp is fine. I use it for 9mm major & 9mm sub gun loads (minor). Bought it when it first came out...that's all I use anymore. Sold my supply of hs6.. (too dirty for me). I've used the vv's mentioned, yes, they are clean & costly, sometimes hard to find...
  23. Got mine from Bud's, she said they were flying out the door...$593.20 shipped.... Dang it, had to use the CC!. Oh, well....what's .03%?
